Well done on another good round on a cracking North Wales gem. Agree with you that it plays amongst the hardest especially if the wind gets up. Looking forward to your New Year adventures. All the best. 😊😊
Thanks for sharing your golf with us all again James. It seemed like the wind didn’t help you today along with others coming through you on the course - kinda costing you a few strokes. Look forward to the next round already. Loving the musical interludes too!! 😉

Another nice video James, amazing quality for an old iphone. Some of the holes at Abergele are quite tricky so 91 is ok. A lot of the prices of the N.Wales courses have rocketed over the last 2 years or so, have played here for £15 not that long ago and Conwy £100 + next year.
I've tried using my iphone 15 pro but the HDR produces a weird bleached out effect. I will sort out the settings one day plus I need to get a new mic. I agree about the green fee prices in North Wales. Many have risen steeply and some courses seem empty at twilight hours which is a shame. It's a trade off as being too cheap must increase wear and tear on a course. But you'd think clubs would be happy making extra money from the bar, pro shop & hiring buggies? I wanted to play a few other places this year such as Caernarfon, Holyhead and Bull Bay. But the green fees were all slightly too high for me as I have to factor in fuel costs. I did make an exception and played Conwy for £60 in the autumn which will be next weeks video :) Tenby GC might have had the biggest change as I think they doubled from £45 to £90 for visitors! Golfnow is always an option and I'll probably be using it a lot more in the future. Thanks for watching 👍👍👍
I can never play well if i feel I'm being rushed through, it happens more often than id like, especially if i arrive with time for the driving range, but i am told by the starter that i can go next on the box. I think that may have contributed to 3 putts adding up..Tough greens don't help either...We have all had these days playing this funny ol game...As always i enjoyed watching it and look forward to the next adventure james.
Always a relatable treat James; I had an unforgivable 3 putt, earlier and also missed a tiddler. I do enjoy the luck aspects of the game; I holed a highly unlikely one for balance. I 'm still trying to puzzle out how you got away with the first hole. Funny old game!
Two things - twilight / gimmie putts: 1) Twilight golf stresses me out as a race against time. I am more of a first guy out player lol! 2) Gimmie putts. I really want to stop taking any gimmies but i do worry about pace of play. I love that you finish them out good/bad/ugly. It is true golf. But what do we think about 4-somes for pace of play?
Great round and well played. Talking of meltdowns, it happens and is at times inexplicable, had issues with my 4 iron then boom several rounds later cant go wrong!!! Its me i know,do all my driving with a 2 iron so the rest should be easier-not always the case?
Cheers Tommy, working out the yardages to every shot does add to editing time. I'm experimenting with the desktop version of Shot Tracer pro now so the tracers might look different in future 👍👍👍
Enjoy your channel, beautiful courses in Wales!! Are you practising single plane golf? I'm almost 60 and am struggling with less flexiblity. Do you intentionallty have a short back swing or are you also struggling with the same issues? Cheers
I'm not intentionally practicing single plane golf. I used to have a weird grip when I started which caused me to have a very short swing. When I changed to a normal grip my backswing simply never got any longer. I'm not very flexible so that could contribute to it all. I might try again this winter with a coach to improve the swing but I say that every year! :)
So frustrating when it's not going your way. Some decent shots in there though. Wandering where you get the digital score card from that you show, would like to have something like that instead of my pile of score cards with scribbled notes on them!
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 thank you for letting me know and keep posting the videos as its given me so much inspiration to keep going myself, only started in April after a 25 year hiatus from it and am slowly getting better. Keep it up👍👍
Buy a lottery ticket James, because there was never any chance of a 7 iron getting over those trees and the follow up PW was never going to go under the branches of the tree. But look at the result! No pictures on the score card though! 😂 On a serious note though, there were a lot of really, really good shots in there. I’m with you btw, duck in hoisin sauce.
A 14.4 handicap golfer is 'just going to hit a low hook shot through the trees'. A challenging shot for a world top 10 player. But hey, why not have a go?
My approach play has been poor all season. I did buy some Ping I10 irons which I thought would fix my issues but they were 2 inches cut down! I will try again next year 👍👍👍
With the current handicap system that round would not impact your handicap. It’s calculated from the best 8 rounds out of the last 20. It would only come into play in the future if you fail to achieve 8 better rounds than this one.
I only hit the 9 wood once this day on the 7th hole. It's still great but goes best from the semi rough. My 7 wood goes slightly further so I prefer to use that from the fairway or teeing off. I wish I'd switched out my 5 iron and 4 wood sooner! :)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 Can't remember where I heard it, but 'Golf's a funny old game', 'Aye, but it's not meant to be...'. Always the high point of the week when another of your videos drops. Long may they continue.
I'm not a member anywhere right now which I why I play so many different courses. My handicap is tracked through the Golfshot app which measures all my scores against par. It's pretty accurate but I always make 1 or 2 course management errors so my true handicap would probably be a shot or 2 lower. 2 Years ago I had my handicap down to 11.6 and I was very protective about it. I didn't play in tough weather conditions or some of the harder courses. Now I don't care and play anything and everything and I'm a better player overall. I would never have shot an EV back nine at North Wales Golf Club if I didn't change my outlook 👍👍👍
@ I am the same. I was 8.2 just before the pandemic but now 15. I play in all weathers and don’t care anymore. In the old system you could never have got your handicap up so quickly!
Maybe a swing rebuild this winter is in order. I've had a lot of back pain after golf and at times my lower back feels totally wrecked. It's all alleviated as long as I do certain back stretches including hanging from a pull up bar and some light weight training. I know what I'm doing wrong but I need a set of lessons with a decent pro to bed in a swing that is more rotation and less arms 👍👍👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 Try the vertical line swing. More up and down and a bit less rotational. Supposedly easier on the lower back. Cat Cow exercise in the meantime. Helps me.
As a general rule at most Golf clubs, if you don’t have permission, you turn up and the pro shop is closed , you don’t go in the course! Members only. I think you knew exactly what you were doing.
You're right my putting stroke is not so repeatable. I've been experimenting tucking my right elbow in putting. It helps a lot with 5-15ft putts but not so much close range and lag putting. Always so much to work on with golf that's why we love it! :)
