    I've heard the phrase "drive it like you stole it". I think it should now be " drive it like you're reviewing it". Awesome job!

    For future reviews, can you try to go up that gauntlet without momentum? I'd like to see how well the 4WD system work on these SUV's. Also gives the viewer a sample of how it might perform in the snow.

    Although nobody wants to see this, I'd love to see how a manual transmission FWD CX-5 would perform under these conditions.

    Hey Dave, I just got the CX-5 2016 AWD GT. How do you think this would do on the beach? Great video's by the way! I just subscribed.

    Great off-road video. If I may suggest, "enough momentum" really gives really very little information about the power of AWD when driving uphill or driving through a small ponding

    I know a previous comment stated the same thing, but I'd love to see a Buick Enclave off-road test. If not, maybe the Acadia or Traverse. I know the platform is pretty dated now, but I would like to see the capabilities of a nice large family hauler that's not a truck based SUV. I'm even curious to see the Toyota Sienna AWD on this course haha!

    Hello. Does the CX-5 have a similar system to replace the Hill Descent Control? I am worried that, in winter, going down a hill with snow/ice, might be a little tricky. Especially with the automatic transmission. Thanks!

    You never made it up the gauntlet all of the way with the VW Tiguan. You tested a front drive only one. Still would like to see you test a 4Motion version. :)

    My husband and I are going to buy a cx 5. We arent looking for something that would go off road very much but as you show us it can do it. My concern is with the smaller engin am I going to have a problem with going off road? Do you think the smaller one will be up to the task or no?

  • @stevehudson4408

    How much damage do you cause these cars when you go off road? Do the people you borrow them from know you are doing this? I cringe when i see the bumpers hit the ground. lol

      From the look of things in the videos, it doesn't seem like any damage is caused.
      I'm one of the few who frequently drive on pretty rough forest roads in the PNW, to get to wilderness areas for recreation. I like to see what these cars are capable of. Keep the videos coming. If you can get the Honda HV-R and Mazda's CX-3, when they release, I'd love to see your review.

    Is theAWD system any better than the previous mazda CX-5?? or is it the same? I am trying to compare it with your previous mazda CX-5 2015 off road steep hill climb test which it failed.

    • @andmaine6656
      @andmaine6656 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Panayiotis Palmiris
      Basically the same system... last time it failed to make it was speed and also the 19" tires. If it had true off-road tires it would have made it.

    • @panayiotispalmiris1750
      @panayiotispalmiris1750 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks. This AWD system is not enough for my needs. I need a better AWD system like the one on Mitsubishi Outlander or Honda/Accura SH-AWD or Honda Pilot or Subaru Forester or maybe Hyundai Santa Fe. These would have made the climb.. My wife drives a CR-V 2013 AWD whose AWD firmware was updated due to failure of the rear wheels on sand. The problem now is the high fuel consumption. From about 9l/100km it rose to 11l/100km (2.0 l petrol automatic). I did test to climb up a steep sandy hill with success, as well as snow driving and beach driving. As I said the fuel consumption rose dramatically after the AWD firmware installation.

    • @andmaine6656
      @andmaine6656 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Panayiotis Palmiris
      Those are some good systems but basically street tires likes on Mazda test vehicle are never going to be good for off-road traction. As in snow... tires are more important than the AWD system.

    • @panayiotispalmiris1750
      @panayiotispalmiris1750 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +AnD MAine I would first increase 2-3 cm ground clearance for better off road. Then I would install maybe off road tyres but that would increase also driving noise so I am a bit skeptical. I would go for something in between like multi weather tyres with some off road capability. I Don't know if such a tyre exist:)

  • @Quagmire88
    @Quagmire88 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you are going to be doing anything "off-road" with this vehicle, you wouldn't get the GT trim level. The low profile tires and 19in rims would not perform all too well, not to mention pretty expensive if needed to replace due to damage...

    • @everymandriver
      @everymandriver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Quagmire88 good call - Dave, Everyman Driver

    • @pkolacz
      @pkolacz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Quagmire88 to clarify: the tires are not low-profile in the 19in version - these are 225/55 so not bad for **light** off-road.

    Man, you REALLY need a second person when filming these, we're missing the most interesting part - how and when the AWD system starts to transfer engine's power to rear axle. In whole 10 minute video, there's less than 30 seconds of such scenes.
    Also, you should probably drive much slower through mud or when going up the hill - more chances to see AWD system actually doing something.

    The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has a more modern design and looks much better than the 2016 Mazda CX-5.
    This Mazda has a really cheap, tacky design... it looks submissive rather than dominant.
    If it's anything like previous Mazdas, the inside materials will all be cheap plastic.
    And the numb handling of the recent Mazdas is worrying.

      He/She is just a typical Korean Chaebol- Government Financially Backed Monopolies, college kid hired to write bad reviews and smear the reputation of their competition. Often times hiring their competition homeland’s kids to do a bad review and economical treason to their country’s products. Their acts are well documented in Asia. Please pass the voice, don’t fall for their lame economic war tactics.
      There are like 5-6 guys thrashing Japanese Cars (specially Mazda and Lexus) all over TH-cam (United Korea, Marcus Jensen, Shirazi, Achtung!, Stefan Schmidt, Artilheiro, RealMadridSuperiority) , leaving messages to themselves, trying to lie and “validate” their mutual defacing-the-competition-agendas. Lamest animals on the planet….

      +Nirvana J Yes, and it's annoying as heck with them on every review I see them on. Literally the whole Hyundai is more reliable than Mazda spam is annoying and bs. Hyundai is just getting to the top 10 in Consumer Reports most reliabe car manufacturers and Mazda has been in the top 5 of that list for the last 3 years.

    Cool car, Mazada needs to rid the car of the big happy face grill, it's effeminate. I have yet to see a man driving this car in real life. Are the buyers mostly girls?

  • @papayafruitch

    Everyone NEEDS to check the 2015 JD Power Vehicle Quality Study results. Mazda, Fiat and Subaru make the lowest quality and most unreliable vehicles in the industry.
    This Mazda also looks really cheap and tacky with all the cheap plastics in the interior.
    And the weakest point with Mazdas is their loud road noise. And that seems to be a problem with this 2016 Mazda CX-5 as well.
    RIP Mazda.
