Dear Culworth Junction signal cabin was such a busy and magical place so direly cremated. RIP.

Hi John. Are you the same John Healy as in the books published?

Well your books first inspired me to become addicted to the history of the GCR, and now I’m recording what I can of what’s left to see. Thanks again.

@@NWP_EXPLORING That is really lovely to hear. The Great Central was such a magical line ahead of its time with so much to offer.

Great video. It's so depressing to see this, when you see the old photos, books and the bfi RAILS INTO GHOSTOWN video. Signalman Clark in the Culworth signal box

What a shame...Culworth junction wasnt far south of Woodford Halse... it was a busy junction and took the line to Banbury...avoiding Aylesbury and taking the line through High Wycombe to London...a criminal offence to burn that signal box...Bob...Paignton....

My Dad worked in this box. He was relief signalman from Rugby Central down to Chacombe Road . I can’t imagine what he thought of burning it down.

It's was bad enough seeing these railways destroyed by the people in suits, but to burn down Culworth Signal Box down only adds insult to it. Lovely video and footage, many thanks.

I know. I love these videos, but I can't help but also get infuriated when I think of how such a giant piece of our infrastructure was taken away from us by short sighted, corrupt politicians

@@Hard-Boiled-Bollock Yes, it was going on all these years ago and we must have felt helpless against it. Gross destruction of the wonderful things that our relatives had taken pride in building. We are now witnessing the same again but far worse. There needs to be big changes made before they have ruined everything we have.

@@levelcrossing150 Yes, when I think about such incredible structures like Brackley viaduct or Nottingham Victoria.. and the time, effort and pride that must have gone into building them.. and to see them now..

'14:04. That farm access bridge was built in the fields surrounded by nothing. The nearest embankment may have been miles away whilst the footings were being laid, even when the arch formers were being erected to build the bridge itself. Locals must have wondered what was going on.

Excellent video mate, it looks like a cracking place to walk as well. Great to see the remains of the signal box, but very sad about the demise of it in the first place. I do love a Platelayers Hut, so it's nice to see one in the video. I'm noting all this stuff down and going to come down there and get some photos of it all myself, I've already done a fair bit around Helmdon and Catesby plus had a cracking day out at Quainton Road. Cheers👍

Hi, pal. No big criticism but could you please identify for future videos which general direction (NSEW) we are facing. It was only from knowing where Banbury is that I could fathom whether we were facing North or South.
