Was this the game that Miami kept holding up 4 fingers and when one of the announcers went down to the Miami sidelines to inquire about the meaning of 4 fingers, Miami told them, the 4th quarter is ours... Fortunately Miami was able to back it up...

I went to High School with Benny Blades years ago at Piper High, so glad he had a successful career in the NFL.

If you cannot tell this is far far superior to today's garbage check your eyes.

Watching this made me realize something. If you look at the classics of this rivalry-87, 91, 92, and 00, FSU dominated those games for long stretches. Miami just seemed to have some ability to will itself to victory in the 4th Qtr.

Always. That was a huge part of the heartbreak for FSU fans. The Noles looked magnificent, then let it slip away. They were the only school that went toe-to-toe w/the best Miami teams over and over. If you were there for it, you know it was the greatest rivalry.

That's why Miami always threw up the 4 fingers because they would always dominate the 4th quarter!

@@DooleyDaKidd239To simplify it….our kickers missed chip shots. They weren’t long by any means. My 7 year old daughter could make those extra points and fgs. Little chicken shi* kicker choked away a title. Then because he did so bad, Bobby didn’t even have faith in him to tie it up at the end.

@@DericSorensen I mean, you’re not wrong. Mickey Andrews, our defensive coordinator, decided to pull Deion off of Michael Irvin….a fatal mistake. 19-3 lead and you can never get cute.

Without question one of the best college football games of all time. I was fortunate enough to be at Doak that day. I'm an FSU fan and I never questioned Bobby's decision to go for 2 at the end. But I do have to wonder why Deion was not covering Michael Irvin that day. Thanks for posting.

Loved that Bobby went for 2. Didn’t like the play call though…Looked like only 2 receivers & canes had both double covered….me too on why no Deion on both those long TD passes to Irvin…..

Brent Musberger said it best when he was introducing the Miami defense in particular the DBs, that he feels like he’s been saying those names for 10 years. They were college football for me for the 80s because they played as younger players in big games on TV until they all graduated.

Miami was lucky in this one. If FSU kicks extra point to tie then they would have played OU in Orange Bowl not Miami lol....Canes won most of their big games at home Orange Bowl too much advantage...lol🎉😂🎉

If FSU could kick FGs in the they would have a few more National Championships - the 80s and 90s where great decades for college football. Great game!

This game was EPIC!!!! My Canes won, but no matter who would've won, this was one of the greatest college football games ever played. This was a blessing to watch, and was a blessing to watch and attend those games between 1986 and 1990

I honestly could’ve played kicker that game and done better. Better chance of going for the tie tbh….

Silly days before overtime. Who thought adding 2 point conversions but not OT was a good idea?

NCAA ! They shouldn't be the ones who dictate the rules for college sports because they are one of the most corrupt organizations ever ! The rules they make for College Football are BS ! They cater to the "GOOD OL' BOYS" in the SEC
