Jeff's solo on Stanley Clarke's "Hello Jeff" is otherworldly madness R.I.P.

Jeff Beck makes a guitar do things I've never heard anybody else do. He's probably the most artistic player I've ever heard. JMO.

Not only the best guitarist I have ever seen, and I have seen a ton, but the best musician.

  • @daveguy11

The best part of this for me, by far, is "Nadia". Aside from the fact that the melody itself is hauntingly beautiful, it illustrates perfectly what makes Jeff Beck unique and irreplaceable: the astonishing control over tone (esp. including vibrato) and dynamics his fingers provide. (And it's the *electric* guitar, specifically, that gives Beck the "canvas" to do what he does.) I don't think there's anyone, on any instrument, in any music genre, who does what Jeff Beck does in the way he does it, which is why it will be a massive loss when, someday, he's gone.

I read that Beck just couldn't believe his ears when he hears Nitin Sawnheys original. He got his number, rang him and went round to Sawnheys studio as soon as he could!! Its a beautiful track and you should check out Nitins live version with Nicki Wells here - th-cam.com/video/4jJJHfL1yQA/w-d-xo.html

Beck has really broken through, his voice is distinctly original, like Jackson Pollack with his paintings. Jeff's technique is so original, it allows him to express things beyond what others just can't, myself included. All the great guitarists since the British invasion know Jeff Beck is the greatest of all time, and....he keeps getting better. He is a musical genius, IMO!

Exactly it is an electric guitar but unlike everyone else not connected to any pedals fuzz box noise maker...
      Just fingers bending strings

With apologies to Hendrix, Jeff is the most creative Strat player ever. Such mind and note bending tones, and so beautiful.

So just imagine if Jimi had lived until 2023 . . Jeff Beck is a fantastic guitar player, no doubt. He had the gift of living for 78 yrs, & continued for around 50 yrs. after Jimi died. . .

@@streetscaper69 Jeff Beck gave us the gift of his living. Amazing even in his old age. Jimi would have advanced and changed of course just like Jeff did.

Craig Gann I bet there are many guitar players like myself who love classic rock and progressive rock yet do not like Beck's playing in the least. Gary Moore, Shawn Lane, Paul Gilbert, Nuno Bettencourt, Ritchie Blackmore - all great players. Beck is not even in the same league.

People who do not appreciate Jeff Beck have irreparably turned themselves off. He is an exemplary "live wire," open to perceiving any inspiration and direction that any atmosphere will have to communicate "telepathically" with any receptive artist. There is no guitarist as receptive to any and every potential influence that this universe (and probably others, as well) emits.

The solo guitar statement introducing Nadia announces Beck's greatness right away; any pitch errors would be ultra glaring, but bold Beck, with his unerring sense of pitch and control of bends, pulls it off perfectly as usual; fantastic!

When all is said and done Jeff Beck is going to be known as one of THE most important guitar players in history, in any style. He never stood still in his career and grew musically far and above his brit invasion peers, nothing against them. Also, it's impossible to make comparisons to Hendrix since Jimi didn't get the chance to show how far HE would have gone. In any case if he had lived him and Beck on stage together (with a combined who knows how many groundbreaking albums behind the both of them) would have been a fucking supernova.
After hearing this I can't help thinking that Lopsy Lu sounds like Freeway Jam's prettier sister.

+Big Daddy Even Jeff bowed to Jimi many times verbally and he was always amused to hear from the stage costume tailor, that they shared, that Jimi had a bigger dick than he did! Apparently Jeff has a big one himself and tailors measure inner seams at lot! In the end you can't say which one it better but Jimi is definitely up there on par at the least.

Out of the three to come out of the Yardbirds - Beck, Page and Clapton - Beck is by far the most creative, technical and WOW....

    "It's in Jeff's hands" - Eric Clapton
I'm assuming he's talking about using no pick and constantly on the volume and tremelo

Vinnie always knows how to move....And with Jeff teamed up, their combo is superlative of the modern music voice. Background sounds all sweet too.
