I recently replaced my original struts/shocks on my W204 with Bilstein B4's. I checked with Bilstein who cross referenced the part and double checked again. The Bilstein strut seemed to have a shorter piston than the original and I had to compress the spring quite a bit. I checked again with Bilstein and they assured me it was the correct fitment with standard/comfort springs and that the piston would extend further out under the tension of the spring. Just seemed odd to me, never heard of that before.
Why would you want to CUT the springs? If you want to lower the car, do it properly. Use lowered coils like H&R or Eibach springs and the correct struts for 'sports' suspension which have a shorter piston. Standard length shocks with short/cut springs will bottom out over bumps. A cut spring could come loose because it is too short. Stupid idea...

Sports suspension has shorter ones
Nice work man you know your stuff. Great way I like how you use penetrating fluid at all the joints.

Тереть металлической щеткой по кузову-гениально.
Can you cut the springs on a W204 ok? Doesnt look to have a flattened off pig tail or squared end?
