Something not that commonly seen on TH-cam anymore today: A proper hack! Made with simple, basic tools, and a result that appears both functional and reasonably safe. I like that you took the time to add proper belt and blade guards, something many people will skip when making such a hack. I agree that the pulleys should be made from a different material, not so much because of hardness but because the wood will warp and potentially come apart during use. Stacked up differently sized plates of sheet aluminium, screwed together and then turned to shape on the "late"/drill press could work. Or even just make them from a solid piece of aluminium, using a file and the hack-lathe method. For speed regulation a governor system similar to the ones used on cheap power generators could be used, that should be quite easy to add to the existing chainsaw motor!
Oh, and another source for pulleys: Just check your local car scrapheap! Water pumps and generators in many cars have easily removable pulleys that are simple to adapt for your use, and they should be next to free (they are usually trashed together with the broken pump/generator). Especially many older cars will use the same type of belt you are using.
awesome. those things are not cheap to buy. I always wanted one but could not justify the cost. might have to give this a shot. love the wooden pulley glad to see I am not the only one using them. have made several homemade machines and use oak for my drive pulleys. they are cheap hold up well and can be made any size
Very nicely done! Clever of you to mark the pulley with the belt for where it needs more shaping. Simple and very effective way to convert the saw to a pulley-drive, and if the clutch needs to be replaced you haven't made that hard. Nice of you to show the old rope-down-the-spark-plug-hole trick for locking the piston. The saw looks very well done, and looks like it should hold up very well to real-world use. Careful with things going helicopter in the drill press! Clamps! If you ever make it to Atlanta, GA, USA you're welcome around my shop any time!
FRIGGIN INGENIOUS!!! I love watching these guys with the mega shops.... you know??? The kind of dude that can fabricate a friggin helicopter out of beer cans over a long weekend!!! VERY COOL MAN!!!
Very cool attachment. I need to make one for myself. I'd make the concrrte version with a concrete blade on it. Those concrete saws are incredibly expensive.
This is a great job ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍👍👍👍 I have one with a 12 inch blade size. It was a Target masonry saw but the heavy motor finally comply wore out. I had a super good running Echo CS - 40 that I put the blade on. It gets used all the time.
Good job. The only problem is if you make one yourself you have to find out the disc spin speed or it could fly to pieces. Can adjust it on the sproket by making it taller(smaller).
You're great at what you do, I like how u made the wooden pulley wheels, although if you were looking at using this machine a lot, metal or nylon would be more robust. 👍
Well I have seen a lot of your hacks and most have either been way over the top (awesome and beyond my reach) or just something I wasn't needing, but this one... WOW! This has got to be the coolest. Great work
Kick ass I think it would look really cool if your blade guard resembled the rear fender off of a vintage Indian Chief motorcycle!!Great job as is though
I've been looking at still saws there bloody expensive lol... I have two chain saws and I can see me having a go at the... great job keep up the good work!
I like it. Have an old chainsaw back in the shed and just might build one. Not sure about the wooden pulleys though. I can just see some of my hill billy friends trying this... "Hold my beer." followed by "OOOPS mah leg."
Stary, naprawde dobrze sie to oglada, ogromna inspiracja!
Pozdrawiam
Michal Rimmerak That does not matter if it has guards and all other safety measures. It still is a dangerous machine to work with! That was how I meant my comment. Really.....I love this guy! Inventive and smart. Just my kind of guy.
What about using old bicycle gears and chain instead of belt and pulleys? Would they be strong enough? It would not slip and you could easily and quickly change the ratio. A full belt guard would be safer with a chain.
Bike gears and chains are pretty weak for anything over 1hp since they're sized and designed with a human powering them in mind. A #40 mechanical chain might be better sized for this, but if you're going to that bother you may as well use a belt and pulley setup. less prone to abrasive dust damaging it.

That is super! Easier to cut up stuff for repurposing, as you demonstrated! Thanks for sharing!

There could be problem that these rpms don't match together so it could be very dangerous to crushing the blade
First Madame Curie then Ulam and now you. Bravo

Loved it. The way you made the belt pulleys out of plywood discs was very cool !! You ARE the chainsaw hacker man !
Nice! Combination within of chop saw position would be wicked 😉.

AMAZING Hack! Very inspirational! Thanks for Sharing! Have A Super Week!.....Gus
Good job. looks like a real chop saw too. Bet it would struggle with the concrete and slabs as only a baby saw

great idea. with the right blade you can cut concrete!
Great video great tool to have ! God Bless You Brother, God Bless Poland 🇵🇱
That´s not safe
I like it!
Awesome, every day it is more surprising

Very cook hack! I could find use for that!
Terrifying genius. Amazing!
Im suprised that belt didnt slip....great job!
I enjoy the way you work. Congratulations.

NICE JOB ! WELL DONE ! BRAVO !
I LOVE THIS BEAST !!!!!!!
Very very good!!! Greeting from spain
The only channel I'm subscribed to that makes useful Hacks and tools :)
Awesome videos.
Would it cut 15cm concrete? Because the demonstration shows cutting steel, which can cut by a usual angle grinder i think.
But very nice idea!!
Very nice
You sir are a surgeon with the death wheel on the grinder.
Muy buen proyecto, saludos desde México.
Awesome build.
👏👍
Awesome work! You have still your chainsaw and you have a cordless angle grinder charged for ever! (Indoor use on own risk:-)
I na to czekałem 👍 kolejna porcja dobrze wykonanej roboty 👍👌
You know you did it right when even the safety cover is kinda scary looking.
Very nice idea. I hope to make more videos
Really, really nice, man. Looks like one of those big firemen's tools. :D
fantastic! I was waiting for a video like this.

WARIAT!!! Ale za to nasz polski POZYTYWNY!!! Gratulacje jak zawsze!
Ciekawa alternatywa gdy trzeba coś zrobić a brak prądu 👍. Można dać mniejszą tarcz i miała by lżej
Albo wyregulować piłę (mój błąd podczas testów) :D
great job for one more time.....
i think somehow that you need to find a lathe....after that your limit will be only the sky....
congratulations
Typostech Engineering .
Very good inventive mind my friend. Be careful with your hands, you put them threw some serious stuff....
This is awesome!! Nice work!
Not to bad for a home made heavy duty steel saw; one thing you just need it's a diamond blade
Nenad Kralj it wouldn't really work for that as concrete needs high torque and low rpm and that chainsaw has high rpm and medium torque
Yes, I know but it would be really interesting; great demonstration of engineering
i want one!!! all tools should be gas powered!! cool video
Great diy👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
hvala brat dao si mi sada dosta ideja :)
Cool beast but unless you have an old chainsaw around, the parts cost more than a new purpose manufactured tool....but cool and creative!
I could hear Pantera influence on some of the backing tracks.
very cool I think Ill try to make one.
WoW! Molto Bravo! Very Good!
Wow... so, what do you think about Stiga ?
Nice video make it extreme.
Sorry I ment made in Portland ☺️👍
very nice and dangerous. good job!

When Stiga isn't making table tennis tables, they're making...chain saws?

I think the wood wheel that holds the cutting disk shaft would get rounded at some point...
Wygląda niebezpiecznie, ale pomysł i realizacja zajebista :)

Again..... A great project! Super cool and a dangerous machine. Just the way I like it hahahaha. Keep up the good work. Always enjoying your videos!
Why dangerous? You can buy same. His saw have covers for disc and belt, so no problem.

giant sized blade - awesome! :)
Tidy job Darek
Alv este man es todo un maestrazo
good job man 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Piękna , ostra i szybka. Ziomek Konkret!
Toshibek 😎😎😎😎😎😎
Styl filmików jak w "Make it extream", warto zobaczyć jego filmy. Doganiasz go w pomysłach, maszyna 10/10. Powodzenia 😉
i wonder how long the plywood components last, wont they break in a few weeks?
You are so good on what you do man.. Keep it up :)
Nice job :)
how has it been holding up?
What about using old bicycle gears and chain instead of belt and pulleys? Would they be strong enough? It would not slip and you could easily and quickly change the ratio. A full belt guard would be safer with a chain.
Robert Mercier i think some slipping would be very good have if the disc got pinched ...
taulen yeah you're right, it will slip instead of appliying too much torque and breaking or killing some one! I tough of it after posting!
taulen yeah your right but if he finds a way to put that clutch on it should work
Bike gears and chains are pretty weak for anything over 1hp since they're sized and designed with a human powering them in mind. Maybe..prolly 10 different ways to build a utly saw..if one has the time
really cool stuff!
wow! amazing:) is the saw for sale?
Nice, super, bardzo dobrze !!!
Hi
Is it possible to make trencher saw to lay cable?
