- Met Police Chief Mark Rowley has recently banned officers from wearing LGBT badges, environmental lapel pins, and from taking the knee.
This decision has sparked a conversation about the impartiality of the police force and the need for a symbol of allegiance to no one.
Former Met Police detective, Peter Bleksley supports the ban, stating that a police uniform should be a symbol of impartiality and that officers should do their job without fear or favour.
He tells TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan that the 'woke nonsense' in the police force is 'utterly appalling and needs to stop.

The police need re-educating. they uphold the laws of this country, regardless of colour, religion, views etc etc If someone breaks the law, they should punished by the LAW respectively, and stop being afraid! The police are a laughing stock these days, all for the easy life.

What if the law is a bad law? There have been a lot of right wingers advocating the breaking of the law recently for a number of reasons.
I'd they need to be educated to act with normal human behaviour then there is the problem.
It's more that the Police DARENT do anything as the Liberal Elite get their lawyers to sue them or they are suspended or have to go to court to account for every behaviour. Whatever the police do is deemed wrong....criminals have more rights than the innocent and the law enforcers.

I saw two police officers talking to member of the public they were covered in tattoos badges and generally scruffy looking very unprofessional.
I said that the other day, chewing gum, walking around with tattoos, every job iv had men or women had to cover them, you either had a proper beard or be clean shaven none of this half and half,no piercings, woman if hair at shoulder length had to be tied back Tidy, clean and pressed uniform, white shirt not yellow and washed out, shoes or boots you could see your face in,no jewlary except small stud earrings if the woman had pieced ears,and a ordanary watch,,, should be inspections again when you change shifts,👍

A copper used to walk round our village every day traditional uniform smart it wasn't that long ago .I saw a TH-cam video 2 female coppers long hair hanging loose one was constantly fiddling with her bracelet and the other was in full make up with false eyelashes@@mohamad4609 how can you take these people seriously.

That'was the most embarrassing thing I ever seen in my life in my 60 years in this country was our police department on their knees apologizeing to BLM, because of something that happened in the USA, I could see the old school actually looking at them and walking away,and shaking their heads,one for their kids to see in later years, they should of been suspended,and at a time one of their colleagues had done the most disgusting, dispicable thing ever,then to top it off while crime is rife their twirking or what ever in the street,,on our dime,and they wonder why the public have no respect,take the cars away and get them back on the beat,to be honest a lot of them could do with a bit of exercise,and im not being cheeky if you're not interested in the job pack it in,👍

If that was offered as an alternative to unemployment, gain training, education for better options. If this was offered as an in country only military arm where the agreement is they will not be sent into foreign lands as usual military personnel are. Also as one of the societal problems referenced is the divided families with Fathers being absent from the homes, this would/could bring stability/structure to some. Maybe if this is offered before the end of high school it could lower the availability of youth to be brought into gangs. IMO

I agree about not adding anything to police uniforms, and I would like to think that they act without fear or favour, but there is overwhelmng evidence that black people have reason to fear the police, and recent court cases suggest that young women have reason to fear them too. On the other hand, there is evidence that senior politicians and their rich chums are favoured above the rest of us.
Those black fella's with the machetes at the Notting hill stabfest did'nt seem bothered by the police, they seemed to think the police were a joke!

2.28 Totally agree, though I 150% support both Blue Line and Poppy badges. No adornments at all. Its a UNIFORM. And the uniform denotes total impartiality, enforcement of the law without fear or favour. If we lose that, the fabric of civil society starts to come apart.

There should be a Police Discipline Act just like the Armed Forces are subject to Military Law the Police Service, who do not consider themselves to be "civilians" should be subject their own Law. Knowing that such a Law existed would probably have the additional benefit of increasing public confidence in Police conduct and standards.

Its harder recruiting calibre police as why would you go in to a profession that is constantly undermined and at risk of being sued. We have lost many doctors and nurses because of this mindset. The people who would make excellent police are put off enrolling and the bar has been lowered. Its about time we showed respect for our professionals and backed them up aswell as giving incentives to recruit calibre people.Yes there are cases of unprofessional acts but the fact the Police have been harangued is stopping good youngsters joining. Ok, fair enough. So, who is going to (or try to) enforce the law? Deal with all the reports of crime (thefts, assaults, robberies, disturbances, riots etc). Sudden deaths, fatal road collisions, missing persons, civil and non-civil disputes, lost and found property, demonstrations etc…etc…the list is not exhaustive. I guess the answer is ‘the army’ then.
