Parents sometimes have to adjust to their children being trans or gay, and sometimes it may be the other way round. It's best to adjust rather than it turning nasty. By accepting the situation, you prevent alienation, which has to be the worst of the 2 outcomes. The son could call his dad Marie. That's easy enough. Best not to be a bigot.
