This is actually one of the best scenes in Umineko, sure it's dumb and silly, but it sets up Erika's entire personality and character in a single interaction. She is a pretentious, spiteful, haughty, and malicious person who takes pleasure in bullying people.
Most of the time, Erika doesn't say what she believes to be true but rather what suits her. That was the point of Ep. 5 where Natsuhi was framed. She understands the rules of the game and plays by them to achieve what she wants to achieve.

That is true. Every single character in Umineko is absurdly well written. But Erika Furudo has a special place in my heart. That scene with her putting her ring on Battler's finger...
I don't really understand how people are confused by this. It's mainly just an overexagarration of the actual event of Erika breaking down Maria's argument. It's no different from most of the magic scenes in Umineko.
It's an overexaggeration but that's not all. All that magic fight occurs in metaverse, another dimension, where everything is much slower than in 3rd dimension. Their deepest emotions and feelings are represented like that.
As much as I was like "fuck magic I want the logical explanation, I don't care about the magical stuff and Maria pisses me off so much" during the first games, this scene really changed my point of view. It was just so cruel to use that much energy into break a CHILD's dream and coping mechanism, it was painful to watch.
This was because in the beginning there were people's lives at stake, with the concept of magic feeling like the mockery of the murderer. As deaths started to lose their impact due to the repetitions, which hinted at something bigger going on, and the fact the culprit was making more evident her suicidal wish to be stopped, the blue-haired gremlin appears to say "I don't give a damn about you people dying, that's only the scenario through which I can show everyone how smart I am".
This scene just proves how important of a piece Erika is on the chessboard for the player. Scenes like this helped tie the entire lesson of the story. Umineko is a masterpiece.

Welp, there’s two solutions to this predicament. 1. It’s a standard Death Note battle of “Intrepid Detective vs Supernatural Mastermind”, where Erika takes the role of Lind L. Tailor in order to outsmart Kira and discover his identity without being found out and murdered by Light herself. 2. Light becomes the “Sorceror of Death” and has to prove in the game board that he could use the death note to kill his victims. Not only can Erika take advantage of Red & Blue Truths and Detective’s Authority to bend the truth as far as she can (like she did to accuse Natsuhi), she can even abuse the notion of the Death Note’s ironclad rules and methods of murder in a way that allows her to extrapolate any one possible solution to one supposed death note victim as proof that it never existed at all, forcing Light to be VERY careful with his Sorceror’s Illusion
Putting the quirrel aside, why would you think diplomatic immunity was used? In the meta-perspective, it could only mean Erika was more than an outsider.
