Can’t go wrong either way- both cars are meant to be a joy to drive, not to have the best numbers on paper. In an automotive landscape unfortunately dominated by large SUVs and heavy EVs, safety has become more important than ever. I went the Emira route and love it!
The NSX is my favorite car of all time. The fact that Honda of all companies made this car was insane. 90s jdm is my favorite time period of cars. My first car was a 79 280z and I was immediately hooked on that driving experience. My car now is a 91 Miata and again that experience is why I drive it. I have had about a dozen Honda’s in my life and 10/12 were manual (2012 Odyssey and 2017 Civic Turbo Hatch) being the exceptions. Honda and Mazda in my opinion make some of the best manual transmissions outside of Porsche. I would love to park my 91 Miata next to my 91 NSX. Great video!
I had a 1996 NSX-T for over 25 years. I put a deposit down on an Emira. My NSX was Comptech supercharged with headers and an upgraded exhaust. I test drove the Emira in early 2022. Then I went home and drove my NSX. I cancelled my order then and there. The NSX was better. However, I ended up getting a Lotus Evora GT which I modified and tuned. The Lotus blows both of them away. PS: Is that a Porsche 718 Spyder in the background? I have one of those also. Great car, though not as quick as the Lotus, still lots of fun.
Thanks for such a thorough and thoughtful comparison! What a ground-breaking car the NSX was. The motivation for Ferrari to improve the 348. I can imagine the Ferrari boss at the time driving the NSX and thinking… oh… sh*t… 😂
Whoa, between the MX5, NSX and Emira we are talking the three of the top 10 all time best handling cars out there (yes, MX5 needs coilovers). Wowww. Double wishbones all around in all!!!
my macpherson strut 911 would just embarass them all.. but they're each super cute cars, no doubt. shocking how fat that emira looks compared to the gen 1 nsx!!! wow
I’ve wanted an NSX for a long time but now that they’re $100k I just couldn’t do it. If I’m spending that much, I need to daily it and to do that, I need some modern amenities. Love my Emira but still have a place in my heart for the NSX.
I have heard the throttle response on the emira is better than evora gt, therefore easier to do heeltoe and rev matching. May I know if the difference true please?
I own an NSX and considered an Emira to have as a daily. Even put a deposit down for a while. However the lack of a dealer in the state and long wait made me change my mind. I ended up with a C8 Z06 which is a very different type of experience and at a higher price so not really a direct competitor. I think that the Evora GT may end up being the collector item to have from Lotus. It is more hardcore and will probably be much more rare than the Emira.
Emira is a good choice as a 2nd car (better for road trips, daily use), but i would take the NSX if i had a 2nd car like an lc500 or a f type that is a gt car, and were looking to get a third car that is something more special.
lotus isn't exactly engine guru's like toyota or honda, they're not gonna open each outsourced engine to chase another 400+rpm and will err on the side of durability esp with a supercharger
The limiting factor is the supercharger... Na the 2GR can spin up to 7750 safely.. 8000 if you want to risk damaging the engine ( though most 2gr's can handle 8000 ).
Emira is really great for any one looking for a new car with MR + MT to drive out of the dealer lot. It offers great styling and pretty good ride comfort. It has all the bells and whistles of newer cars That said, the similarities between the cars kinda end on paper with all the quantifiable items like double wishbone suspension. The Emira comes across as much more of a modern touring car. The NSX feels more coherent with more of race-car like feeling to it - not as full blown track focused as modern Porsche GT cars are, but certainly more engaging emotionally
@@jubbalandcars Correct. Rawness definitely gets dialed down over the years for other manufacturers too. So that’s expected. I should elaborate more. The NSX’s more engaging due to how the driver inputs are natural and coherent. The Emira’s drive is distracting due to vague clutch and throttle pedal response, overly boosted and non-linearly feeling brake-pedal, and overly light shifter with horizontal and vertical movements being somewhat feeling disproportional. The pedals are too close and are also canted too far to the left on a RHD car. The steering is quite different from what I expected from a hydraulic rack. It feels much more like a really really good EPS. Overall the car’s output doesn’t feel linear, natural, nor intuitive from a driver’s input point of view. Don’t get me wrong, the Emira is a great car. I think where this car really shines is the styling and the interior, as well as the comfort. It has a super car look and a very nice interior. It absorbs bumps and deals with road imperfections pretty well. It’s a real head turner and works well for cruising on nice back roads. The car also has a proven-reliability engine, something that is hard to beat. The NSX is a car that I enjoyed it at WOT and looking forward to braking, shifting, turning, and then repeat. The Emira is a car I prefer to cruise over the road and have less driver input during the drive
@@jubbalandcars nah man, that was just a blip. Double de-clutch is clutch pedal in to shift out of gear to neutral, clutch pedal out in neutral between gears and rev the engine, then clutch in to engage the next lower gear such as a 3-2 shift, then clutch out after shifting to the next lower gear and throttle back on again. There’s a distinct rev, pause, rev sound vs, rev and shift. It’s for cars without synchromesh gearboxes and is now obsolete.

Most people who don’t know cars don’t even know what an NXS is. The one vehicle that changed the entire sports car segment

Great video!
The NSX looks small next to the bulky Emira.
I’ve had mine for 18 years, I’ll never sell it, amazing cars.
As an NSX and s2k owner, there is no better way to experience the essence of pure driving! Ill never sell either!
Living the dream! Congrats man
Great garage
Small correction: EBC Red stuff pads :) was feeling out of it and told you the wrong brand. Great comparison video!
If only the Emira could have a higher reving more exciting engine. 6800 should be the party getting started, not the redline.

would you sell the porsche 718 or the lotus first over the nsx?

yes, emira throttle response is fixed, whereas in the evora gt it was inconsistent
@@jubbalandcars thx!
I love the NSX but after driving one the XXL wheelbase and low power was a deal breaker. I cant bring myself to modify it.
Sounds like you’ll have a right to first refusal or be the first on the list for Fentons NSX in the future!

Is the NSX using stiffer springs in the front than the rear? "8k in the front, 6k in the rear"
i really dont understand the low 6800 redline. mr2 guys spin these engines stock to 7200. it can do 8000 easily with just springs

Looks as if the emira was slightly lowered with improved wheel offsets....will perform better than stock with just 2 mods
Damn who is this Zygrene and how dare he steal the NSX away from our beloved ZYPAPI

An older car obviously more raw than newer car. But it's the most similar driving experience you can currently buy today

That downshift is not a double declutch.
