FUN FACTS: many real life Drag Queens, who are fans of the movie, stated that the most unrealistic thing about the film is that they're in drag all day every day. In real life, Drag Queens only dress in drag when they're performing, aka working. Even Ru Paul has stated multiple times that these days, if you see him in drag, it's because he got cut a big check. Other than that, he's rocking his fashionable everyday clothes
Just came across you guys page. Watched a few videos. You two guys, do great with LGBT movies. Just to inform you. Drag is a job. Being trans is a form of an authentic human being. They do over lap sometimes. Like your friend said, someone str8/gay/or trans can do drag. I think cause of time, budget, or understanding. In the movie they only get out of drag at the beginning. 📠😊 Ps: There is a twin movie. Made about the same time in a different country. Like NASA competing 2 get on the moon 1st😂. In that movie “priscilla queen of the desert”. I believe Patrick Swayze character is trans. Which is why in this one, Vida talks about acceptance; for who she is. 👋🏾 Anyway great movie reviews ✌🏾❤
Too many movie clips, too much chatter so you missed most of the movie, and doesn't watch until the end.. Just disappointing and annoying.. But at least you attempted this gem and cult classic...
I was SO EXCITED to see y'all do this movie. Like....just before Pride month ends. Gotta get it in rq lol Even though the reaction is only 16 mins long (5 of which is that same scene from Blade 🤣) and you turned it off before it was over, I'm glad you watched it. And yeah, it is a bit "hmmm" because they aren't trans, but they're literally always in drag from the first scene in which they're getting ready for the competition, onward. I'm assuming it's because it wouldn't be interesting otherwise. All the various situations that make up 90% of the plot would be removed. So is it practical or realistic? Not especially. Do we give any f***s? Not especially. My favorite line is when Pateick Swayze says, "When a lady says no she means--*deep voice* GET YOUR HAND OFF MY DICK, BUDDY!" 🤣👏 Love it. This has been an LGBTQ fav of mine for years. Happy Pride everybody 💖❤🧡💛💙💜🖤
How they're trying to protray them in the movie is that they are drag queens. However, a drag queen would only dress that way while performing and on a day-to-day basis they would just be dressed like a guy, maybe somewhat feminine, but presenting as a man. The movie presents them as gay men who live their lives as women. To me they seem like they could be transgender people who are also drag queens, or they are gay men who are drag queens that simply like to dress as women on a day to day basis.
That was a criticism I recall from when it came out. What it DOES sorta get right is the... overlap between drag and gender stuff. The drag community was often the context for someone to even figure out "oh wait I'm not just gay I have gender issues" so there was often a lot of overlap, especially misunderstood when seen from the outside. I do recall Leguizamo said he was playing his character as trans. Snipes primarily feels like a queen, despite the issue of everyone being dressed all the time. Swayze is probably intended similar but as a character, resonates really hard with a lot of trans women. During the opening sequence, that look before the smile right after getting the wig on? That is a way way too familiar moment of self recognition...
I prefer this film over the original Australian version of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Also while I'm straight, John Leguizamo as a crossdresser is hot.
People get this confused a lot but those two movies aren't connected at all they just happened to be made and came out around the same time and have similar plots but one is not a version of the other
You literally cut off the last five minutes of the movie, featuring Julie Newmar giving the crown to whom? Guess you'll never know! Meanwhile, the surmise about the cop is not that he found a man in drag attractive. As you say, many men could make that "mistake." His thing was, he found him attractive partly because he was a man. His monologue in the bar is him feeling pent up feelings he had been getting out with sexual assault of women, presumably, rather than just being himself. P.S. You guys probably didn't recognise Chris Penn here, the Sheriff Dullard, from his first movie. He was the farmboy in "Footloose" who Kevin Bacon's character teaches how to dance. He was also Sean Penn's younger brother, before Chris died of a heart attack around age 38, something like ten years ago, maybe longer. P.S. You use the skating thing too much, and it is too long. Clip out the middle if you are going to use it so much.
How many times you gonna make me watch this ice skating uphill clip
As long as you keep trying to ice skate up hill
@@TwoScoopsXD lol 😆 you gonna keep running with this bad joke... alright 👍
Too many times!!!

Wesley Snipes is such a vibe in the movie✨️
A racist vibe
Didn't expect to see you guys watch To Wong Foo, but hey! What a pleasant surprise! 😂❤️
I hope to never hear "ice skating up hill" EVER again.

The wardrobe worn by Swayze was not anywhere near as old as 19th century. More like late 1950's.
This was not his grandma that was his mother
The Birdcage, when are you watching The Birdcage??
so fierce. Patrick Swayze in drag has always given me life as a lil gay boy! hahah xoxo

So you’ve never seen New Jack City,it’s really good and I’d love a reaction to it
I've seen most of it. But never all of it. It's always on TV like Baby Boy
Ice skate up hill
This was almost good. Yet unfulfilled.
