You should have tried a really sour candie like warheads
Dont think that it would be sour, since warheads themself are sweet..its just the tiny bit of malic acid coating that is sour.
Warheads are now sweet? Yuck.
like 10 seconds after you start eating a warhead, all the sourness is gone because it's all in the coating. I don't think the cotton candy would end up sour at all.

Weird thing is I never knew they were sour until I started seeing TH-cam videos on them. When I was a kid we all got Atomic Warheads, which are hot cinnamon flavor.

Make a DIY cotton candy machine

a 3 inch ( + or - a little) metal jar lid with a curled lip, a nail, a bolt, a nut, a cardboard box, a drill, a heat source to melt candies before you pour and a stick to collect the candy floss. Oh of course..............candy.

it will get hard but as it is in fiber form it will be extremely brittle

I actually did this about 8 years ago during an internship after my first year of culinary school. They had the industrial machines to so it made it a bit easier than the small household machines that are on the market. I found that the darker colored candies tended to burn as they used brown sugar. But when using something like jolly ranchers in like a 50/50 ratio between candy and table sugar it works well. Also use a coffee grinder and or blender to grind the candies into smaller pieces. I found that the sour Jolly Ranchers worked really well!

Np :) Also by doing a 50/50 ratio it will tone the flavor down a bit. Just don't over pulverize it and turn it into a powder when grinding the candies. And by dark candies I meant like the root-beer barrels for example are really dark and almost always burnt. I have no experience with using these small machines so experience will vary. If you intend to rent an industrial machine be aware that it could damage the machine. Just an FYI.
How to make glowing cotton candy:
1.break a glow stick
2.pour the solution in the cotton candy
3.try not to get poisoned eating it

I have a cotton candy machine and we put the cone vertically instead of horizontal and move it in circles and it seems to work fine

But it takes straight candy no cruching look at the name
@@catboy1352 straight candy will not work as well, that's when you get thick strings and burnt candy, which is why if you buy one, the instructions that come with the machine say to smash it up in to smaller pieces. Nate RTFM.

I actually used one of these in the past, and I found that the results were best with stuff that's uniform and can be ground down easily in a mortar and pestle.
- I had the best results with granulated sugar (as you showed)- I had about the same results with butterscotch candies and round hard peppermint disks. Grinding these into powder first improved the uniformity of the texture afterwards. I found that the unground discs melt at a different rate and cause thicker strands which are slightly crunchy, are about the size of fishing line, and do not mesh well with the rest of the cloud, hence the reason to grind the candy beforehand.- Strangely, pixie sticks or other powdered candy didn't seem to do as well and instead gummed up the mechanism in the center

can you try making cotton candy with sour candy, see if it stays sour (and maybe even with other things like bitter, salty etc. candy/food )
They could add a little malic acid to regular crushed candy.
Finn It would maintain its flavour, and probably would work as long as it's sugar based.

I have this machine...in pink instead of red, but same size and brand. You don't have to crush hard candy first the machine will automatically balance the pieces in the hopper. For glow in the dark cotton candy... You can make hard candy with tonic water instead of regular water for same effect with less damage to the original flavor.

some people think that they wash it, really its because raccoons cant produce saliva, so its hard to swallow,then they wash it, using the water as saliva, and bam, its easy to eat

DeadShot You need to understand that not just any powder would work. Sugar does because it can melt and get stringy, but salt has a really high melting point and doesn't get stringy when molten.

Can you make storm glass. How it works is the storm glass crystals change depending on the weather, if the liquid is clear it's a hot weather or temperature , and if the liquid is crystalized the weather or temperature is cold. it has several ingredients like potassium nitrate, ethenol, water, amonium chloride, campfer ,and etc. It's difficult to explain because if the liquid has feathers, stars, clear, cloudy etc. Pls do more research if your gonna do this project

What you should have done instead of putting the candy in a pestle and mortar you should have used a food processor to turn it into a finer powder that way it would have worked even better because with a pestle and mortar it does not Crush the candy fine enough so with a food processor you guaranteed to get it really fine because there would be no clumps
It's melted in the machine anyways so it doesn't matter much.

Idea: Hand warmer material (iron powder type not Sodium acetate) in liquid Oxygen. It says to keep away from Oxygen sources, so why not put it in the most concentrated Oxygen you can get? :)

i saw this and three big flavors came to mind:
candy-cane/ peppermint
cinnamon
lemon.
you should try using some candies that have a little bit of moisture too, i'm curious to see if they can be granulated or if they just gum it up.
I use the exact same machine brand to make the candy. I use regular sugar, tastes the most delicious.
If you colored dry ice, could you make colored dry ice bubbles?
What happens if you put powdered sugar in the cotton machine, also what if you make sugar water repellent?

The silicates in powdered sugar to keep it from clumping also prevent it from crystallizing properly after is has been dissolved/melted.
Made some with powdered iced tea mix. Didnt work that great but it tasted awesome.
