- This week Trena repairs and refinishes an old cedar trunk. It has lifting veneer and a disintegrating drawer bottom. She finishes it in the original colour.

My favorite parts are when you strip off the old finish and show the beautiful wood underneath🥰 Another gorgeous job!
Doing what the customer wants is exactly why you have customers, I like that you can do what they want, a skill from experience. Love your work.
Thankyou
A beautiful restoration of a beloved cedar chest! Its gorgeous!! I love it, Trena, you worked your magic once again. Thank you!❤
Thank you so much!
Oh Trena, I’m so happy for you. Your father must be very very proud of the way you have carried on the family tradition. Another beautiful restoration !
Thank you so much
I love that trunk! I am so glad they picked you to work on it. You can make average furniture look amazing. You made that trunk absolutely breath taking.
Thanks so much!!
4/2/23; ..hey Trenta fabulous work on that veneer Cedar chest...don't know how you have the patients to deal with both super delicate thin veneer & also strip/neutralize, sand & refinish regular/thicker dimension surfaces. Beautiful craftsmanship! Your finished pieces look factory-new & perfect! Then their is your professional filming; lighting, staging (1/2 surface before, during & after stripping), closeups & your choice of 🎶 light & soft piano background. Total production excellence! A+👏👍✅️🍷🤗
Wow. Thankyou so much for your kind words James. Cheers!
Thanks for showing the products you use!
No problem!!
I've lost count of how many times I say "oh wow, look at THAT!" during your videos. Thank you for sharing so much of this wonderful work you do with us!
Cedar Chests are so often family heirlooms, passed down through the generations. You masterfully rescued and restored the true beauty of this trunk. She's gorgeous again! I'm certain it will be cherished for many more generations! CHEERS to you my friend! ~~Christy~~
Thankyou so much Christy!
Wow, this is so so beautiful 😍 I love it, especially the wood pattern on the front. Trena, you have done a fabulous 👌 job.
Thank you! Cheers!
I love the pattern of the wood grain on the front of this cedar chest. You’re a miracle worker.
Thankyou
What a beautiful chest it turned out to be. The colour with golden tint in it when the light shines on it, just beautiful. I love that you kept it traditional, it deserves to come back to its former glory. Thank you for sharing Trena!
Thank you very much!
Trena magic!! Wow! Just Wow!
💜
Although, I miss you explaining your technique and thought process. There were a few things in this video I would have benefited from your knowledge. 🤓😎
Very nice. I love cedar.
I like your artistic skill, we only do better what we repeatedly insist on improving. The pursuit of excellence should not be a goal, but a habit
It never ceases to amaze me the level of detail work you do. You still have the magic touch.
Thankyou
With the music you played it is so relaxing watching you work when you get to sanding, staining and straight stripping (furniture that is only) you treat like you do the more more difficult stuff which must be part of why your work is so wanted by everyone! If you were closer I have a 100 year old clock, talking to the local people I don’t have the confidence in them as seeing what you do in the series Thank you for sharing
thanks bob
Trena, You just showed me my first job when I get to Kentucky. My wife Diane inherited her mother's cedar chest and it needs a refinish. You are such a great teacher. Hope you will be continuing your You Tube Channel when you go back home to Saskatchewan! God bless you and your family Trena.
That is awesome!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. You know what you're doing and you're doing it very well.
Thanks again!
Beautifull work. Bravo.
Wow, that was a pretty refurbishment! 👍❤️🥰
Magnificent job!
Loving the inserted picture of the product you are using👍🏽
This turned out great!
Love your intro clip! Short and to the point. Perfect!
Made old truck into a lovely hope chest.
I have my grandfather's bedroom set made of that wood. it's gorgeous
I feel like I've been on a spirituality therapeutic adventure after watching and "absorbing" each and every one of your videos.
I am and have always been a very diverse craftsman, mostly wood based ... but far from exclusively. I have an insatiable need to constantly expand my knowledge , comprehension and abilities in every subject that I am drawn to. That being said, I have not "once", watched your videos without gaining something I can apply in my endeavors. Furthermore ... The music selections, the excellent camera work and quality, flawless editing and the overall cadence of the experience your video productions present is actually your signature. It qualifies as an artform. I know this is long winded, but compared to the amount of time you must invest in each video... it is easily worth me sharing my gratitude in this manner. Thanks Trena, and John's Furniture Repair !!!
Wow. Such kind words. Thankyou for sharing them with me.
Stunning!
We gonna start calling you dr.trena you brought new life to and old and tired peice of furniture. Nothing is as beautiful as bare natural wood
Outstanding piece always amaze me. Better than new❤❤❤
Beautiful as always Trena. ❤️
Thank you! 🤗
Love it when you show the names of the products you use.
Very nice. Looks like new. Beautiful design the waterfall
Beautiful cedar trunk also a wonderful violin piece at the end. Thanks
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video enjoyable to watch the the Master/Mistress performing her magic, just the thing to watch while we devour some Waffles and Maple Syrup.
I think a light coarse sanding will renew the cedar smell and further protect contents from insect damage like moths.
You’re full of magic!!!!!❤️
I find your ability to adjust colors to match the original I find that is one of your skills i the most jealous of! Thanks more good entertainment that beats watching regular TV getting educated! Thank you again! The first I do when I log on is to see if you have posted a new video. Is your new shop going to be larger my guess is after working in the shop you originally built, the new shop will be setup so it will be more efficient! Thank you for the instructions and the good entertainment appreciated by all your loyal fans! I’m waiting to be able to get a Johns Furniture Repair Tee shirt, please set something like that for your fans. It would be a great opportunity for children to get involved with. Good night! Bob
Thanks Bob. Yes the new shop will be wider but same length. Thanks again I’ll work on the t-shirt
Thanks so much for saving me ~23mins by condensing the whole video into a 40second clip at the beginning.
Lol you are welcome?
Nice work Trena.

Trenna you are amazing. I hope NO viewers upset you. I was sorry to hear you are also experiencing that.
Not at all. You do need a thick skin to be a TH-camr and I guess I have one. Lol
Amazing work! Love this! ❤❤
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Totally looking like they just bought it brand new!
Love to watch the veneer repairs. The color as well as the finish is beautiful.
Thanks 👍
Once again a great job. I don't think we have anyone here in town or the surrounding area who can do this. I admire your work and always look forward to your next video. Greetings Maria
Thank you very much!
You’re so good at this! I love watching your vids!
Have you ever done a bad job? 😂 superb transformation 👌
Another WOW! Depression era veneer never looked so showroom fresh. You have given this trunk visual strength that it never had before. Thank you so very much for sharing!
Thankyou!
Gorgeous!❤. Beautiful work!!
Thank you, Trena.
We have had this same ceder chest since I was a little tyke. I'm 74 now, and I know it's older than me.
It came out beautiful!
I like your choice of music as well.
Thank you! 😊
Great job! Your craftsmanship is stunning.
Thank you very much!
Wow,your work is incredible!
Thank you! Cheers!
Such a talent!
Gorgeous! 🇨🇦😎🇨🇦
I wish you all the luck in your move. You’re one of the best on TH-cam for doing restoration and repairs.
Very kind
Like the material placement shots :o)
Oh memories, my in-laws had a chest almost identical, even the label, but a combination lock. 50 years ago my brother-in-law stripped the top, then did no more. It’s been two toned ever since. Beautiful restoration.
Love the pattern on the front of the trunk and the original color back to life. I can’t even tell where your repairs are. Your craftsmanship is amazing!
Thanks so much!
Beautiful work it looks fantastic
I enjoy watching you work. Veneered pieces from this era all have the same issues and difficult to work the brittle veneer. You do beautiful work.
Thank you very much!
Holy mac and cheese! Fantastic. 👍
Lol thanks!
Thanks for another great video. Love watching you do all the amazing touches to make each peice shine. Love your work!❤
Thank you so much!
Hi mom!
Great work Trina 👏👏👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice trunk. My mom has an almost identical cedar chest to that one. The only difference is hers doesn't have a drawer.
I enjoy your content. I have a small refinishing business where I live, but my main career is a woodworking teaching at my local school. Great work!
That is awesome!
Another beautiful job! You waved your magic wand and turned a ugly duckling into a beautiful swan.
Gorgeous piece
Another beautiful restoration Trena! I for one am glad that the owner of this lovely chest chose to keep the finish as it was originally. My mother had a cedar chest similar to this but it was made by Lane (here in the USA) so this vlog brought back many memories. My niece is now the caretaker of the piece.
Thank you very much!
Nice job!
If I’d seen that in its original state in a shop or auction I’d have not even noticed it, let alone take it home. But now, just wow! it just shows what good sensitive restoration can do. Lovely
Magic. Beautiful.
Many thanks!
Wow! Very professional
Top notch work awesome finish.
Thankyou
Another brilliant repair! Never fails to amaze me what beautiful wood is found when old varnish is cleaned off. Why anyone would cover up something so glorious is a shame.
Excelente Trena..!!..Una Muy Linda Terminación...Saludosss...
Трена, милая Трена! Наконец-то я дождалась нового ролика!!!! Ну кто же может ещё сделать такую красоту? Только она!
Thankyou Nika!
You certainly put the wow factor in your refinishing well all your work but the refinishing is what everyone sees Awesome Trena
Beautiful❤
I LOVE it.
I’ve binge-watched your channel and have others as well. I can honestly say, you are #1 in your specialty. No one puts the care, professionalism, and love into the various pieces like you do! This beautiful chest is just the tip of the iceberg regarding your amazing abilities.
I wish you so much happiness and success as you return to your home base. With you, your mom, and dad on the team, you’re going to be a force to be reconned with!
thank you!
And don't forget Shop Dog and the Cat (sorry forgot the name) they help keep the stress level down.
Beautiful and thorough work as always. You do amazing work.
Looks amazing!
A piece like this rocks an old fashioned finish! Its a classic!
The new process of showing the product you are using is very effective.
Thank you
Very nice 👍
Lovely work
Years ago, a friend's parents were moving and had a trunk just about like this one shown here that was being tossed. I readily accepted it and knew I could restore it to like-new condition. It looked to have inlaid veneers creating interesting patterns of wood and a cedar lined inside. I applied stripper and knew almost instantly I had made a really big mistake. The intricate patterned inlay work dissolved to reveal the base coat primer for doing faux-wood grain effects. I was saddened to say the least, but it turned out to be an attractive cedar wood trunk, just without all the patterning that got me interested in the first place. Wish mine had turned out like this one of yours. Nice job.
Awe. That’s too bad. At least you still love it
Beautiful ❤️
Oh, Trenna! This one tugged at my heartstrings. One of the first things I attempted to refinish was a cedar chest, similar to this one. When I last moved, I had to throw it away as I had no room for it. I miss it so much. Thanks for the memories 💓
Wow beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
Great work as usual
Thanks again!
As usual great job
Thanks again!
Thats beautiful, I made my granddaughter a chest from pine boards and painted it with a sprayer like you use, had to cut the water-based wall paint with over 50 pct water just to get it to spray. Can't get it right. Don't have the finances for good tools.
When you have the reveal of all the work... the cedar trunk beamed with pride as if to say "Look at me... I'm glorious" another amazing restoration. I wish you were local to me as I have my father's work desk that has seen better days that I'd like to have restored, and while I'd attempt to do it myself, it wouldn't be like one of your restorations. You have all the right tools, equipment, chemicals, knowledge, etc. to do a credible job of it... and I couldn't imagine trusting it to anyone else. But I'm in the SF Bay Area and fat chance you're ever in my neck of the woods. Anyway, enough daydreaming... Fantastic job Trena as Always!!!
Thankyou Ray!
Nice job 👍
