Victor is great, and so are Marcus and Stanley. Love Marcus's tone too, but Melvin Davis not only is a killer bassist but has a ridiculous, solid, great tone. Got the the tight low end and push around 150hz, but that sheen and crispness on the top for definition. Glad I got to hang out and talk with Melvin when he was with Lee Ritenour and the band at Blue Alley in DC a few years ago. Cool dude and a great musician! A big inspiration for my playing over the years.
MERCI POUR CETTE MAGNIFIQUE VIDEO!!! LEE EST UN DES PLUS VIRTUEX DU JAZZ, CONTRIBUANT TOUJOURS À L' ENRICHISSEMENT DE LA MUSIQUE MONDIALE!!! VIVE LE JAZZ ET VIVE LUI!!!
That is my kind of music. Lee Ritenour has been one of my favourite guitarists for decades. All these musicians are fabulous, but I must say that Patrice Rushen on electric piano and keyboard is absolutely amazing, and Lee obviously thinks so too!
Lee Ritenour always assembles an awesome group of musicians the jam with…Melvin Lee Davis is the truth…and that Patrice Rushen on keyboards. I don’t recognize the drummer, it he’s killin’ it as well. 🕶🥁🎶🎼🎵🎸🎤🎭
@@matiasfranciscoponceramire1871 great list, great tastes. i add Pastorius of course but i know, it' s another style and it was the Godfather of almost all bass players in the history
I'm probably going to get negative comments but, I'm I the only one who thinks less is more sometimes? Too much tink tink(Look what I can do), and this is coming from a Bass player!! I totally understand if you're soloing! I'm not bashing Melvin, He a phenomenal player but I just prefer Jimmy Johnson myself!!
Melvin Lee Davis is one of the most skilled bassists on the planet with MONSTER TONE!!!!!
Indeed!
A funk bassist once sed
To really understand how to play funk is to make SPACE.
They funked the house I got chills
I have to say that I admire Lee Ritenour's willingness to step back and let his musicians shine. Very cool.
But that's also the best jazz from time immemorial ❤😊
Maravilha! A arte da música e o que ela transmite.
december 2023 still here?
This is not Rio Funk, this is BIO FUNK! 🤩

melvin davis clearly wanted to respect Abe Laboriel in this song
Yeow what a bass player ! He needs more strings and more fingers. Wow is an understatement
Yeaahh!!

Still got that dragg off the chain
That piano yea yea yea
Abraham Laboriel pls
Anthony Jackson PLEASE
@@matiasfranciscoponceramire1871 Or Jimmy Johnson!
Ok 👍👍👍👍👍

OOw yeah funky!!!!
Mr Davis has great Funk, he is up there with Marcus Miller
Wooten, Laboriel, Jackson, Clarke, Collins, the Olympus of BASS!
Not my cup of tea. Very skilled, no doubt. But when I hear bass I want to hear bottom, not a heap of clicks, high-pitched sounds, metallic dings, etc.
