This time around we take a look at another LIVE performance for the holidays with Mylene Farmer's L'Instant X during her show in Bercy '96. Talk about the main force coming in with instrumentation! Hi Dereck! For the next time don't forget to react on original videos of L'Instant X and XXL like you did for "Désenchantée" to compare the two versions. Mylène has always chosen musicians considered among the best in the world because she is a perfectionist to bring her fans to the next level ....
She's absolutely not lip syncing... but this video is from the live dvd, so it is an edit, they may have taken bits and pieces of an audio from another night for some reason.
As far as the outfit, this is pretty much the XTina Dirrty pants... 6 years before Christina !
All the outfits on this tour were made by Paco Rabanne, fashion genious.
Check out "Rêver" from the same show, she is wearing a 15 pounds metal plunging backless dress... also it is one of her most emotional performance ever.

I feel like 2009 rêver had more emotion since it was her bday and seeing everyone wish her a happy birthday is so heartwarming.. I also like 2013 since it shows that the song means a lot to her because you don’t just choose something random to close a concert & the faint guitar in the instrumentation was nice :) but that’s just my opinion. 1996 was also very beautiful & emotional, I agree

Yes, no lip syncing! The video and the audio is most likely from different shows.
You can tell it's an edit as she is wearing gloves on some images and then suddenly no more gloves... This is mix a different nights
@@ericcoulon8875 i remember the gloves thing being very noticeable on "Libertine" too... and by the end of the show same thing with her brown velvet bra, it broke one night and she used the white one from the intro instead, so it switches back and forth in the edit.

She's NOT lipsyncing. The editing gives this impression but she always sings live.
There are some lipsynced parts in all her concerts. It’s not all lipsync or no lipsync. Herer the song is heavily edited in studio and the concert footage is edited like a movie instead of an exact transcription of reality, which gives this lipsync impression.
There are no lipsync parts in her concerts that she tries to hide, that's my point. For instance, we all know that in 2019, Des Larmes and L'Horloge had some lipsync parts, but Mylène was not pretending to sing over them.
Backing vocals provide voice support in all her shows though.
There is never a lipsync during the live but only during certain TV passages like all the other singers.
And she said herself that if we do a live it is to give of her person and not played to move the lips on a soundtrack. it was during an interview but I don’t know which one
After the live from 2019 to another design and a universe apart as in the movie Blade runner.
She was alone on stage for singing and on some passages, she sang with the other self, "the soundtrack". It’s a game between the present and the past in a way.
No ! You’re right of course there are lipsync parts. I saw her a lot of times and she lipsyncs some times. Sorry guys !
@@jeremygonzalez196 Then you should come to more shows, because the only part that is a 100% lipsynced is the first verse of the very first song that she performs (Interstellaires in 2019 for instance). You clearly notice on the second verse and for the rest of the show that she sings 100% live, while still having backing vocals like any other singer.

Oh no, and she def ain't lipsyncing! Btw, one of her background singers on this tour (woman with shoulder length hair) is one of Madonna's background singers Donna DeLory, who covered one of Mylene's songs later.

This song is from the album Anamorphosee 1995. I was in France in 1997 and asked a French guy who he would recommend of current French popular singers. He recommended Mylene Farmer and Patricia Kaas. So I bought this album and another one by Ms. Kaas. Both of them are fantastic. Plus every time I hear them it reminds me of that most excellent trip.

La répétition de la note d'avant que l'ombre, c'est juste la musique du CD qui reprend mais je vais m'arrêter la. Toutes personnes qui a ete à un concert de mylène et qui n'est pas de mauvaise foi cest que c'est du direct. Continue d'être un petit hater si ça te chante.

You gotta see the entrance of this live and the first song Vertige, it’s unforgettable .
The drummer is Abraham Laboriel Junior, present on 3 diffirent tour of Mylène. The 1996 Tour, the Mylenium Tour (1999) and her residence "Avant que l'ombre.... à Bercy" (2006).
He worked as a drummer on all the concerts and in 2006, he shared a song with Mylène that is called "Les mots"
The original song is performed with Seal, a beautiful song, sing in French and English. I recommend you go see the music video ;)
But also the live version of 2006 with Abe Laboriel Jr. so emotional.
To return to Abraham, he is American from Mexico and he has worked with many artists such as Lady Gaga, Shakira, Johnny Hallyday, Kelly Clarkson...
In addition to drums, Laboriel also sings and plays bass, guitar and keyboards.
I can add, he also played with Sting and Paul McCartney.

BTW, "Anamorphosée" is by far her rockier album. To put things into context, Mylène left France and went to live in California after the movie "Giorgino" had bombed at the box office and was panned by critics.
Farmer had been getting a lot of flack from critics, who accused her of being a talentless hack, a fraud whose colossal success was undeserved. Some went so far as to wish that the flop of "Giorgino" would finally put an end to her career, and that she would never recover from such a devastating blow.
Mylène and Boutonnat didn't even speak to each other for months, until Mylène managed to convince him to move on and start working on a new album. Both Mylène and Laurent agreed that it was time to let go of the dark and depressing imagery and themes from her previous songs, and to be more positive.
That's why "Anamorphosée" is so drastically different. While the album was immensely succesful, a lot of her old fans no longer recognized her and didn't like seeing her all sexy on stage, singing at the top of her lungs that she needs "extra large love".
Mylène never does playback she always sings for real in her concerts;)

I've been to this concert.
It was her return after a 7 years hiatus, with a more grunge/rock sound and lyrics less turned towards melancholy.
At that time, she had the biggest screen in Europe on stage.
She is not lipsyncing but this official video is quite overproduced.
If you find unofficial recordings, you will hear she is singing live.
And she is famous for mixing up lyrics sometimes😄.
She had to stop touring because she fell off the stage and had on open wound broken wrist. What is funny is during that time she released a single from her album called "Comme j'ai mal" (this is how I hurt) 😅
She returned few months later to finish the tour.

"Live à Bercy 1996" is, to me, her best concert. Not the most impressive or spectacular, but musically, it's really Mylene with her rock band. I became a real fan with this one

Live à Bercy is Mylène Farmer's album retracing her series of concerts at the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy during the Tour 1996 tour.
It was in May 1997 that the album and the Live video in Bercy were released.
The album was a huge success (over 900,000 copies sold1) and holds the record for the best-selling live album in France2 for a French-speaking artist3. The video was also a great success with more than 300,000 sales, it's incredible and rare to see a result for a French artist.

Thanks dereck ! It’s true that we fans of Mylène are always delighted to see on of your reactions !! BUT I sometimes deplore the agression of some people who do not accept criticism . I ´ve been to see her in concert several times and if it’s true that she doesn’t have a big voice ,what i like about her , she has a timbre of melancholy voice ..she is honest , these lyrics are incredible . I ´ve always loved her , she tears often and sometimes she ´s wrong .but she is connected to us .
What really matters to me is his unique universe .

Since you are into "rock" Mylène, dear Dereck, I suggest and recommend you watch the 1996 live version of "Vertige" that is the sexy, rock (heavy on electric guitar) opening to the very same concert. Trust me, you will not regret it! Enjoy the festive season & take care.
Abraham plays a notable role in the Avant Que L'ombre concert at Bercy, Paris, where he leaves the drums and joins Mylène singing the English vocals of her song Les Mots (originally released by Mylène & Seal). With regard to her lypsynching, as I attended this concert, this in my opinion is untrue. When Mylène performs she gives it her ALL.

Great one! The band is mostly made of American musicians as Mylene was living in LA at the time. She has done lip-sync in the past, especially on TV, but I think this one is actually live. Not sure though :) Drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr, his father is a legendary bassist and he is Paul McCarthney's drummer now.
WHAT IS AMAZING WITH ABE LABORIEL IS THAT HIS SOUND IS ABSOLUTELY ACOUSTIC AND NATURAL, STRAIGHT MASSIVE RIMSHOTS! AND HE IMPROVISES ALL FILLS. THICK STICKS, AND DRUMS AND CYMBALS ARE OVERSIZED LIKE HIM (LARGE AND TALL, LIKE JOHN BONHAM FOR INSTANCE).

No lipsync ;-), just compare with the studio record. She has never performed any playback in concert but only on TV
She doesn't lipsync! Whenever she has the back up vocals she doesn't hide from it. There are tons of bootlegs of her concert and you can listen, each day have a few mistakes or changes to her voice because she sings live. Don't let the DVD fool you it's just a movie.
The drummer is Abe Laboriel Jr and you should watch "Les Mots" from the "Avant que L'ombre"-concerts 2006. Abe shows he's not just one of the best drummers ever, he can also sing. The song was originally a wonderful duet with Mylene and Seal, but Abe even lifts the song to new hights. And as many have already pointed out....Mylene is not lipsyncing! Thanks for all your amusing reaction videos and I wish you a very merry Xmas!
In 1996 she didn’t lip sync but the vocals were very produced. People/critics also weren’t happy with it .. and yeah it is pretty sad
That was Mylène's 2nd live tours (first of her concerts ever being in 1989)! It's so impressive when thinking back; it was such a huge production and she already had such a stage presence!

Well, that's your opinion... I think only the first part of the show was a bit "boring" but after that it was amazing! I really liked the outfits, Mylène's hair, and also the fact that she sang one of my favorite songs: "Et pourtant"

@ARL CRT Of course her voice is somtimes bad. It's true. But isn't yours ? Did you ever try to sing in a huge show in front of thousands people with band return in your ears and humongous sound volume in the venue ? Just have a try... And we talk later.

OMG I totally forgot that the short brown chorist/dancer girl is my favorite back vocalist/dancer on Madonna"s tour since the end of the 80's!! This is the first time Mylène perform this song on stage from her famous come Back album Anamorphosée! : "Papa Noêl quand tu descendra du ciel" Christmas dad when you descends from the sky , that's why it's a christmas song?? LOL This is only her second tour show... the first one is in 1986!!! So 10 years later... the second part, it's only a costume change oh maybe she's coming back from the ceiling on a giant mechanical spider to sing Alice...I don't really remember.!!! I have the whole show on VHS and CD!!!

The drummer is Abraham Laboriel Junior. And like the other i can say that Mylène never do lip sync when she is in concert. Every fan now that. She even use to forget some lyrics and make mistakes during concert. I think there is a video on youtube with all her lyrics mistakes.

if you look attentively, the video are from different dates. in some camera shots, her hairstyle is not styled in the same way. sometimes she wear gloves and sometimes not. Even her makeup look not always exactly the same.
