Daniel Roth’s Playing demonstrates how Even without all the modern electronic support expression on the organ can be transcendental. I thank Pierre Francois for making this available and for being such an enabler. What an amazing collaboration of shared passion and love of musik.
plan a trip to Paris. :) Sainte-Clothilde, Saint-Denis, Chapelle Royale de Versailles, Saint-Louis-en l'île, Montmartre, Notre-Dame Cathedral and obviously, the magnificent Saint-Sulpice are in your wishlist, along with the recently achieved symphonic organ of Philharmonie de Paris. :)
That was wild! What a voice this organ has! Franck, a master composer and Roth, a master performer. I wonder what I missed during the little blackout. I appreciated showing the notions up in the corner. I like to follow along with the score while I listen.
You have to love that chit-eating grin DR flashes at the conclusion of the piece. He just loves what he does and what he plays. As much as I love Dupre's work and recordings, sometimes it feels like you just left an academic lecture instead of enjoying an amazing performance. Daniel thankfully doesn't do this at Saint-Sulpice.
I have a 3 CD set supposedly of all of Franck's organ works played on an American organ but this piece is not included. Different style from Franck's other compositions. This recording of Daniel Roth's superb musicianship playing on the magnificent Clicquot - Cavaille-Coll St. Sulpice instrument is wonderful. As he sometimes does Roth sings along with the melody line at times here. Wonder what was musically missing during the "intermission."
I like Mr Roths proffesional style of when he performs, he likes to match his peddle and keyboard interpretation of how he wants to have a sound and what he wants to hear
why does the 32 contrabombarde sound more powerful here than in some of the more recent videos of St Sulpice? Different mic, mic placement, or sound engineering? Also sounds like there is a bit more reverb in this video.
Looking for score for this beatyfull piece. Maybe somebody have pdf of this or any site where I can buy this? Thanks in advance for help in searching :)
Wonder how he got that low Bb in the Pedals since C-1 is the last pedal note on the board ...Did he snuck in a 32' bombard on the Bb for that passage ?
I do not know this piece of Franck. Is it in L'Organiste? There are registration indications, but there is an impossible low B-flat for the pedals. Where can I find it? Is an edition of it available? Please let me know.
Gregory Gyllsdorff Dear Gregory, to answer your questions. This is a separate piece composed in 1846 and published by the edition Paris: Schola Cantorum (1973). The low B-flat is possible if you have a 32' and play the pedal part an octave higher (which is the case on the video) ^^
+Gregory Gyllsdorff another possible explanation for a low Bflat is that it might have been written for an Erard pedal piano- an instrument used by Alkan (dedicatee of "Grand Piece Symphonique")whose 12 Etudes pour les pedales goes down to A below bottom C.
at 0.55 there i a very low Bb which is below the pedal compass. I wonder why Cesar Franck wrote that.. Maybe at that point the higher Bb can be played with the 32' stop. Bach has the same note in one of his pieces. It can be played on a pedal piano... It had 35 pedals right down to Ao... or on the Marshall and Ogletree organ especially built for Cameroon carpenter whc I think goes to very low G and to top A............Any way grand playing... i hope i get to play this organ for 5 minutes....
To me one of the finest recordings one may find here on TH-cam ever, it sounds like heaven
Écoutons souvent Daniel Roth magnifique organiste, titulaire à Paris et d'une grande gentillesse merci.....

I respect Daniel Roth as one of the greatest organists, and love the St. Sulpice organ. I wish I could go there once.
His is indeed one of the greatest organists. I am always so happy when he shares his talent.

Afraid I wouldn't want to leave
Not a well-known piece, but in typical Franckian style!
Thank you for this, yet another wonderful offering from M. Roth!
A measure of M Roth's consummate musicianship, that he can turn away from the console and speak to someone without missing a beat!
Mr. Roth always makes look so easy, and it is always so musical - the mark of a true master!
Composer, organist and organ, what better combination. Many thanks to Pierre-Francois for all the superb postings, long may they keep coming.

Bravo, maestro!! You make difficult look routine! And thank you, Pierre-Francois for your high quality postings. They are much appreciated.
Pierre-Francois, many thanks for yet another superb posting, favourite composer, organist and organ all brought together, just joyous. Thank you.

Again a very great performance. Fantastic recording too: very interesting with parts of the score, so it is easy to follow the playing.
A wonderful video as always. M. Dub-Attenti is smiling more and more often than in most of his videos,--nice :)
Nothing like free tuition from a great organist.
Thank you very much for these epic videos M. Dub-Attenti!
Danke !!

.... always nice to hear Daniel, a mastery of organ playing!
... and even better to *see* him playing. What a kind of mastery...
Der Großmeister und das herrliche Instrument, hervorragend. 💐❤️

Sempre bello C.Franck
Bravo à l'organiste très belle pièce d'orgue
Continué ainsi !!!

Rather lovely piece. In what circumstances was it recorded? Was it a mass, or a rehearsal? And how do you record these pieces?
I enjoyed to hear and see this for me unknown piece of Frack music. One question: why is there a black and silent episode from 6:11 to 6:17?
Just superb!
Excellent
That sound !
a wonderful piece of music! Do you know if there are cd recordings of this piece? I am not a musician, only a listener.
Maestro!

Majestly played, 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

+Paweł Opala I found it in "Pieces inedites de Cesar Franck", published in Paris in 1973. Some large libraries have it.

Fabulous ❣❣❣❣❣❣❣
Délicieux!
Excellent!
I suppose too.So when there is no notes like B o lower he plays real pedal notes without 32'?
Bonjour!
+Pierre-Francois DUB-ATTENTI
D'accord! Merci! :)
Merci! :)
Richard Marcoux My pleasure! Enjoy playing this marvelous piece :)
Thank you! ;)

Hi, please do you have free scores in PDF from this pieces? Please do you send me it?...Please thank you
thanks to marco golin : www.free-scores.com/PDF/franck-cesar-pia-bemol-the-organ-composition-89195-883.pdf
splendid
one question:Is the whole pedal part played an octave higher or just some sections?merci
+Laura Marcolini Hi, I think it is only for the part where you need the B (with 32'). I will check )
+Laura Marcolini Seems so a Franck has written the parts where you need the 32 foot reed an octave lower to symbolize that you need it there.
Is there a VST for Ableton of this organ?
Hi i'm looking for this score ,need help please :)
