Same! I remember when we adopted our new kitten, his name was a gen zish name so it’s hard to type but I’ll just use his old name, Finn. We had to get him neutered or home would be full of cat pee, he’s very playful and loved hiding, and we had to distance him from our elder cats, Simba and Cookie since they aren’t great with newer cats. Since we’ve gotten a lot of them that we had to give away over the years, Finn was also very underweight he was the runt of the litter, you could feel his bones. We joked he was a alien, also we found out why he was so skinny. His litter mates knew he was annoying so they trapped him! And he is very (but in a cute way sometimes) He doesn’t know how to pee so he’ll just lay inside the litter box and spread it all over the carpets, he playfully attacks are SIX YEAR OLD CATS who are too tired to play anymore (besides string) Even though when he first got introduced to our cats, Cookie, the only female, ran away from him and proceeded to hide and swat him if he comes near. So our male, Simba (he’s also litter mates with Cookie) stepped up to be his mother, we call him *Mama Tiomb* Since he’d always groom him, and when Finn tried to fight him, he’d do the dominant cat thingy, since, I do remember when Finn tried to do it to Cookie. We’ve considered getting rid of him but we love him, it’s great to have his energy around the house, and I’m one of his favourites. He gives me his toys to throw back, puts his favourite toy in my bed, and once I woke up to him in my arms *It was so adorable I loved every moment of it*
@João 1 of my neighbours moved & just left her cat behind & it was very cold,raining at the time so I let her in to mine to get warm,intended to find her a new home as I already had 4 cats,7 years later she is still with me 😊

Unfortunately it's very common where I live,they either move & leave them behind or once they get beyond the little kitten stage they lose interest & chuck them out. When my mother died I eventually gave her cat to a friend, because I couldn't keep three in apartment. Friend's boyfriend wasn't a "cat person". Now, boyfriend has a tattoo of the cat on his chest.
I was never really a big cat person until my husband surprised me one day with this little feisty kitten that needed a home. She was found on a soccer field in the rain all alone and needed help. We already had a cat (his before we met)..so i was like "no..we can't keep her", "how could you not ask me first?",yada yada. Fast forward 8 yrs later...she is the light of my life, my best bud and we share a bond that I wouldn't trade for anything.
Exactly the same amount of cat, dog and human babies for me too. I've had animals all my life mostly cats, but also birds, hamsters, goldfish, tortoises, you name it and my kids were, and like me, still are mad about animals. But we all are more cat people, I'm in my seventies now living alone except for MY fur baby who I couldn't live without, she's my precious little girl. I think Kit's mum will now always have a cat in her life too.
People declare they "are not a cat person" until they actually have one. These enchanting creatures have the power to make us crave more. So many new cat people popping up everyday. I love cats.
So right! People who "don't like cats" have never known one. Because cats are literally, to know them is to love them! They ARE enchanting little creatures with awesome powers of love and bonding.........to each other and to the most fortunate of humans! I will always be grateful for the bonds of love that my husband and I have shared with our beloved cats (and dogs)!

Same goes for anything really. People are quick to say they dislike something before actually trying it out. That's a really bad trait most people have. Fortunately, that can be easily turned around when they actually do try things they "dislike".

The same thing happened to me - found a baby in the woods, nursed him to health, fell in love, and we lived happily ever after until he became old and passed away. I've never been so heartbroken. The best relationship of my life - not kidding.

I love that this woman was "not a cat person" but still decided to keep and hand feed this baby by bottle every 2 hours around the clock until she was weaned, just right off the bat! LOL!!! Sooo many would have just dropped her off at a shelter, or worse. So grateful that this precious, tiny girl found her way to a kind and caring Mommy!
We hand-raised raised an abandoned litter of 3 two and a half week old kittens..it was like having babies, 2 hourly feeds around the clock, weighing them before and after each feed to make sure that they had taken in enough milk, helping them poop and pee, but we are cat people, so once they reached 9 weeks, my daughter’s and I kept one each..I have a gorgeous grey boy who has just turned two. In Australia tho, if you take such tiny, labour intensive babies to a vet or shelter they are likely to be put down, so hand-raising them to between 9-12 weeks, when they would normally be able to be separated from their mother and rehoused is the only option if you don’t want the kitties to be put down. A shelter or vet will take them from 9 weeks on.
I was never a cat person. My Bruno changed that. He was one of the greatest loves of my life. Unfortunately, he got let out over night while I was out of town. And we never found him. I cried for weeks. Sadly. I still cry 5 years later. I loved him more than I've ever loved any animal in the world. I just hope that wherever he is. He's healthy and happy
@Honey. Either he died, which is something one has to accept as hard as that may be, or he was found by another family who loves him. My little calico died a few months ago and the boy cat and I are still grieving but I tell myself that I gave her a good life, and she brought me so much joy. Life can be really rough at times, my heart goes out to you. 💕
My cat lived with my mom's when I was away for school, and he was a street cat from the go, so he liked the great outdoors, so my mom let him wander around. No fault of hers, but on one of his trips he ate something bad, and got real sick real fast. I was at mom's for the weekend, and he was just sick. Saw life slipping out of him. I have never cried and will never cry as hard as I did the night when he collapsed in his litterbox and I was laying on the kitchen floor trying to console him, until mom took him to my grandpa's farm to end the pain. This was like 16 years ago, and just thinking about it will never not bring me to tears. That fucking cat was my lifeblood. Rest in peace, Niilo. One of these days I'll get over it and adopt another stray, and give 'em the best fucking life they could ever have, and that'll be in your honor.

Myself never been a cat person, My all dogs passed away and a friend forced me to adopt her 5yo cat since she was moving to Saudi I adopted the cat without knowing what to do, At 1st he hissed at me,sometimes attacked me when I tried petting him but slowly we bonded and now he sleeps with me,follows me around,kissed me n fights with me only when I bath him. I can proudly say that I'm a cat person now
I know as a dog person, you are probably used to bathing your pets. But unless your cat gets super sticky-dirty or can't bathe himself for medical reasons like arthritis, bathing isn't really necessary. Cats are fastidious animals. Brushing is about the only bathing they usually need.
@@cmowery72 True the only time I bathe my cat is when they got poop stuck to their butts (my cat has long hair so that happens sometimes). But that happens only 1-2 times a year.

My mum wasn’t ever a cat person until my brother found a kitten on the road walking around, he brought him in just for us to stroke it, and when we came in the morning he was still there waiting for us, so we kept him, and he has such a sweet personality, he never breaks his rules, and you never hear him meow, he only purrs 🥰😍
This is one of my favorite cat videos . I never get tired of watching it. Even though Jodie was not a cat perso she was still kind and compassionate enough to take in a helpless, defenseless kitten,temporarily. Watching her become a cat person and falling inl love with “the kitten / the kit / Kit” and end up keeping her was truly heartwarming . If and when Jodie ever decides to have a human child then chances are she will be a wonderful mother. But it will be somewhat tougher and more difficult and complex than raising Kit. Yet I’m quite sure tha Jodie will be a super great mother.
I'm proof of that. I got my boyfriend 2 kittens, because he wanted them (from a woman in a supemarket parking lot, no less) I was not really thrilled, but he wanted them and we had the space. We didn't know it, but one was male and one female. They had awesome babies. The happiest moments of my life were with these kitties. There was even a grandbaby from this family. She passed away in December 2019. This little sweetie was all mine. the light of my life. And I hated cats ;-)
It's rare that the hooman is just as cute as the fur baby but this gal is a doll! Love her fantastic sense of humor and her beaming smile!! These two are the very cutest of their species! They are both "simply irresistible" and are a match made in Heaven!

It's actually scientifically proven that cat purrs and petting cats reduces stress levels. Not a replacement for medication or therapy, but woah kitty bonding-time is such a massively helpful coping tool!
I love this and fully appreciate how you feel. My cat was the baby I never had - she just turned up at my door - and filled my life with so much joy. Sadly, I have now lost her but she saw me through terrible times, the death of my husband and Mum a few months apart and really gave me a reason to go on. Enjoy your precious time together.

In Australia tho, if you take such tiny, labour intensive babies to a vet or shelter they are likely to be put down, so hand-raising them to between 9-12 weeks, when they would normally be able to be separated from their mother and rehoused is the only option if you don’t want the kitties to be put down. A shelter or vet will take them from 9 weeks on.

I was never a cat person. My Bruno changed that. He was one of the greatest loves of my life. Unfortunately, he got let out over night while I was out of town. And we never found him. I cried for weeks. Sadly. I still cry 5 years later. I loved him more than I've ever loved any animal in the world. I just hope that wherever he is. He's healthy and happy
@Honey. Either he died, which is something one has to accept as hard as that may be, or he was found by another family who loves him. My little calico died a few months ago and the boy cat and I are still grieving but I tell myself that I gave her a good life, and she brought me so much joy. Life can be really rough at times, my heart goes out to you. 💕

My cat lived with my mom's when I was away for school, and he was a street cat from the go, so he liked the great outdoors, so my mom let him wander around. No fault of hers, but on one of his trips he ate something bad, and got real sick real fast. I was at mom's for the weekend, and he was just sick. Saw life slipping out of him. I have never cried and will never cry as hard as I did the night when he collapsed in his litterbox and I was laying on the kitchen floor trying to console him, until mom took him to my grandpa's farm to end the pain.
This was like 16 years ago, and just thinking about it will never not bring me to tears. That fucking cat was my lifeblood. Rest in peace, Niilo. One of these days I'll get over it and adopt another stray, and give 'em the best fucking life they could ever have, and that'll be in your honor.

I know as a dog person, you are probably used to bathing your pets. But unless your cat gets super sticky-dirty or can't bathe himself for medical reasons like arthritis, bathing isn't really necessary. Cats are fastidious animals. Brushing is about the only bathing they usually need.
@@cmowery72 True the only time I bathe my cat is when they got poop stuck to their butts (my cat has long hair so that happens sometimes). But that happens only 1-2 times a year.
This just happened to us a month ago. Our tiny fur baby, Kimchi, weaseled her way into our hearts and now we cant imagine life without her.

My mum wasn’t ever a cat person until my brother found a kitten on the road walking around, he brought him in just for us to stroke it, and when we came in the morning he was still there waiting for us, so we kept him, and he has such a sweet personality, he never breaks his rules, and you never hear him meow, he only purrs 🥰😍

This is one of my favorite cat videos . I never get tired of watching it. Even though Jodie was not a cat perso she was still kind and compassionate enough to take in a helpless, defenseless kitten,temporarily. Watching her become a cat person and falling inl love with “the kitten / the kit / Kit” and end up keeping her was truly heartwarming . If and when Jodie ever decides to have a human child then chances are she will be a wonderful mother. But it will be somewhat tougher and more difficult and complex than raising Kit. Yet I’m quite sure tha Jodie will be a super great mother.

I'm proof of that. I got my boyfriend 2 kittens, because he wanted them (from a woman in a supemarket parking lot, no less) I was not really thrilled, but he wanted them and we had the space. We didn't know it, but one was male and one female. They had awesome babies. The happiest moments of my life were with these kitties. There was even a grandbaby from this family. She passed away in December 2019. This little sweetie was all mine. the light of my life. And I hated cats ;-)

I love this and fully appreciate how you feel. My cat was the baby I never had - she just turned up at my door - and filled my life with so much joy. Sadly, I have now lost her but she saw me through terrible times, the death of my husband and Mum a few months apart and really gave me a reason to go on. Enjoy your precious time together.
