    Thank you for your unbiased documentary and for featuring our Filipino Martial Arts with respect, I love how you showcased not just the martial arts itself but our culture as well.
    Thank you so much, we are all brothers no matter what nationality and martial arts we practiced, we are all one human race. Thank you. My respect for this show is really really high! 🦾 Big salute! Thank you Jozev and Evan ❤️

    Eskrima is closely related to Silat an ancient Southeast Asian martial art which is also practiced in southern Philippines. It was only named "Eskrima" because Filipinos, before 1900's , speak Spanish as a second language.

      Imagine southeast Asia without roads and the sea as the road. Then your north and south boundaries disappears

    The term eskrima is from the Spanish word esgrima. However, the archipelago natives already had their own system of fighting way before the Spaniards came. Hence the natives killing the Magellan.

    Only thing bad about this show was that in the intro, it discredited the native origins of FMA and attributed its style to Spain. It's like saying Bruce Lee was only good because he learned Western boxing. The Chinese parts of the show are excellent, though. I wish the production was entirely done by Asians.

    • @CoinOrc
      @CoinOrc ปีที่แล้ว

      It was entirely produced by Asians, specifically Chinese. Look at the credits. This is a Hong Kong show that was later translated. It’s racist of you to assume that “white people” must have been involved in the production just because the show got some facts wrong.

    • @oodo2908
      @oodo2908 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoinOrc I didn't say anything about White people. You assumed that. And an Asian person would not have written something so silly as the American narrator said. Not all parts of production are listed in credits. There are always Western edits when something un-Western is marketed to Westerners. The end English commentary was quite dumb, too. No one looks up to Lapu Lapu.
      Instead of thinking 'racist', try 'culturist'. Racist is totally inaccurate. You are very poor with 'isms'. If I was as dumb as you, I would have called the English commentary 'racist' since it disregards thousands of years of pre-colonial culture. If you call me racist, you must also call this episode racist, as well as the production staff of self-loathing Asians, or perhaps E. Asians who are racist against S.E. Asians.
      Go all the way, bro. Adding in a race I never mentioned and then accusing me of racism is very half-ass. Be a winner.

      The intro part is totally misleading even though I'm not Filipino...but i believe escrima kali is much more older than Spanish sword fighting...thing is spaniard tried to ban this...locals preserved it using sticks and incorporated into dance forms

    the word Eskrima is from spanish word, but Before the Spanish came, the Filipinos had their own martial arts

  • @kabalangay3104
    @kabalangay3104 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is misleading. Its just the word but originally escrima rooted from kali.

    Eskrima is serious stuff but unless we weapons spar , MMA has been in the public now for 20+ years , that is the proving grounds .
