    Summary
Auron MacIntyre discusses his book 'Total State' and his journey from being a journalist to questioning the political system. He shares his observations of the media's manipulation and bias during the Trump era and the erosion of constitutional principles. McIntyre emphasizes the importance of understanding power and the role of the managerial elite in shaping society. He challenges the misconception of individual liberty and highlights the need for order and virtue. MacIntyre also addresses the idea of Christians and power, debunking the notion that Christians should give up power and emphasizing the importance of power in effecting positive change. The conversation explores the concept of the managerial elite structure and its impact on society. It discusses how the large bureaucratic structure of social institutions has led to a lack of organic community and bonds. The commodification of religion, particularly in evangelicalism, is also examined. The conversation then delves into the inevitability of the fall of the total state, highlighting the unsustainability of the current managerial structure. The failure of conservative and non-woke liberal strategies to oppose the total state is discussed. The conversation concludes with a focus on the need for smaller, communal communities and the importance of individuals taking responsibility for their communities.
    Takeaways
The media's manipulation and bias during the Trump era highlighted the need to question the political system and understand power dynamics.
The erosion of constitutional principles and the misconception of individual liberty have led to a loss of order and virtue in society.
The managerial elite, operating through bureaucratic systems, shape and control society, often at the expense of individual freedoms.
Christians should not shy away from power but should use it to effect positive change and uphold Christian values.
The managerial elite structure has led to a lack of organic community and bonds in society.
The commodification of religion in evangelicalism can be dehumanizing and perpetuate individualism.
The total state is unsustainable and will eventually fall due to the limitations of the current managerial structure.
Conservative and non-woke liberal strategies are insufficient to oppose the total state.
Creating smaller, communal communities and taking individual responsibility for one's community is crucial for societal change.

It's very interesting that Curtis Yarvin framed the milieu of prower and converging interests in terms of Christian imagery: "Cathedral" and not some other like a synagogue. 🤔

@@ChrisAthanas yeah, i randomly ran across a podcast with Curtis & BAPs recently, they were having a causal convo., discussing our replacement. or erasure, as some call it. it was pretty interesting.
-- their only concern was how it effects them, the rootless cosmopolitans.
how our people are good, honest, serious, hard-working, employees, and how we have the proper respect for people with money & power, and how we give those types special attention in the service industries...
and how the newcomers do not respect the rich & powerful and are even openly rude to the uppercrust. and how they're curt & disrespectful when waiting on them.
they talked about how it is good for 'us' to have jobs where we work hard and how it ruins us to have a lot of money for luxury. of course, they were not using slur-words, towards us, like a lot of their co-ethnics do, but that same inferior sentiment was there.
it was irritating, but not surprising, listening to them, and i did agree w/the hard work & too much luxury part, although, it's funny how that doesnt apply to them. makes sense though, as they're opposed to hard work for themselves, & frown upon honesty, and are entitled as a people, to the best of everything.
i just thought i'd share that, nothing shocking there, but if anyone ever feels the need to run protection for either of them on social media, just remember they'd never do the same for you. unless there's a hidden agenda behind doing so.

Why would he adopt a linguistic framing that would poison pill his entire political project and ensure he winds up dead? You people are incapable of thinking at a level above "J words bad."

He borrowed the term from software development.
The use of the word 'Cathedral' to describe top-down design predates Yarvin.
You were not aware of this, because of course you weren't.

The issue is that these bureaucracies and systems aren’t interested in being specific and human. They want to take humans out participation. Enforcement and surveillance by AI and the economy being carried out by advanced robotics/humanoid robots powered by AI.
Wendell Berry’s “What Are People For?” is going to take on a whole new paradigm.

The ruling class is obviously panic mode over this basic idea
They don’t know what to do with the people because they lost the culture

A useful discussion but remember, denial is a function of scarcity. We're all subject to it so that's your starting point. We're all in states of denial and nothing is more important to us than protecting them. Takes all our energies. And all because everybody can't have everything.

i've been talking about this a lot to my husband, and he's on board. we've have been slowly working on it & are currently ready to amp-it-up.. --we formalized (in writing) plans to be less selfish, less self-serving, to do with less, and to move extra time & resources to the younger people in our family and to our neighbors.
--i recently cleared off the refrigerator & we've made a long list of goals & action plans that are designed to live out our retirement in service of "doing" for others and a commitment to consume as little as possible.
--it is hard though. i'd never really thought about these things that much until 6 or 7 years ago. it's hard to break habits & to constantly analyze your day-to-day life.
--for the past few years, we've stopped using our HVAC & reduced our electrical usage, therefore, our utility bills have decreased a bunch.
we've greatly decreased our grocery consumption. we eat less, eat clean & have a limited diet of eating the same stuff all the time. that was kinda hard, but we've gotten in better shape, we feel better & there's a nice cost savings along with time freed up by simplifying the diet.
we're down to our last pet, we've always had a ton of pets, and we'll be getting or taking in no more.
we're talking about focusing on paying off the house so that whoever inherits it will have no mortgage.
and we're fixing up & doing repairs for the same reason.
we've been giving stuff we dont need or use away, & im preparing to start selling off our collectibles, and my large doll collection.
and we've got to do the hardest part of not spending so much time online, so we have more time to walk & visit with the neighbors (lucky they're all nice & new people with young kids have been moving in. one even has several little kids, a garden & chickens, which is awesome) and get to know them.
and have time to drive over to the family peps & see if they need any favors, any help with the kids, or any assistance with household chores.
--- i know i cannot undo anything from the past, but i hope to not die still being a self-serving person, and that i/(we) can add value to others instead of constantly consuming and wasting time.
