You get this feeling that one got there by her own merits, the other, I suspect, just like the Orange Buffon, got someone to sit for her SATS. It's like chalk and cheese. My goodness, yes. Lost amid the debates on school reopenings is a subject that has too long been underplayed -- if not ignored -- in discussions about education in America: the arts. The quest for truth and beauty is an integral part of our humanity. We starve our children's souls if we don't introduce them to this quest early on. Even on a more prosaic level, the arts can be lifelines for children: Theater, music, and other performing arts can help teach us to work together, to support and assist one another, to celebrate life by gathering together -- all essential pieces of what it means to be human. Now, though, whether they're staring into screens at home or [anti-]social distancing and muzzled with masks at school, children aren't getting that. Not all toxins are physical, nor is all death. The human spirit, along with our physical and economic well-being, needs cultivation and nurturance. Please, let's bring the arts back to "center-stage" in our discussions about education policy and funding.

I watched the inauguration yesterday and found Amanda's poem completely and utterly captivating, it spoke of hope on many different levels and after a year that has been horrific around the World...not just in the US...it shone a light, albeit a small one, at a very dark time. Oh, and I loved this clip...it was difficult to tell who was more awestruck at times to be in the presence of the other, that is a recipe for a brilliant interview.

There is this feeling inside myself, hearing and seeing this lady, that style, intelligence, optimism and beautiful words and sentences are back. It gives me more positive feeling about the future. She is a great person and will be an even greater in the future. This is a future leader.
This young woman is truly special. I just realised that even with as many interviews that she has been giving, she always shares something new. So you don't feel like you're watching the exact interview time and again.
She is our voice, for all the words we try to say, but don’t get right, she found the words to show how collectedly we feel but can’t or don’t know how to express or say them, her words are OURS.
I'd translate that kids' book into Finnish, for free, just to get to chat with her about the quirks and nuances of her words and thoughts. What a humble and humbling young superstar.

My goodness, yes. Lost amid the debates on school reopenings is a subject that has too long been underplayed -- if not ignored -- in discussions about education in America: the arts.
The quest for truth and beauty is an integral part of our humanity. We starve our children's souls if we don't introduce them to this quest early on. Even on a more prosaic level,
the arts can be lifelines for children: Theater, music, and other performing arts can help teach us to work together, to support and assist one another, to celebrate life by gathering together -- all essential pieces of what it means to be human. Now, though, whether they're staring into screens at home or [anti-]social distancing and muzzled with masks at school, children aren't getting that.
Not all toxins are physical, nor is all death. The human spirit, along with our physical and economic well-being, needs cultivation and nurturance. Please, let's bring the arts back to "center-stage" in our discussions about education policy and funding.
When God shows up, He really shows up. A woman brought peace into this world before, and I believe it will be a woman who brings peace into this world again.

I'm in Denmark and I LOVED seeing her recite that poem 💙. My Mum who's blind called me and said, that the poem was her favorite thing of the ceremony 🤗. She was also very moved by the President's speech, but LOVED the poem.
When history looks back at the best poets Amanda Gorman will be highly recognized. Her speech yesterday was incredibly. I cannot wait to see where she goes after this in life.

I watched the inauguration yesterday and found Amanda's poem completely and utterly captivating, it spoke of hope on many different levels and after a year that has been horrific around the World...not just in the US...it shone a light, albeit a small one, at a very dark time. Oh, and I loved this clip...it was difficult to tell who was more awestruck at times to be in the presence of the other, that is a recipe for a brilliant interview.

@Richard Pierpoint - “Wise beyond her years” is a reference to her youth, which is almost always accompanied with beauty. I know a 6 year old who is wise beyond his years...but it doesn’t make him a good poet.
I’m so starstruck after watching. So much poise and confidence. Ananda is a vivacious intelligent role model for young women. Can’t wait to see more.

I wouldn't be surprised to see her hosting stuff. She has that smoothiness (wit+grace) that great hosts have.
There is this feeling inside myself, hearing and seeing this lady, that style, intelligence, optimism and beautiful words and sentences are back. It gives me more positive feeling about the future. She is a great person and will be an even greater in the future. This is a future leader.

She’s had a busy day with many interviews, with her words of hope. She’s brilliant and lovely and I’m Crazy over her. I want to hear more of her poems. The Inauguration was more amazing because of her contribution. She was the highlight for me.
She's such an inspiring person! I loved her poem. I remember she left quite an impression back in May when John Krasinski was doing his youtube show and Oprah joined the zoom call. I see brilliance, excellence and positivity radiate from her, she's gonna go places and the world is already better for it!

I'm 65 y.o. Poetry for me has been Robert Frost, until yesterday when I witnessed Amanda Gorman deliver "The Hill We Climb". Now I realize that it is doubtful I will be alive to witness the tremendous things this incredible person will accomplish in the course of her life. That thought deeply saddens me.

When I first watched her recite that powerful poem, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't stop tearing up, I couldn't stop shouting "YES!!!!". Truly inspiring!
