I have a recording of this particular work by Pierre Cochereau, released on the Omega label in the late 1950s. Therein, Cochereau takes a somewhat more bombastic approach to the piece. But the relatively more subtle execution in the early moments here still serves the purpose. Job well done!
Superb performance - - - on the Gonzalez masterpiece (and a favorite instrument of M&M Durufle) and unfortunately, destroyed when a nor'easter blew through the rose window over the west gallery.
