I love this! As a formerly homeless individual working towards a public health degree. I would love to help or donate to the cause! I I just moved to Tucson last month and have a ton of time on my hands now.

As an alternative for those who won’t go to shelters because they don’t want to leave behind their pet, partner or belongings, why not take a plot of city/county land and set up a campground with portable toilets, garbage bins and some water access and allow them to camp there as long as they keep their sites clean. That would be better than them camping in residential neighborhoods and trashing the neighborhood.

The last time I was in Tucson I was surprised by the number of homeless camps right off of the interstate. Everywhere you see this you see trash thrown on the ground. We need to start half day work programs for the homeless put them to work picking up trash and roadside maintenance that also comes with housing and social workers to help as many people as possible. This homeless problem is not easy to fix. There will always be a small percentage of people who will not except help and will not go along with any program and drugs and alcohol play a big part of their situation. There is no single silver bullet fix to homeless, it takes constant work. I wish at a minimum, if we are going to let them camp on right a ways of our highways we would at a minimum pick up their trash.

Our city just started a program in which they pay the homeless $12 hour for 6 hours a day to pick up trash in the city. They also counsel them on money mgt, housing, insurance, transportation, etc .

The people that complain the most about the homeless are sitting on their comfy sofas watching it on a youtube channel without a clue as to how they ended up there and judging them. Lets find solutions!

Collecting stuff is a response to Trauma. Taking away people's belongings can add to the Traumatic experience!

How about they all get a ticket back to where they came from, California. This is getting out of control. The amount of homeless near Grant & the entrance to i10 is ridiculous. Leaving all their trash scattered. Last week I saw one of them shooting up on the bus stop, no sympathy from me.

you talk to any of em and 90%+ are all tucson natives who never been outside the city. dont be so quick to judge the people being effected by a broken system.

Why does the homeless outreach program carry guns and bullet proof vests? #defundpolice
