  • It's time to reassemble the engine cases on the Suzuki Vinson Project. Never use RTV Silicone gasket maker when resealing engine case halves! Use the right engine sealant once or else you'll have MAJOR oil leaks in the future. RTV Silicone has its uses, but this isn't it. PARTS USED ↓↓↓↓

    Great pointers and info regarding the separation of crank case.
    Presented with knowledge. Now I believe I will be confident enough to break apart my quad 500 that at I got for cheap.

    If you are going to split any more cases it makes sense to get a case splitting tool Makes easy work of this and safer for the internals... they are like $60 for decent set.
    And the work on lots of different small engine cases.

      I will look into one of those, for next time. Thanks!

    So I pulled my entire 02 vinson apart and put it back together I'm now stuck because I have an extra 8x120 bolt from the crankcase that I can't find where it goes. I think it's a 01547-0675B but none of the parts diagrams advertise a length. Also think it's an interior bolt.

    • @MattsShop
      @MattsShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are no bolts that long inside the crankcase. It's probably the bolt at 12:57.

    What did you torque the bolts to when you reassembled the crankcase? It doesn’t say in manual for some reason. Thanks!

    Have you used the Right Stuff ?
    It’s what I used on Honda 630 cly heads

    • @MattsShop
      @MattsShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't use Right Stuff. I normally use this, Permatex Red, or Permatex Aviation Gasket Maker.

    Hi Matt! Im fixing my suzuki vinson too, but the problem i have is that when a put parking the quad still rolls and it makes a knocking noise and when a put drive on High, low or reverse it doesnt move, like its something stuck, any suggestions? I will appreciate any help, Thanks!

      Check the shiftier box and the linkages to the rear differential. There is a little dot on the lever and a dot on the shaft where it slides on the diff. Make sure they are lined up. Check all the shifter cables and make sure everything fully shifts all the way. It's probably out of adjustment.

      Matt's Shop Thanks! I will do that, because yesterday on the night a had to move it so i tried to start it on and the shifts work well (strange) except for the parking shift who stills let the quad roll and doin the knocking noise and i descover that the carburator is leaking gas throught the air entrance and it make an hidraulic lock on the cylinder and i had to remove the spark plug to drain the cylinder.
      Its a pandora box....

    Hey Matt, where do you buy your parts? I have an arctic cat 500 2004 FIS.
    Roger engine I believe. Hard to get parts reasonable priced up here in the Yukon.
    I need valves, rockers, cam, piston and rings. Dropped the valve, didn't pop the piston, cylinder walls are great. Rockers are wore out and cam lobes are flat putting new guides, and upper rebuild under way.

      @MattsShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get my parts from Partzilla.com The prices are the best, but I don't know if they ship to the Yukon. It sounds like you got off easy not having a damaged cylinder.

      @@MattsShop yeah, not bad at all. I found a rebuilt head for $500, think I will go that way, needs guides and rockers.
      New piston and rings, and a cam. Looking at about $1000 in parts.
      Rest of machine is in excellent shape. Bought it for $400. So into it for about $1500 and my time.
      If I flip it should do good, may keep it.
      Thanks for the quick response.
      Regards
      Garnet

    I used black high heat permatex on my case.. What's wrong with using permatex.. I kinda don't wanna split my case again anytime soon because it will take me like 3 days from ripping it out the atv to putting it back

    • @MattsShop
      @MattsShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just leave it. I'm sure it will be fine. Just remember these products for future rebuilds!
