SSUPD is a daughter company of Lian Li. W360 (co-creator of the NCase M1, so nearly GOAT status of SFF designers) was hired by them to co-develop the original Meshlicous case. The Meshroom D and (vertical Meshroom S) are the successors to the Meshlicious. They were not developed with W360 help because SSUPD basically didn't pay for the original work and were sued. It's probably worth vetting this a bit before singing too many Lian Li praises, IMHO.
Consider inverting the case. It does support this, IIRC the steps are in the online manual, but you pop the pushpin receivers for the top, unscrew the feet, put them on the top, flip case & put the pushpins back in
Came to say the same thing, it’s literally in the manual. GPU on top sucking in all the fresh air it wants.

Been running this case with an AIO for over a year and very happy. Great performance. Only complaint is the radiator bracket attaches from the inside so if you need to get to the motherboard it’s kind of a pain.
I have the original SSUPD Meshilicious, and it looks smaller and fits a standard ATX power supply, it is also a vertical form factor so takes less desktop space.
There's practical reasons to externally cool an ITX build. That's how mine is setup because my apartment is so small I needed to be able to put the case on a shelf over my desk and wall mounting wasn't an option because it's concrete block. Most ATX cases were too wide to fit up there and I was concerned about stability of a tall case so I went with a short ITX case and external cooling. It also makes maintenance really simple because I can disconnect the case from the cooling and both parts end are very light I can service them separately.
have this case. it is very versatile and fun to build in (save for slotting that dust filter in and out) !!! would recommend for anyone who wants a riserless itx build
4:04 fun fact, my first ever custom loop was in a Meshroom S w/ a 7950X3D + 7900XTX w/ a full 280mm and slim 240mm radiators. I wouldn’t say it’s “easy”, but most of my watercooling knowledge was from watching Jay (and Optimum), so I think Jay can absolutely handle it (maybe with even dual 280mms)
Tip The gpu doesn’t have to be at the bottom, not that it’s really disclosed that well but the whole case can be flipped so that the gpu is at the top. Just need to remove the feet and the top case clips and put them on the bottom… and then flip the case over. This drastically helps the gpu get air

I have/had the meshelisous and then the meshroom S. Actually great cases also. The S and D look to be the same chassis. But one is vertical and one horizontal
So im an electrician which is irrelevant to the point im making other than I have been involved with a few down draft paint booths. To my non air-handling education but self experience of wiring fans, dampers and seeing the result, when air can come from any direction you dont get flow. You get areas of intense airflow from the devices having fans mounted directly to them, but the "washing effect" of the cool supply and hot exhast air is left almost to... hot air rises no? A wind tunnel will cool much better than open air to my knowledge. Without a tunnel or hard sides to create direction, the air is left to find its way out of the case possibly being like "second hand smoke" in the room with the gross smoker in the room. This is why so many diy builds are stupidly built as guys don't think about flow, just think the more fans the better, mount them where ever the hell. Any thoughts are welcome, its noce to learn other people experiences for sure
If I understood your points correctly I have a few things to add: Yes, hot air rises, but the force is so weak compared to the force of the fans. Still never hurts to plan for that as part of the air flow path. The main goal is to keep the temperature inside the case supplied with fresh cool air, since thermal transfer happens better when there is a greater temperature difference between the heat producing components and the surrounding air. You could potentially get better airflow with a tunnel effect as you described, but the turbulence of GPU fans and the shape of some components is the argument for the design of this case because it lets air flow out freely however it wants. If you want to see a cool concept, a channel called optimum has a video called "I fixed PC cooling" in which he basically 3d prints seperate wind tunnels for the CPU and GPU. You are absolutely right that more fans is not better though. I remember watching a video testing a lian li case with the 4 fans it came with by default and using 12 fans that the case could fit and the overall temperature difference between the two configurations was a only a couple of degrees Celsius.
Fun fact, the Meshroom S is actually the same volume as the Meshroom D that you're using, but you can fit a proper sized ATX mobo in it. In fact, that's the case my present workstation for engineering school uses. In the ATX configuration, you can fit a 240mm radiator (although I do not recommend the Be Quiet AIO due to the pump location from experience) and a 3 slot GPU. It'd be fun to see you try a Threadripper build in one of those. Just some ideas...

My current gaming build is in this and I love it. I have in an open loop for both CPU and GPU with a 280 and a 240. It’s cramped but boy is it great and feel amazing to do all that in such a small footprint.
I've built 2 PC is SSUPD cases. One in the Meshlicous and another in the Meshroom S. Honestly the most basic case for a SSF case. If anyone can't decide on the style they can't go wrong with SSUPD cases.
Ever since that Falcon Northwest video, I've wanted to see Jay do a visit with those guys to see the engineering of how much airflow systems really need. I feel like Jay defaults to go ham with the fans because it's what he's always done, blasting past the point of diminishing returns but not able to tell because there's just so much airflow. Like he'll get the temps he's after but could probably do it with fewer fans. I could be wrong, but the Falcon Northwest folks have been at it for a while (I remember when they first showed up - so old...) and I feel like they'd know. Basically, want to see that video.
I do see the point in mesh and I believe it to be a good thing. Hate that it seems to have replaced a lot of actual filters though. No, they are not equal.
I can think of ways and reasons to utilize external watercooling on mITX. First, the computer itself wouldn't occupy that much of your desk area nor height if you have shelves up there, then you can have radiators mounted on metal bars connected to your desk legs or one of those massive square rads that have four or nine fans that you can set on the floor along the wall behind your case or one side's legs. Or two of these, potentially, one on each side or side by side along the back. "But if you can set them along the back side of the table then you have a huge table!" That you might want to keep clear for some reason because you have other stuff there, like controllers; flight sticks and throttles you move to the side when not playing a fighter sim; plus active speakers running off a massive class A headphone amp's preamp output (like the Schiit Mjolnir) which may also have a DAC (like the Schiit Gungnir), plus headphone stands because you may not have a shelf above the computer desk and you'd also rather not puncture the walls because it's not your own detached home, etc.
I love my meshy (not the D, the regular smaller one). I used to put it in my carry on along with a portable 4k display. Nothing like portable desktop gaming with a proper evga 3080.

Isn't is possible that a case with fewer openings could direct the air in a more controlled path and at a higher rate, for better cooling? Has this been tested?
Nice to see more builds that don't contain tons of RGB lights, though I can imagine it be a pain in the butt to keep this build clean with a case that is 90% mesh only.

Are there magnetic fans out there? I say that in the sense of the mouniting for it? Like there are magnets that are on the corner so you can mount a fan anywhere
Here's a question - given CPU and GPU heat tolerences are usually extremely high, do cases even need fans? At all? Would a case with zero fans have any impact on performance? At all?

At this point I'm pretty sure Jay is meming the fact that he's making videos about things 10 years after everyone else has.
Honestly, after the sheer amount of cases that sound like they've been named by Elon Musk, I love that they called it the meshroom. Back to reasonable names!
Unfortunately in Greece it starts form 200€ too expensive for a case like that!!
pass through so you can have 12 of them in a lan room all being watercooled by the same external system
I hope you post the build video soon Jay. The suspense is killing me!!
the mini cases are really taking off now. Love this one First 5090 Mini Build case ;)
i hope you'll try an open loop for both CPU and GPU in this. Not an AiO like you did in the 5090 build video.
JAY IS BACK WITH HIS UNIQUE BUILDS!!!!!!
Hilarious sequencing of 5090 preview build and meshroom review videos :)
if i needed this case i would get the Meshroom S V2 it is $150 but it has fun colors like blue, green, yellow the D has only grey, white & black the S also has those 3 + the other 3
Missed opportunity for the title of this video:
This Meshroom is Magical
Oooh damn they have a slick all white version. and $99 thats not bad.
Lets see the 5090 in this with full load test/gaming thermals. I'll wait.
I want one where one side panel is a screen.
honestly surprised no one else did this
Are there magnetic fans out there? I say that in the sense of the mouniting for it? Like there are magnets that are on the corner so you can mount a fan anywhere
George Lucas out here directing Jays videos now...
Here's a question - given CPU and GPU heat tolerences are usually extremely high, do cases even need fans? At all? Would a case with zero fans have any impact on performance? At all?
I used to be a firm believer of "there's no such thing as a stupid question".... Until I read this comment
Not me thinking this was a new Alicevision Meshroom update.
Can you imagine doing mushrooms with Phil? I bet that's so freeking hilarious.
Kinda reminds me of the DarkFlash DLC29 Full Mesh Mid Tower Case.
Weird to release the 5090 build before the case reveal 🤔
Cool little case, I'm intrigued to see what you build into it
Funnier name: The Gruyere case. Make it yellow as well.
