I was surprised when I went to my local authorized Blackvue garage to check my set up that they had a new version. My car has a Blackvue DR900X Plus 2-ch and Blackvue B124x battery (which was given to me 2yrs ago by Toyota Insurance under a claim) . The battery was diagnosed as faulty which is why my dash cam wasn't turning on, or it was turning on and off while driving. I have it hardwired. Blackvue New Zealand un-installed the said their latest battery B130X something is NZ$600 or their latest 2-CH dash cam featured in this video costs NZ$1300 incl installation. The footage looks a lot cleaner. I wish for parking mode they allowed for continuous normal speed recording this is something the DR900 2-CH had. I might upgrade next year when Ive saved up.
Disappointing this review seems more like an infomercial. No negatives brought up that other reviewers and owners have come across and even shown in your own sample video. Out of focus image in portions of the image, grainy image compared to the DR970X, lack of HDR making license plate at night reading poor in comparison to the Viofo 229 Pro. I understand you sell these models (as well as other brands) and as a Blackvue owner myself with my 900X-2CH I will be picking up the 970X Plus LTE model myself, even with the issues it has and hope some of them get ironed out as I enjoy the indepth Cloud functionality Blackvue provides. But it does nothing to push Blackvue to fix issues if everything is all sunshine and rainbows IMO.
I currently have the DR900x too, but I have a negative about the 770x box which is making me hold tight before purchasing the 970x Box Plus. I recently bought the 770x box. However, I returned it because I didn't like a weird staticky noise that would be present during daylight hours while remotely viewing the camera or watching a video recorded in parking mode. Other people have had this same issue too. I also hit up the live feature in the Blackvue app and viewed other people's 770x box cameras from around the world and could hear the same noise. It's weird though because you only really hear it during daylight hours. Very annoying though and not something you want to hear from a high dollar camera. I like the form factor of the box units, but I think I'm going to wait and see if I see any 970x Plus units show up in the live part of the Blackvue app in the next couple of months. If I notice the same noise from other people's cameras, I may stay clear of that one too.
@@shalamigri Thanks Seanl, this will be my first and agree with Spizzy when he stated the plus seems in some areas not great on the video. Also, spoke with BlackVue technical/Customer support in Korea. He didn't know much about any of the products especially the Plus; stated I have to look these things up when you ask a question. He also stated he had been working there for 3 years. I felt he might have been the only one answering the phone, very disappointing. I called back no one would pick up.
I called Korea also and every time I asked a question it to him quite a while to answer the question. I also asked him how long he had been working there can’t remember exactly and he said years. He got upset with me for asking him and will no longer take my phone call using my number. Thanks for your reply.
I cannot comprehend why BlackVue gave up on HDR in these new Plus models. Using Starvis2 IMX678 sensor and *not* implementing HDR is somewhat like putting an electronic speed limit at 80mph in a Ferrari. C'mon BlackVue!
Welcome back Joseph. The box unti in my opinion is the best dashcam cam layout wish more companies would have that as a option. Wish you you guys would've talked about features being removed like only being able connect one hotspot option like before, the many audio choices compared to their older versions typically blackvue one step forward two steps back

Thank you for the feedback, happy to be back. Vortex Radar's review was also quite informative on these subjects, check out his video here: th-cam.com/video/j_icwdNvRfc/w-d-xo.html
Good question, it took us some time to test this out. After testing, I can confirm that unfortunately the cameras are the front cameras are not cross-compatible between Box units.
I installed the DR970 Plus in my RAV4. I upgraded from a 900X Plus. The upgrade was easy, all previous mounts and wires work. The one thing that did not work is using the DR970X Plus as a hotspot for a second dashcam. I could not get the second cam to connect. Vortex said a future firmware update will enable this feature. I hope it comes soon.
Great content. Many thanks! I need system that allows surveillance while the truck is parked. As well as cloud storage. I like the BlackVue 970X LTE PLus but was unsure if it records while the truck is off. Should I run an external battery? Or go with another brand? HDR is a must for license plate recognition. I need to see license plates and IR during night if someone wants to vandalize my vehicle while I am sleep or parked extended. Thank you for your time and recommendation. Both are tremendously appreciated!
Hi there! For your needs, the BlackVue DR970X Plus is a strong choice, as it offers features like HDR for improved license plate recognition and cloud connectivity for remote access to your footage. If you decide to go with the BlackVue DR970X Plus, pairing it with a dedicated battery pack will give you the surveillance and reliability you're looking for. If you have more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out!
I'd like to know how these cameras will work if they're plugged into the car OBD port via the blackVue adapter . The reason why I asked this question as I have a lease car for three years and I'm not allowed to hardwire a camera . i have a hybrid car ( engine and electric ) I would like to use parking mode so therefore the OBD port would be always on power but as you know it has no ignition of cable . does these cameras have the intelligence to know the car has been parked up after either a voltage drop or it's not moving after a certain amount of time ... any feedback you can give me would be much appreciated or any videos link you have .. thanks
Hi there. BlackVue does not currently offer an OBD cable, as their OBD cable that was available many years ago was discontinued, and only worked with older models. The camera is smart enough to detect voltage and cut-off accordingly, however I would not trust this information to be provided to the camera if using a third party cable. BlackVue cameras go into parking mode in 2 different ways, either by the ignition connection to the vehicle turning off, or no movement of the vehicle being detected for ~5 minutes.
@@blackboxmycar thanks for your reply that's really strange, here in the UK BlackVue still recommend OBD cable ( a new version) which has a switch on it. Which is an apparently compatible with modern cars and the series x camers . are you saying that this is not true !!

Hi there! Great question! You're looking at three very capable dash cams, each with its own strengths. While I can't directly recommend one over the others, I can highlight some key differences to help you make an informed decision: *BlackVue DR970X Plus:* Known for excellent build quality and reliability Cloud connectivity features Strong parking mode capabilities 4K front camera, Full HD rear and interior *VIOFO A229 Pro 3CH:* Offers great value for money 4K front camera, 2K rear, and Full HD interior Known for good image quality, especially in low light Dual-band Wi-Fi for faster file transfers *Vantrue N5:* 4K front camera, 1440p rear camera Super capacitor instead of a battery for better heat resistance 24-hour parking mode Built-in GPS All three offer 3-channel recording, which is great for comprehensive coverage. The BlackVue tends to be pricier but offers cloud features, while the VIOFO often provides great value. The Vantrue sits somewhere in between. For the most up-to-date comparison and to determine which features align best with your needs, I'd recommend checking our website or reaching out to our support team at info@blackboxmycar.com. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific requirements, budget, and usage scenarios. Remember, the best dash cam for you depends on your individual needs and preferences!
You'd likely be looking for 2 separate main cameras, that are wired independently. A great reference for what that would look like can be found on Vortex Radar's Channel, here: th-cam.com/video/gSFxqHrF2Ro/w-d-xo.html

BlackVue has never offered 3-channel versions of their 4k models unfortunately, I suspect it's due to the high heat caused by the taxing and high quality 4k recording.

*Vantrue N5:*

Can the front camera be rotated as most of of the dash cams?
The front camera can be rotated vertically 360 degrees. It cannot be rotated side to side.
So, the newest 4K LTE can't have a CPF on it?
The newest versions cannot have a CPL filter unfortunately.
I just ordered a filter for my 970x LTE Plus on eBay so they're out there now but quite expensive, it was $50.
