I generally avoid watermarking, unfortunately this company is on a rampage right now and with the previous video being caught up in copyright dispute, I can't risk another late block, so this was the safest option. I don't plan on making this routine, and I hope you can still enjoy this reaction video. Many thanks to you all and best wishes in this holiday season 💜
The watermark is not distracting from the great reaction.
The watermark is fine. Maybe a little bit smaller. In any case, we watch these video's for your reactions.
I don't find that watermark distracting. As the other commenters said, it's more about your reaction than the film.
Still don't understand why companies would be trying to block what is basically free advertising. I definitely am going to get a Blu-ray as soon as possible, and WB have to thank you for that.
Yours is hardly distracting at all. I've seen far worse watermarks on other reactors videos!
The movie and your reaction is bigger than a watermark. 😁
The movie is a fun ride with a good script and better acting. Geena and Sam had good chemistry.
“Die screaming, motherf*****.” One of the best lines in cinema history.
And he did 😁
Agreed
During an interview, Samuel L Jackson said this was his favorite character to play.
It was a great part for him! Hilarious but also vulnerable
Of all his movies and acting roles, Samuel L. Jackson has repeatedly stated that 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' will always be his favorite. "Mitch Hennessy" is his favorite role. In fact, for years he tried getting a sequel green-lit but the studios never went for it. The idea was to have the girl who played the daughter take over the role of spy from her mother (Charlie Baltimore)
It’s got to be one of my favorites that he’s done too!
Brian Cox is great with such a small role, love the dog licking itself line.
His deadpan delivery omg
To this day I use: "You know what happens when you make an assumption..." Soooo many re-quotable lines. I've read where this role is actually SLJ's favorite.
Nice reaction. This movie's a hidden gem and can only appreciate in value as time goes on.
It holds up really well, I think!
Shane Black was paid the highest salary to date for a script, but director Renny Harlin and Geena Davis (husband and wife at the time) also developed the script together. Harlin on the action scenes and Davis on the character depth.
That makes sense, the action stuff and character arcs were a bit different (still great) from what I’ve seen in other Shane Black-written films
This is such an underrated sleeper. The fact is was filmed in and around my neck of the woods- Western New York was a plus for me. I was in the service and overseas when this came out and it was nice to see a few sites from home
Ooh, a local film location! That is fun 😊
This is a legit underrated classic, idk why but ever since i was little that " im not talking about the linen" line was so goofy it always cracked me up. also Charlie Baltimore is an iconic action badass to me. Merry Xmas : D
The lines are so good
“Chefs do that” Everyone says no to that, but no one mentions that assassins aren’t really known for cutting vegetables.
AHAHA good point 😂
She did all her own stunts in this one. So if you look closely, it's all Gina all the time. Fun!
That’s awesome!
Brilliant movie!!! I own it on DVD and still want it on blu-ray. Geena sold the bad ass action star so well. Her alter ego was amazing and scary. Samuel did a brilliant job as well. Can't believe this isn't discussed more. Her life in the beginning of the movie is so wholesome and sweet, the life I wish I had, but then real life happened HAHAHAHA.
Definitely! Beetlejuice and A League of Their Own are two of my favorites, so to see her so tough and deadly was awesome 🤩 and I love how she comes to terms with her past and becomes a whole person in the end.
She looks adorable in the thumbnail blowing a kiss in her Christmas sweater
This one clearly went under the radar here on youtube. Thank you for giving it a chance.🙂
I’m happy to! Thanks for checking it out 😊
Perfect reaction to this underrated Christmas action movie.
Appreciate it, thank you!
@@RhetoricalThrillKeep these videos coming ! By the way like what you said at 17:28 and 29:54
This movie is a hidden gem! Action, humor, and a badass female lead. What more could you want?
Just finished watching this. An enjoyable reaction as usual. It was great to spend the better part of an hour with you and this movie. I hope you have had, and are still having, a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you my friend! My day has been great and I hope yours was too 💜
I've forgotten how much I loved this movie! Thanks for the reaction and wishing a Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
My pleasure, and merry Christmas to you too!
Merry Christmas!!! 😁🎄 Also I'm sorry copyrights have to be a bunch of video Scrooges!
Merry Christmas to you! It’s not always this bad, I think Warner has a new intern 😂
I do like this film a lot - thanks for doing a reaction - Hope you have a good one.
Thank you, you as well! 😊
thanks for the reaction, I was checking for it :) Merry Christmas (Sam says)...bah humbug (as Mitch says lol)
😊 thanks for being here!
Good reaction. 👍🏾 This movie was really good to me. Please consider reacting to Frequency (2000), if you have not watched it yet 🙏🏾.
If you liked Gina in this you should give Cutthroat Island a watch. I like The Long Kiss Goodnight more but still had fun with Cutthroat Island.
Enjoying your reactions. Merry Christmas and keep going. Looking forward to more in 2024.
Merry Christmas to you, and thank you 😊
I really like Cuthroat Island and thought I was the only one that appreciated the cool and the corny in that film.
Immensely quotable and a fun story. I watch this one every year around this time.
e: The actor who played Daedalus is David Morse, but I can't remember any roles that were so bad as to create that visceral a response to seeing him.
I just did a quick look through his credits, and it must be House. I don’t remember anything but that character must have really made me mad 😆
@@RhetoricalThrill Not Sure where you seen David Morse...... I know him from "Dreamer," "The Green Mile," "The Negotiator" (Also with Samuel L Jackson), "The Rock," "12 Monkeys," "16 Blocks"...... TV's "St Elsewhere was" probably before your time.....
@@CoastalNomad he was a good guy (the father) in Contact, not in it much.
The Langoliers miniseries.
I never seen this movie and omg it was awesome. Thank you Rhetorical and Happy Christmas Eve ❤
I’m glad to hear that, Towana! Merry Christmas to you too 💜
Watching you react made me realize it’s still a buddy movie about Sam and Charlie becoming a team. It’s the Shane Black formula on its ear.
My only problems with this movie come from Renny Harlin and his bombast. This would eventually lead to Cutthroat Island, one of those magic movies that killed a whole studio. Geena Davis took blame for that, but Harlin did the same sort of thing in Die Hard 2, which is my least favorite of those movies. Point being is that he has no taste or restraint, but Davis, Jackson, and Black all delivered on this.
And David Morse was the detective that dug into House, which is the role I always hated him in. Even when he plays a good guy I’m always like ‘why does he make me uncomfortable?’
I’ve heard some stories about Cutthroat Island, that’s for sure! And I believe you’re correct that it’s House I have leftover anger from 😆
great reaction as usual :)
the actor u didnt recognize was the big guard in The Green Mile (AMAZING movie) and the captain the The Rock.
I haven’t seen either of those, but I looked him up and I think it must be House I saw him in 😊
@@RhetoricalThrill u SHOULD SEE !!!!!!!!!!!!! the Green Mile !!!!
AMAZING movie !!!!!!!!!!
This is Samuel L. Jackson's favorite Samuel L. Jackson movie! I see why, some of his best lines and work!
I don’t get why it’s not a staple, it’s Sam Jackson in every sense
OMG, loving your reactions!
Started w/ The Crow. On to this gem.
If you enjoy Geena Davis, i hope CUTTTHROAT ISLAND makes it to your watch list.
It’s on the list! And thank you so much 😊
@@RhetoricalThrill 🥰
@18:15 That actor also played the mercenary that "betrayed" Ed Harris in "The Rock" from 1996 and tried to launch the chemical weapon... maybe that's where you learned to hate him ;)
Never saw The Rock!
@@RhetoricalThrill Another "classic" 90s action film to watch, quite fun too. Another possibility is the cop he played, that tricked Björk out of her savings in "Dancer in the Dark". Definitely, you could not hate him as Jodi Foster's dad in "Contact"... that's all I can remember him in, even though he played in "12 Monkeys", "WWZ", "Drive Angry", "The Green Mile" and "The Hurt Locker", but can not recall his characters in those films.
David Morse and yep, he was in the film, "The Rock" starring Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris, also a slew of other actors - Danny Nucci (Fabrizio from Titanic), John Spencer from The West Wing, Vanessa Marcil from Beverly Hills 90210. A must watch if you like action thrillers.
Cool reaction as always sweetie, you have a Merry Christmas
You too!
@@RhetoricalThrill 🥰❤️👍
Great movie just love Geena and Samuel's chemistry
They were great together, and I loved that there was never really a question of them getting together. It was in true “buddy” style.
Merry Christmas......... Great Reaction....
Not Sure where you seen David Morse...... I know him from "Dreamer," "The Green Mile," "The Negotiator" (Also with Samuel L Jackson), "The Rock," "12 Monkeys," "16 Blocks"...... TV's "St Elsewhere was" probably before your time.....
Yeah, I did a little investigating and I think it must have been House
@22:15 SJ is the coolest guy in this movie.
I mean, yes, but he does get kicked around 😂
If you want to give Samuel L. another shot in an action role.. I'd recommend "Formula 51" aka "The 51st State"... I honestly enjoyed the hell out of it... Really haven't heard anything about it in years.. Another great more dramatic role as in "The Caveman's Valentine" which is a murder mystery... He's done so many films and it's amazing how some just slip off the radar.. And i enjoyed the heck out of "The Hitman's Bodyguard" (and it's sequel).
Good suggestions! I’ll add them
@@RhetoricalThrill i watch tons of crap.. Pre streaming.. so there's tons of flicks.. tonight for Christmas Eve i watched the gloriously (notorious) craptacular "Silent Night, Deadly Night part 2" which among it's fans lives in very special infamy.. Especially with the meme "Garbage Day". Lol... It's become Tradition the last couple years since Kevin Spacey killed my love for my previous favorite Christmas film, "The Ref".. he's just so creepy now a days i find it impossible to enjoy anything he's in (which is painful since he had some amazing films... Although.. Him being a complete scumbag in "Swimming With Sharks" makes that one oddly satisfying.)
@@RhetoricalThrill also.. If you want a WILD action ride with a cast that's INCREDIBLE.. check out Joe Carnahan's "Smokin' Aces". It's a little under the radar.. he previously had directed the fantastic "Narc".. and would go on to direct "Stretch" (a fun lil action film), "The Grey" with Liam Neeson and the movie a adaptation of "The A-Team" which i had a fun time with as well..
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you!
-----
- During the filming of this movie it almost cost Geena Davis her life ...
The line "Life is pain" was pretty fitting, such as it is.
-----
I heard she did her own stunts 😮
-----
@RhetoricalThrill
-----
- Just like Angelina Jolie in the movie 'Salt', yes, she liked doing her own stunts as much as possible.
She was in a relationship with the director of the movie at the time.
They agreed to try to make things as realistic as possible.
But that scene with her tied to the waterwheel got a little too real.
She got hypothermia and worse still, she almost drowned.
-----
There was a continuity error when Timothy cut her side with the knife. First, he cuts her on her right side, but later, her cut is on her left side. But otherwise, this is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Ahaha I didn’t even notice 😂 good eye!
@@RhetoricalThrill I just saw an interview Geena Davis on the James Corden show. He asked her what was the hardest stunt. She said the one when they jump out of the building into the frozen lake. It was a real lake so when they got into the water it was out right freezing. Her and Sam had to get out and get into a hot tub nearby. I think the hardest one was the wheel when they put her on the wheel and put her underwater. Where she regained her memories. That looks like the hardest stunt.
Lots of symbolism and predictions in this movie, re watch it with a critical eye, especially in relation to later actual events.
As a Finn I am sucker for movie reactions to Renny Harlin flicks - guy is Finnish, don'tcha know. The guy is genuinely a talented director, but in Hollywood he was kind of treated as the guy who can save a movie with a terrible script and minimize the losses by giving an entertaining, no-brainer movie. Still, quite the achievement for a guy from a tiny country in the ass end of Europe.
I think this is all I’ve seen from him, but hey, this movie is great at least!
@@RhetoricalThrill He also directed Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger (w/ Sylvester Stallone as lead), Ford Fairlane (w/ Andre Dice Clay; he was a stand-up comedian and a big name back in the 90's), Cutthroat Island (pirate movie that came too early, before the Johnny Depp thing got big) etc.
LAST ACTION HERO is another Shane Black movie!
Oh hell yeah
Did Timothy know sam daughter was his daughter?and it would be great if Samantha daughter end up with mitch son todd if they do sequel ?I'd love to see bonnie wright play sam daughter later on future sequel?
You can't go wrong when watching a Renny Harlin movie, as a fellow Finn. Except Driven, NEVER watch that. Everything else OK. :)
Good to know!
@@RhetoricalThrill But if you are interested in a racing movie, please watch "Rush". It's one of the movies ever.
It's weak.. But..i recently watched Driven.. Story is ass.. But c'mon.. Stallone and Burt Reynolds in the same movie.. Plus the race scenes are fantastic... Granted Kip Pardue and Estella Warren are just a voided sucking black hole of anti charisma....
that Bra was Plot Armour 😂
😂 right?
Do THE MONSTER SQUAD next!
Hennesey still to this dat is Samuel's favorite character he ever did
Not surprising!
WHo do you ship Samantha with?Timothy, mitch or hal
She seemed happy with her fiancé and Mitch seemed a friend and partner only, I didn’t get any romance vibes from them. And Timothy died screaming 😂
This movie is awesome
Yup!
26:10 Well ... if you consider that this movie came out in 1996 and it is about a "violent event with ~3000 victims" ... you have to change your phrasing, because it is not "would work" but rather "did work", because all the three-letter-agencies DID get more money from Congress after said event. If that event was staged or not doesnt even matter ... and since then these agencies have far too much power of SURVEILLANCE and MANIPULATION!
Thank you.
The actor you couldn't remember, of the character you hated, is David Morse.
I still wish I knew what character he played that lives in my shit list 😂
@@RhetoricalThrill Well, as of today he's only been in fifty-four movies and forty-seven t.v. shows of various kinds, so, it should only be torturous to find out.
Check out LAW ABIDING CITIZEN with Gerard Butler and Jaime Foxx keeps you guessing till yje end. Bring your anger
Jabberwocky (1977)
19:56 Don't say things like that and then remain seated:)
Nooooo trust me you don’t want to see 😂
@@RhetoricalThrill Ask any guy at any time - day or night, if he wants to see a behind he hasn't seen before and I guarantee you he'll shake off that 48 hour shift, open his eyes, sit up straight in the chair and say: "Okay, I'm game, lets have a look."
Hello there
You speak too much !
That’s what a reaction video is supposed to be! 😆
wtf do you think this is? the movie?
