For me this is the greatest race in the history of track and field. The context of Harris having ended Moses' unbeaten streak earlier in the season. Incredible finish by Moses to hold off Harris and Schmid. All 3 cross the line within 0.02 of a second.
Ok, I'm back to admit that the men's 400m hurdles final in Tokyo might have eclipsed this. When the bronze medalist finishes out of picture and yet becomes the third fastest of all time, you've witnessed something truly special.
No, I think you were right first time. The 'special' part of Tokyo 2021 was provided by shoe and track technology, just as for the women's 400m hurdles. In Rome 1987 we saw a great race. That is more important than great times.
I remember an interview with Daley Thompson prior to these championships where he was asked about the 400m hurdles and he said "I think this is going to be the closest shave Edwin has ever had!" How right he was!
Meet Harald Schmidt 32 years ago. Very polite Nice sportsman.

Eines der besten Rennen aller Zeiten!
This trio of Moses, Harris and Schmid are the past legends and now we have a new era with a trio of Samba, Warholm and Benjamin.
