Honestly! Thank you for introducing this Australian to Mylene a few months ago. I can’t understand everything she sings yet but still feel every emotion and absolutely floored by her concerts. Next time she has a concert I am going to make the trip to France. No doubts.

They're usually sold out 20 minutes after they're on sale. And that's for concerts that are 2 or 3 years away.

XXL is one of my Mylene-favourites. I think it is the most extatic song. And it is extatic !! The two long tones in the refrain make me goosebumps... everytime. And the guitars! I like it. comparebale with the guitars in Je taim melancholie .. so powerfull.

XXL is from the same album as California. Other rock-out numbers from the same album are Vertige and a single L'Instant X. Actually the whole album has that feel cuz it was heavily influenced by American rock music and was recorded in L.A.

The original official video is in black and white, set in the turn into the 20th century, at a rural train station and on a passenger train of the era. You only see her at the chorus, on the front of the train like a combination “hood ornament” and the train whistle - the way she is holding the note is similar to the train whistle, with the Doppler effect as it passes and the tone drops as a result.
Either this or 2013 are my fav vers of this song.. it’s hard to choose, of course, but the 2013 remix gives it a unique spin. It starts off slow and then suddenly builds up after the first chorus!! I really think you should react to a whole concert sometime btw, for example 2009 since there are so many songs to recommend from that concert alone! So many great hits!!

This song is one of my absolute favorites by Mylène, because I love her rock side, and this guitar intro is ICONIC. If you want more of rock Mylène I suggest you watch the intro + Vertige from the 1996 concert (Live à Bercy) and also Libertine, L’instant X or Tomber 7 Fois from the same concert. It’s the concert with the most rock vibes. I really can’t wait to see your next reaction, it’s always so great to see you discovering Mylene’s music !

Like other propose, you have to watch her live of 1996 for " intro + vertige ", "que mon coeur lâche", "l'instant x", "tomber 7 fois" those 4 songs are sooo rock ! ( there is a english version for "que mon coeur lâche" wish is my soul is slashed but the version is not good as the original version )
her 80s clip are pure epic ! beyond my control is one of my favorite ♡

All the song from 2009 concert are pretty much rock (she does a new instrumentalisation for each concert). I recommend Sans contrefaçon 2009 stade de france. You can't make it more rock than this song. A classic Mylene. One of her most famous song. Seriously, there isn't one party in France even today in which this song doesn't appear in.

I would say that" L'instant X" might be the heaviest on guitars ( you 'll find an official Music video for that track).

Hi Dereck THANK YOU for this !!! So you need one more thing to understand why she is a living legend over here in Europe and in France. To understand you should react to the video clips of « Sans contrefaçon », « libertine » & « pourvu qu’elles soient douces » : back in the 80’s Mylène was the first and only French singer to have imported movie like vidéo clips like Micheal Jackson used to do. Once you have watched these three you will, for sure understand how she started and the recurrent theme of her songs from the 80’s up until now, which are : sex, death, religion and love ; but for Mylène it all started with sex ! (That is why you need to watch these vidéos clips to understand) ; once you’ve done that you can react to them live ! People go insane ! Especially in 2009 in the stadium of France with « pourvu qu’elles soient douces » where Mylène is simulating a sexual act on stage ! It is nut !)

@@Elfangel85 live 2019 is more interesting than mylenium. The version of live 2019 is different than the original and this make the song better
@@enzoschroeder7158 It just makes it different, not necessarily better. I prefer the original arrangement and those beautiful high notes in Mylenium. There was also no auto-tune used in it, so it's much more pleasant for ears.

On a besoin d'amooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... we all need love!! XXL in on her Anamorphosée album recorded in LA (that's why it's more rock, I think there was the guitarist of Red Hot Chilli Peppers at the recording sessions).. It was the first time she went to LA and I think it's the only time she went there to record.

XXL, one of Mylene's songs that quasi all generations know. In the video clip, she was fixed, during hours, to the front of a locomotive of a train that sometimes went fast, epic!
