The bumpy, or uneven, or (think "Soi Buakhao") sidewalks in places like Bangkok, Jomtien & Central Pattaya, as well as motorbikes and soi dogs, are reasons why I can't understand why expat males rock sandals or Crocs. I wear sneakers. i'm not breaking a foot, toe or ankle
Enjoyed your video very accurate! Many people would be interested in your opinion of the best way to move money from the US to Thailand. I’m pretty sure it would also be helpful for other nationalities 🤗 ty for your efforts and considerations.
Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏🏼 For transferring money (mostly for rent) I use Wise and try to make bigger transfers when the rates are high. 2 weeks ago it was over 37 baht to 1usd so I transferred in thousands. Their fees are minimal. Otherwise I use ATMs with a Charles Schwab account which reimburses all atm fees. When using ATMs never choose the conversion. Your bank’s rate will always be better.
I would say drive assertively, not aggressively and never wait for the other guy, if there's an opening, go for it. Aggressive driving can lead to a confrontation with a Thai male who feels slighted.
Man those things aren't all telecom wires - you often can see and hear them sparking. Once I was on KPG island and shortly after it started raining there was a huge explosion at one of those boxes. The power cut for the whole island!
You can flush toilet paper just don't wrap your arm full of paper to wipe and flush like we do in the west 😂 and be prepared to flush 60 times per trip 😂
@peteonretreat2023 you can though like I implied expect backups and use small amounts, when I visit Thailand I use air bnb condos , though the owner says recommends not to flush the tissues , it will still flush.
@@Beep-Boop101 in condos it’s usually not a big issue. I flush TP in reasonable amounts in my current place with no problem. It’s in older buildings and small towns where the issue of narrow pipes becomes a big issue. Sure, you CAN but you can also cause the pipes to clog and even break.
Didn't watch Part 1. Diseases would be number 5, we have bum guns man! 555 STI's of course from consensual pleasure activities, but bacteria, viruses can also attack your digestive system and lay you out for a day or 2. As with inside wiring, outside wiring, plumbing, sidewalks, roads, etc...there is just a lesser standard to how they build here compared to (wealthier?) countries. Like our USA. I view it as a trade off for being surrounded by shiny happy people having fun, being friendly. laughing and playing together. Brilliant walk and talk Pete. Peace and Love Y'all
good video as always. i have an idea for some content if you ever are slow on ideas to post. You could tell crazy stories of your time working in retail from some nice location where you live. i started a spring summer temp job recently and already have a few stories to tell lol so im sure you have many
Spot on, Pete! Especially the sidewalks... sketchy at best when there actually are sidewalks. Need eyes in the back of your head for the sidewalk motorbikes (you can hear most of them coming, but some are fast enough there isn't much time to react). And with the low doorways, painful memories are still vivid from 20+ years of forgetting to duck when going through some of them. At least I haven't been shocked yet, but now I know to be more careful -- thanks!!
I’ve seen so many crazy things in Thailand. At the zoo I saw a lion contained by open mesh chain link fences and a 3 year old child reaching her whole arm through. They barely pulled her out in time. I’ve always thought their marketing slogan should be: Welcome to Thailand…Hope you make it! Still, love the place!
The guy who fell down the manhole cover died and he wasn't drunk. The metal cover had been stolen and they replaced it with a temporary wooden one he fell through. His family are suing the city for 10 million baht.
That’s a different person in a different province. This man fell in 2022 in Pattaya and didn’t die. The incident you’re talking about happened in Bangkok this year.
Yes , i probably have missed a lot from continously walking with my head bowed like quai chang caine from kung fu ( way before most peeps time in 72)..after my 1st day walking in pattaya and went down in a heep from one of your for mentioned holes in the sidewalk..very dangerous!!
Pete, thanks for bringing up the "toilet paper issue" I suggested in your last video, I was waiting for it and when it came up last I was like YES! LOL
Good question. It doesn’t look good. My girlfriend said they changed the classification yesterday but I don’t see it on the news at all. She thinks it’ll only be medical and you’ll have to smoke in a hospital… who knows but I really don’t see it going that far.

I wear sanders most days but If I’m drinking or going to walk over a mile, I’m wearing shoes and socks.
Personally I could not deal with all the trash on the streets.
Thumbs up 👍 Pete
Many thanks 🙏🏼 MSR
In Thailand, especially in Bangkok, if you don't like the way Thai people ride their motorbikes, then stay off the sidewalk!
Bwahaha

Assertively, much better word choice!

Yeah, I didn’t believe it when I heard it.
Bonus tip don't flush the toilet paper down the toilet 🤣

It’s a question I always ask when I’m looking at condos. Can you flush toilet paper here?

Bumguns was the 5th topic of the first video! 👏🏼
Thank you 🙏🏼
Standard wiring in Thailand is 200+ volts, not 120 volts like the U.S., so beware.
What about the water?
I feel like many TH-camrs do talk about that. I sure knew not to drink tap water before I moved here 🤢
In regards to the last tip...as lil Abe sez..."bring wet wipes...it'll all make sense when you get there"" 🤘😘💨💨➡️🇹🇭
Haha, for sure!

I’ve thought about doing some TJ stories… like the one time I got pepper sprayed.
no toilet paper but does it have a bum gun
If it doesn’t… it’ll have a wash bucket 😆

I haven’t been shocked yet either… and I’m going to try to keep it that way 😂

The land of smiles… and gasps

Don't walk on the LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD 🤣🤣🤣. You won't see the electric car that runs you over, and it won't be the rich-guy-driving-its fault.
Haha

When you can snatch the pebble from my hand…
It amazes me how much alike Thailand and Mexico are with these problems.we also have street dogs, fireworks all night etc
There’s a lot of similarities I’m sure, cultural ones too. My Thai girlfriend is starting to cook with jalapeños and taco seasoning now.
Pete, thanks for bringing up the "toilet paper issue" I suggested in your last video, I was waiting for it and when it came up last I was like YES! LOL
Thank you for the suggestion! I’ve got enough for one more video I think.
Take the napkins on the table with you before going to the hong nam just to be safe! Some don't even have the sprayer!
So where is it going with the 🥦💨

Pete is a Stud muffin
Thanks? 😂
