At first this scene made no goddamn sense, but after finding out about Sayo it's brilliant.

@@DarthMishi Sayo is Beatrice, Shannon, and also Kanon, thats why you never see shannon looking at kanon corpse vice versa, except for the second game where in the locked room Shannon faked her death and then become Kanon and faked her death. This test is internal battle inside Sayo's head about whom to love (George, Jessica, or Battler)

I find it always spooky I knew Shannon = Kanon as soon as the second VN dropped way back in the day. Then there was a little suspicion given Shannon's One winged eagle tattoo on her leg and Beatrice's dress.

I just noticed that the first two letters of Kanon and Shannon's real name spells "Sayo". But Shannon's name is Sayo as well, so I'm unsure if it was intended or coincidence.
If you rearrange Kanon's real name too you also get "Sayo" with 3 extra letters
Kannon’s real name is Yasu and Shannon’s is Sayo.
Sayo’s full name is Sayo Yasuda.
Shannon and Kannon are each given a piece of Sayo’s real name because they are a piece of Sayo, but not whole.

If you haven't read the full thing, I hihgly advice you not to read the comments... If you have, then the chapter 8 in the manga is basically the autor giving us a lot of hints... way more than in the game.
