    Just got back from a 2000ml road trip with my year old Emira through France . Now reached 5000mls on the clock. No problems apart from phone not connecting to apple play straight away sometimes. Never had such attention and happy smiling people looking at my Emira.

    I have a (used) 2018 Evora 400 - took delivery of it May 2024. No warranty, had about 19,000 miles on it, and I'm the 4th owner. Am I crazy? Nope. Although Lotus cars are known for having issues - most are small and niggly. I had my engine light come on about 300 miles after I bought it - I went through the owner's manual, tried to figure out what happened, thought I'd made a big mistake buying it. I found in the owner's manual one sentence that says (not verbatim) "after you fill your fuel tank ensure you turn the fuel cap until you hear it click "at least" 3 times". I went out, turned my fuel cap 5 times - drove the car several miles and on the 3rd start the problem resolved itself and it has not come on since. These cars are still somewhat hand-built and quirky - but - there is nothing on sale today that is better to drive than a Lotus.

      EVAP codes. I hate that shit. I bought a Miata several years ago that has chronic CEL. It has a bad canister. I don't live in a county that does emissions checks, so I've never fixed it, and I'm not going to. It's not dangerous for "this" particular engine so I say F**K it. I just plug my reader in every now and then to see if another code besides PO4- whatever to check if something else may need attention. If I knew how to do it, I'd just flash the fault codes for EVAP out of my system. I don't even need that shit where I'm at.

  • @ms8742
    @ms8742 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I have had my Emira 3 months and had a CEL come on within the 2nd day. It was code U0416 which was a Power train system code for "invalid data received from control module". Reset it and never seen again and I am at 1500 miles. Also had to get the HVAC fan resistor replaced at about 600 miles. Also, got a CEL for the EVAP canister which is a known issue. Does not affect driving and parts are on order. Car is fun, just has these minor gremlins which can be frustrating, but hopefully they are going away as I address them.

    I'm in Florida also. If you are getting the cat delete from GRP, you might also want to consider a cold air intake if they make one for the Emira. As for the windshield, I would think Lotus would cover this under warranty, or perhaps your insurance would cover it. You bring back a memory for me. Way back in the day I had a 1996 NSX-T. Initially, when I was looking for one, I found one in the Tarpon Springs area of Florida which the owner had bought in Ocala. After agreeing to buy it in Tarpon Springs, I met him at the Ocala dealership to finish the deal. As we were looking the car over, I saw the front windshield had a long vertical crack in it which was not there when I saw the car a week before. He said, don't worry, your insurance will cover that. I was there with my girlfriend. I took her hand and said, we are leaving. He followed me to her car and was still talking as we drove off. I bought a different one over the phone as we drove home. Had that car 25 mostly trouble-free years before I sold it.

      Hi,
      I'm hoping that by removing one catalytic converter, the Emira I hope will sound more like the Evora. I just got my Evora back, and wow, it's so different. I think I prefer the driving experience of the Evora, but I like everything else about the Emira. I'll look into getting a cold air intake. I also got a custom steering wheel from GRP. Check out my short video for the Emira, and I'll have to make another one for the Evora.

    Anyone can change it. They'll run masking tape down the pillars, along the roof etc. A company that cuts out and replaces windshields all day is going to give you much less risk of damage. The person that does it at Lotus probably rarely replaces a windshield. He could've worked at a Windshield replacement/repair company, though. So are British cars in general just junk? McLarens always have problems, so do Ranger Rovers, you're saying Lotus is the same? If that's the case, British cars being problematic seems to be the case.

    Cant build a porsche?? Mustve been a 911? I know they are getting away from the manual for a year or so, but thats next year. There's a handful of odd paint to sample colors out there for sale, i would've assumed those were customer ordered cars? Yes, the intro of hybrid/ electric is killing of the manual gearbox. 🤬
