thebossoftheswamp Thanks boss always appreciate it, that sunset was when we were coming down from the false cape, the land out there is high with great views out over the sea ice, very barren & rocky land out there in places, almost looks like alien landscape, going to do my best to get back there again next year, this was a amazing trip, was a great adventure.

I may try get back there again next year accompany someone on a hunt. Licence last for a week, if you don't get him then licence transfers to another hunter, keeps going tell tags are filled or season runs out. Incredible video man! Beautiful scenery and what an adventure! Loved that little cabin. Look very cozy in such a cold looking landscape! Just seeing those bear tracks is enough to make you realize you are part of the food chain there! LOL

A polar bear came through the father in laws and another fellers tent a couple years ago, the other feller said he still can't talk about it he rather cry ..lol they got a hell of a fright and were very lucky, the bear wasn't hungry just curious. In the dark the father in law grabbed his buddies gun, the safety was on and he didn't know it, he ejected all the rounds without getting a shot of, the bear left in one direction they went the other, as close as it gets, it may not always seem this way but its very dangerous and you have to be very careful. Hopefully i'll get back to that little cabin again next year, I going to keep going tell someone gets a bear. The scenery out there was amazing, I was a bit selective wanted to spare the batteries along, extra batteries on the list next year for sure. Thanks again, all the best ...!!!
When you were sliding down the hill I was thinking to myself, "I sure hope he can stop okay before he gets to the rocks". lol I have been in situations where I was sliding down mountainsides and wondering the same thing for myself lol. Once again I enjoyed going with you guys through the view provided by your camera lens. Thanks for taking us along.

Ukaliks (arctic hares) tend to dig very deep tunnels in the snow to get away from the sun as they are very sensitive to becoming snow-blind… an old hunter from Nain told me that this past week while on my way home from Nutak. Figured I'd share that, hopefully I'll get a few now before/during the Spring Goose Hunt

Can you tell us what gun you are using and what type of bullet or shot and what gun sights you use for each of the animals you hunt ... down in the states we don't have these animals and do not know what it takes to bring them down. Peter Berian Father in law had .243 cal for bear hunting, I use .270. .223 is a common caliber for seal hunting, very accurate for the distance we shoot and deadly for the smaller ringed seals and large bearded seals. .22 is used often for spruce grouse or ptarmigan but I prefer the 12 gauge or 20 gauge. 22 mag, 17 hmr would be nice for arctic hare, many use 12 gauge. +GuttaSnipe The pelt is very valuable & the meat is eaten, there are just 12 licences in Labrador, Northern Labrador. The polar bears here are part of the Davis straits sub population, this sub population is very healthy, they have been increasing since the 1960's I believe. We have very large populations of seals which are a major food supply for them, these bears spend a lot of time out on the ice flows. Some places the populations are not doing so well, I believe there are 19 sub populations, managements areas but they are doing quiet well here....little long but wanted to explain best I could...

Beautiful video again! Pretty cool adventure. That cabin looks pretty small but surprisingly comfortable. After being out all day like that all you need is a horizontal surface and a wood stove.

The cabin is 8 by 8 outside dimensions, very cozy, tipped back a couple, had a nice meal, I believe it was 4 before I woke up, put some wood in the stove and dozed of for another couple hours, after a long day, certainly long few days you have no trouble sleeping ...lol
***** Wish we could get batteries we don't have to worry about! Always a battle in the winter trying to keep the camera going and you have it much colder than I have it here!! Guess I could build my cabin 8 x 8, Sounds like a lot less work!! haha.
Jonathan Strickland Yes I have a inverter that plugs into the 12volt socket but left it behind, was going to use it to charge the battery, when I knew I had it left I had to be very careful. Its good when you can reach the stove from the bunk, very convenient ...lol
Cool stuff William! I like that little cabin! I have something similar made from canvas. When do things start warming up there. We've had a really mild winter here in Alberta, usually April is cold and snowy but not too bad so far. I think we have dropped below -40 only a dozen times this winter. Good luck with that bear! Need some good dogs to chase one down! Very Arctic like country you live in, I would be lost without some inukshuk to guide me.

+Jude Negrido Neither one this hunt, certain times of the year they spend a lot of time out on the ice feeding on seals, we seen lots of tracks, they came to land but went back out on the sea ice again, so far of the ice is broken and moving South with the Labrador current so you can only hunt them safely so far off land on the ice....

Charles Dorey They eat woody plants, willows, crowberries, leaves, twigs roots, mosses. They are similar to rabbit & caribou in taste ...!!
