Used to watch your videos, think you tube unsubscried me. But all of a sudden your back in my feed. Glad. Enjoyable to see a bluntly honest youtube golfer showing all his shots, and, to be honest see a golfer that is relatable to our (high handicappers, though you're better than me) game. And your attitude is awesome. You don't let bad shots ruin your round, and it's great to live vicariously with your good to greet shots. And though I haven't watched in a while, your putting, especially your lag putts has improved even more. Keep putting out videos dude. Nice to see honest, real golf Thank you for that. 👍
Some nice golf there, well done. Several friends of mine are no longer here to swing a club so even if you don’t play well, you have those lovely views and you’re out in the fresh air so you’re still a winner! 👏👍
I always enjoy your videos, if I said that they are nice, it is not a negative, just watching you around North Wales doing your thing with your technique is fascinating. Your short game is excellent and is a big reason for your decent handicap. I am in awe at how your swing gets you to hit a ball so far - your contact must be perfect at times. Anyway - hope to see much more of your videos and commentary.
I used to use a footpath at North Berwick to get to my sea angling marks and the golfers were the rudest and most pompous people I've ever met . I was always respectful, but I guess they were all privileged hedge fund investors or something equally disgusting.. I found your channel through the algorithms and absolutely love it . I've not played golf ever seriously, but would love to give it a go . Your videos are really entertaining and enjoy your peaceful and calm demeanour. Best wishes
Really enjoyed watching this, it's good honest amateur golf, which most of us can relate too (well i can playing off hc12). Great stuff, tbf you were decent off the tee, just lost a lot on the mid range puts.
Well done James, some good holes and golf there, despite what you felt about the putting! I've played there a few times and it can be a really tough track, especially when the wind is up, which it usually is! You seemed to have a nice, calmer day for it. The 5th, 11th and 13th are real brutes when you are playing straight into the wind! I usually play there in opens when it is actually cheaper than a normal green fee, funnily enough!
Cheers Johnny. You're right the wind really can blow on this course. The previous time I played Conwy I scored 93 so I'm moving in the right direction! :)
Thanks as ever for taking us with you James. You're driving and irons were generally very good. It's interesting that is now an average round for you - I thought you played really well. So many GIRs or close. Unlucky with some of those putts. Distance control excellent. Keep it up as very enjoyable to watch. Plus if you take the triple out, then you're 15 over. Very respectable around a tight course!
What it must be like to play some of the most beautiful courses at your own speed. Every time I go out alone to play I get matched up with 1) someone that will shoot 160, 2) someone that will shoot 74, 3) someone that will shoot 99 but have studied everything I am doing wrong by my second shot. Beautiful round, so much fun to watch.
Started well, finished well. Lovely course and what a great day you had. In the end only 4 shots over your target which most of us would be really delighted with! Looking forward to your next outing.
Hey James, golf is a funny ol game,..It often takes me a few rolls to get the pace, even on courses I'm familiar with. Again another beauty of a course, nice views, greens looked tricky....Do you snack throughout your round? Snacking and hydration help maintain concentration...Like you said, we have all had those days...more than i'd like to mention...As always enjoyed watching mate! Cheers!
Yeah, I normally drink an energy sports drink from the 1st & eat a sandwich wrap around the 10th hole. Apart from that it's plenty of water and the odd chocolate bar or nut snack. I think this day I was mentally tired from working out which fairway bunkers to avoid on the tees. Also, searching in the rough always seems to knock me out of rhythm. At the end of the day it's all good experience for next time! :)
Enjoyed your video James. I thought you did well apart from a couple of blow up holes (which we all have at some time). Interesting for me to see this course as my Son had lessons there (and still does) earlier this year. He's now a member at Penmaemawr, and I'll be having a round there with him over Christmas. I'd like to get on Conwy in the future, looks great.
Another great video James. I have played Conwy many times and really enjoy it. I find the 17 my nemesis hole. I also think your putting is on the up. Your lag putting is really good, just concentrate on the 10 footers.
What a treat James, beautiful course and magnificent sunset! Don't be too hard on yourself as regards the bread and butter, those old links greens are always tough to putt well as a visitor with slopes and lots of hidden breaks that require a member's experience, nil carborundum ... 👍⛳
James, I really appreciate your videos. I plan on making my second trip to Wales this summer to watch the Women’s Open and play a few rounds. Hoping to bring a few buddies with me. On another note, have you ever considered doing a video with Dan Grieve? Us average guys would really benefit from that.
The beauty of golf and why we love it so much is the fact it doesn't matter how good or not you feel before your round you never know what you gonna get and how you'll play 😂
What a lovely sunset on the 18th. I don’t think you did shank it James. In your slo-mo it looked like the club face was open. No matter, thanks for bringing us a good video. Looking forward to your vlogs from Thailand.
Great videos as always James. Soooo jealous. I was hoping to play Conwy on holiday this June but they had the National PGA for the whole week so I couldn’t play. It’s certainly at the top of my list to play next time I’m in the area. Well played on a tough course 👏
great to see your progression and don't worry about the bunker mis-hap on the 5th at Leasowe.I've been a member there for over 50 years and believe me there has been a few medal rounds ended there, but it does increase the bar takings#
Have a look at the Cleveland Hy-Wood +3 and excellent club its a cross between a Hybrid and a wood great club to use gives you a little more distance than a 7 wood and so easy to hit off the fairway and the rough
Really love seeing this course in a vlog again. And you didn't hit it in to the gorse a la Mon. Shiels! edit: How did you not use that sunset shot on 18 tee as your thumb?!!! Beautiful light.
A bit of practice on the living room carpet will do wonders for those 3 footers. Reckon you could knock off 4-5 shots per round with a little practice. Great videos 👌
R you off to Thailand again soon I go each year and in April treated myself to a game at Windmill Summit ( not far from the Airport in Bangkok ) in the morning before flying home in the afternoon, great course .
Your golf has progressed so much over the last couple of years James. Conway is a tough course at the best of times, especially the back nine. 18 over isn't bad at all. And never say the dreaded 'S' word out loud!!😲

you are a very good golfer James. Please share how you get so much distance with a limited back swing, I think you turn well and properly finish your swing. Thanks for really good content, I really enjoy your narrative; assuming you are retired, were you in the broadcast business?
@@notaperfectgolfer3489well, that's impressive, thanks, I aspire to your level as a senior player coming to the game later in life. Your content production quality is exceptional, keep it coming, it's very entertaining. I'll make sure to make good contact with the ball.
Another class video James, 90 around Conwy is decent. Its a great course ive played many times , its sad that its starting to price your average UK golfer out of playing it. Considering its near neighbour (North Wales club) that you can play for half the price i don’t think its worth the £125 they are charging for next summer.

James doesn’t hit it very long …his “secret” is he tends to hit it straight off the tee, and putts well. Good course management 👍
I was wondering as well; over 200 with barely a half backswing needs a good strike.
