Deer could care less about the trail camera. I've never had them get spooked by hanging them waist high and there all public land deer but everyone has their ways!
SHHHHHHHHHHH, DONT TELL EVERYBODY..... that camera will get stolen. It doesn't matter where it's at. Trust me, I've had 10 of them taken in the last few years , no matter how private it is!
So deer are smart enough to know what a camera's outline is and are wary of any light, but will stand in the road with highbeams on. Let's reduce the camera's light from 100 ft effectiveness to 20 ft assuming he does angle it down so it doesn't shot over the deers head.

The deer in video must have awful long legs to face that camera head on at 7 feet

Have you found deer that are spooky of regular cameras? The only time I’ve noticed is from cell cams.
