Dude, I was 14 when I saw ALIENS on opening night in a packed theater. When Ripley came out in the power loader at the end, the audience lost its fucking mind! Still one of the best movie-going experiences of my life.
WHAT?! You're into movie props and you've never watched James Cameron's ALIENS? The M41A Pulse Rifle and M56 Smartgun are the holy grails of cool sci-fi movie props! Glad you finally watched it. 👍
Aliens is the greatest sci-fi film ever made as far as I'm concerned. It has everything. Aliens is fun, exciting, scary, dramatic and epic. But the characters feel far more fleshed out and essential to the overall story than the characters in Alien. Its a shame that Sigourney Weaver didnt win Best Actress. James Camerons Ripley is one of greatest, strongest, most iconic female role in history. She's right up there with Scarlett O'Hara in GWTW and Sarah Connor in T2. Everyone gushes over the suspense and look of Alien. But suspense only lasts so long. If we went through the haunted house a 2nd or 3rd time, we know whats coming. The mystery and suspense become lost. Everyone wants to get back on the rollercoaster. If the rollercoaster is designed properly, it can be thrilling and scary again and again. Thats what Aliens is.
I always remember in the late 80’s early 90’s someone writing “this time it’s war” on a concrete underpass I used to walk through and even though the graffiti as been gone for years I nearly always think about when I go past where it was.
The hype train was insane I remember the opening night being dark and rainy for aliens!! So hyped so excited had a few beer at my friends place than went to see the 10pm show! One of the best nights in the cinema ever!!!
I personally like Aliens a bit more because I like how Newt's spirited personilty is on par with Ripley's and in a way lends itself to Ripley treating Newt like the daughter she had. And the last act where Ripley gets in the mech-loader suit to spar with the queen is still my all time favorite moment of any action movie.
I was 14 when Aliens came out but unfortunately didn’t catch it in theaters. But you know I what I watched in the cinema when it first came out, and I went complexly blind not knowing anything? PREDATOR! I just never looked at Gatorade commercials the same since that movie!
Aliens, T2, The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back, and Top Gun: Maverick are all sequels that I consider superior to the original films. I was young when the first two Alien movies were released(4 and 11) and have never seen them in theaters. Both films scared me on first watches to the point I did not finish them at 11 or 12 years old.
Gosh I was 13 when Aliens came out. I remembered it was very different from the first but never jarring. I’m like “it’s about time they have guns to dispatch of these mfkers!” And yeah these guns delivered. The colonial marines gear was so cool and inspiring. The noise of those guns! My friend and I was talking about how cool it would be if Capcom makes an Alien action game in the same top down scroller format like Commando.
My #1 in the Series and probably the greatest SciFi-Action-Movie. Sigourney Weaver's Ripley has become my fav female Movie-Character ever. Loved her in Alien already, but James Cameron has envolved her on another Level. R.i.P. Bill Paxton, who ruled as Hudson in this.
Saw a re-release of Aliens with a packed theater in Hollywood and it was by far the most insane experience I’ve ever had in a theater. If there was ever a film that needs to be seen with a highly reactive crowd, it’s Aliens 👍🏻
I saw the movie when I was 13 in the cinema with my mum as due to the rating she had to be present. When that loader door came up with Ripley in the loader at the end, the whole crowd cheered, clapped and a lot stood up. I’d never seen anything like it in my life, mum loved it too. Been my favourite film of all time ever since. Nothing will top it.
I like both equally, but Alien was a revolutionary movie in many ways. Both are great movies in my opinion, but very different. Alien got that nastiness about the alien that the second movie doesn't. That slow moving, parting of lips and shaking before extending the inner mouth is disturbing, together with the sound. What I really like about it is how hard it is to make out the alien in the beginning. Especially the cat scene, it's hard to figure out how it actually looks. Seeing it now, knowing how an alien looks makes it different, but when I saw it initially eons ago, I had no idea how the alien looked, so the confusing backlit filming made it seem much scarier. The head is translucent and not black; the way it is filmed makes it look strange and yes, alien and confusing.
I'd say watch it still. ( Yes it's heartbreaking when you're a aliens fan ) But for what it is it still a good film in my opinion worth checking out either way. I'd more say skip resurrection as that's shockingly bad
Alien by far is the superior movie... Aliens changed so much, not just the tone, but also the type of movie, in a lot of ways it became generic... Cameron's best movie in the scifi genre is the first Terminator. After that, he went down hill for sci-fi. Not that he didn't innovate the technologies and techniques used in his films. That got way better. Even the lauded T2 was not as good as the first, in terms of story, themes, and its visceral nature.
I've always thought that Paul Reiser's slimey performance of Burke was very underated. Perfect casting.
masterpiece

James cameron is the king of sequels done right
Definitely don't sleep on Alien 3. It gets a bad rap, but it definitely is worth the watch.

Don’t forget Bill Paxton and Lance Henrikson both in the first Terminator.
And also Vasquez was in T 2. Same woman.
@@esschuele6336 Also Titanic.

I love this film. Probably more than the first but only just a bit more. Both are epic

If you want to deep dive on Aliens, seek out the Aliens Expanded documentary.

I love Aliens, but of course, that was the movie i saw as a kid. i didn't see the first one till it was re-released in theaters years later.
Chris watching these for the first times makes me giggle, it's ao much fun seeing new people discover these epic movies

I came to look at your amazing Mohawk Gremlin in the background and stayed to hear your thoughts on one of the best movies.
What a great sequel! And it’s like you said, it’s so cool that the first two films stand apart from one another
I’m surprised you have never seen these films. They are great. Aliens is one of my favorite movies.

I prefer the first one too. I felt more immersed in the world. Aliens is great too that being said, for having such a strong individual identity

Make sure you check out Lance Henrikson in Near Dark, another one of his great performances.
7:58 "I'm looking very forward to that" lol

For me it's Aliens it's my all time favourite movie and in my opinion a flawless movie. But I fully understand why people would pick Alien.

With Bishop I find his personality more of a child. Not in an immature bratty way, but the innocence and almost naive traits.
Glad you got to see them both Chris, albeit a little late.
Fun fact Lance Henriksen was illiterate until around 30yrs old when he started acting.
3:47 … … please don’t do that 😂
Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) played the step mom in Terminator 2
It would have been nice for both these films to be reaction video, but great reviews anyway.
Alien: Ressurection has its charms. It’s somewhat arty.
...only Chris would think about peeing while watching this masterpiece. REEE
Is there a 4k Dolby Vision/Atmos version?
Man, I'm curious on what you'll think of Alien 3, because I had the same giddy feeling as you when I first watched Alien and Aliens
Bruv I love your videos ❤
Now you can join the greatest debate in the history of the franchise. Alien or Aliens? Fighting amongst the group welcomed.
I'm hoping you got to watch the special edition.
See Chris????? NOW YOU GET THE FUCKIN HYPE MATE????
2:57 It's true. Ripley was well written and smart female protagonist. Not like these days when every female hero feels forced and unwatchable.
Would you get on the other Alien movies?
It’s got a completely different vibe from the first…more of an action movie and less horror.
Sorry bro!!! I watch your channel and there’s no way you haven’t watched alien or aliens lol
But let the newbie’s have fun with it
Has Chris seen Alien 3? If not do yourself a favor and DON'T watch it! It'll just break your damned heart! To each his own though!
I 100% agree on this
I'd say watch it still. ( Yes it's heartbreaking when you're a aliens fan ) But for what it is it still a good film in my opinion worth checking out either way. I'd more say skip resurrection as that's shockingly bad

James Cameron used to be a crazy genius back then, so sad he's just into Avatar and some woke shit.
