That’s awesome! I just have to ask, with you loving the original toys back in the 80s, how’s the current crop in your estimates? I mean, especially with stuff like SS86 trying to make the most screen accurate CHUG stuff ever.
21:41 couldn’t agree more! To any young or new collectors, set your own goals and don’t try and take on someone else’s because you won’t feel as fulfilled when you do that. And set realistic goals too such as a few characters that you’d like to track down. It’s easy to forget that we don’t need everything right now and we can wait to find them someday
This is something I'm really struggling with. On one hand Beast Wars is one of my all-time favorite shows (and my favorite Transformers show), and I'm in a position where I can collect the entire cast of the show. But when I think about it, I really don't want to collect all of them. I loved the show, but I don't want to turn that love into a checklist, that takes the fun out of it. I'll stick to my favorite characters, I don't need to be thorough
I totally agree. There’s a lot of characters I love that I know I wouldn’t like the toys of. Thinking Beast Wars, I love Dinobot, Tarantulas, and Blackarachnia, but aside from Transmetal Tarantuls, there’s not an OG BW version of any of those guys I’d want.

Way past Christmas at this point, but Merry Christmas anyway! Right off the bat, my favourite video you’ve put out so far. These all sound like common sense, but as you yourself pointed out, it’s easy to drown down in the deep end. … ok, that was a bit darker than I intended, but impulses can be hard to control and all that. I love me a rule of three, and since I’ve started my current collection end of last year, it settled on: 1. Budgeting above all 2. Brand new only 3. One toy per character (exceptions may apply) Has this limited my options? Oh, yes. Has this made me carefully consider every purchase? You bet. Do I absolutely love every single of my transformers? Absolutely (even if I complain about some).
I’m sorry, dude! I looked at it late last night, I must have forgot to post a reply. I think it looks sick! That’s one of my favorite moulds for Movie Optimus, and I love how you gave Magnus cracks in his windshield. The entire toy looks awesome!
Thank you for making this video! I was about to pre order gamer edition skywarp even though I already have the thrilling 30, this convinced me not to. Enjoyed all of the tips!
This is gold! 10. Jumping in too soon is the story of my life with collecting, I often think of myself as the Nostalgia tourist very glad modern Transformers (and Silverhawks) actually work for me. Urges and FOMO are a massive problem for me, now if I WANT WANT WANT something that's already been released I put it on my list for minimum 2 weeks, watch reviews etc before I start looking for it, so many times at the end of the 2 weeks I no longer have the same urge. New replacement figures are easy for me to trip up on as some older figures seem gold to me e.g. Universe Hound while the new 5 pack one didn't do anything for me. 4. Is some great advice. 3. Ouch yes and I know once money is spent it's spent but when parting with stuff and realising the money burnt can make you feel ashamed. I wish I had all this advice before I tried collecting custom Lightsabers! Have a magnificent Christmas
10) That’s part of the journey though, enjoying the tour! The only issue is, you can’t go on every single tour on offer, so sometimes you have to pick your spots. If I could get over FOMO completely, I’d be golden. My issue is that I’ll se a toy I wasn’t interested in at the store, and then buy it just because it’s there. It’s a bad habit I’m actively working to break. 3) I know that feeling. In some ways, it almost feels like you betrayed someone’s trust, but that really is just a part of changing and growing. It can be especially hard, as you say, when you realize the time and money you put into something, but forcing it on to yourself will just make you miserable in the end. And finally, a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays your way! I’m always glad to here from you, man, and I hope you and yours are enjoying the holiday!

@ronbondujon9690 Not at all! Even though I've been collecting transformers for decades, everything you said is 100% TRUE! For new collectors is a great tipping of point, and for more seasoned collectors, it's a great reminder that you don't need EVERYTHING!

Recently got into collecting now that I have an actual income, but really agree with everything you have to say. 8. Absolutely. The figure that got me back into collecting is a Siege Prime I got in the swap meet for $15. Even if he's not as "good" as the later versions, he'll still have a spot in my shelf for that reason. Similarly, people are really divided on WFC Megatron, but I still think he's great regardless. 5. But of a mixed bag. I bought a Trigger-happy without 1 gun and Headmaster, but I ended up enjoying him so much I bought another complete copy since I couldn't find those bits. Still, one can say maybe I wouldn't have gotten him at all if I didn't realize how fun he was from the initial purchase. I was able to snag a Beast Hunters prime though without weapons, which is perfect for me since none of his weapons were shown accurate to begin with. 2. I collected pretty expensive figures for Shin Godzilla and Arsene from Persona 5. Only watched a few Godzilla movies, and never played P5. Admittedly part of me feels weird because of that, but at the end of the day, they are incredible beautiful designs that I look forward to opening them up and displaying them when I get the room.
8) That’s the thing: I don’t think that this Optimus is better or worse, it’s all about it it’s the Optimus for you, and it sounds like it certainly is! 5) That’s incredibly fair! If it makes you happy, that’s all that matters!
