Remind me of our last late ice fishing trip 30 years ago . I got mine rear end of the snow machine sunk and my neighbour sunk his in five foot deep. He and his pal went back out next day and grabbed the small machine out with two poles . We were lucky
Thank you yes was tough travelling. Not many roads here and the ones that we do have have not been around for a real long time. Pretty common for people to travel this way for hunting fishing and trapping. We always say the snow and ice is our road, opens up the backcountry, road just about closed now for awhile….
Thank you, we are fortunate to have quiet a few places to fish, some places like on the Eagle Plateau limits are about half of what you are allowed in other places, to protect them, I rarely or should say hardly ever fish there but will sometime. Though I pass through there quiet often.
Yes true there are many sad stories, to many. We do know our limits, anything that was deep and wide was checked. Actually not a lot of roads in the Bigland and the ones we do have have not been around a real real long time. People are use to travelling this way hunting, fishing and trapping, snow and ice open up the backcountry, we use this highway as long as we can.
I hate you, you know that right? Lol. Man what gorgeous trout, enjoy Bud, love your videos, 9 more days here on the island before we can trout again, total bs but it is what it is
There is a couple ponds where the ice is slow melting, out on the Eagle Plateau, may walk down to them sometime for a little fishing. Major storm on now on the South coast, up to 30 cm of snow, got my plans missed up for a couple days.
Yes that’s right best after ice deteriorate around the edge and Ice floats up. In Lay of ponds where we fished you could not fish there during the winter, ice was to the bottom, only after it floated up you could fish there.
Too unpredictable for me. I would like to see what you guys carry in your emergency kits. Lovely fish, though. Wonder what caused the fish kill. Low oxygen level caused them to cluster near a hole where they got pushed out? Thanks for the video.
Yes you gotta be very careful this time of year. Yesterday before I put the skidoo in the shed for the summer I took two small cardboard boxes of gear from under the seat and cooler in the rack, tools, flares, fire starting gear, I carry all three, few boxes matches, few lighters and ferro rod. Fire is so important. I should of done a video before i put it all away but I will sometime when I gather it all up again. I had 3 pairs of vise grips, though I taught I had just 2 sets under the seat….lol Always carry a few bars for energy boost as well, sometimes they could be there all winter but there just in case. Yes good explanation, first time seeing something like that. You welcome my friend and thank you.
I'm 55 years of age from Halifax NS my parents moved to Ontario when I was 4 years of age been back dare for a few family trips over da years but would love to experience a few days out date I'm an avid fisherman but cant hunt invites me out by I would love it
Real nice fish, looking forward to getting back there again sometime. You really have to be careful on ice like that, you really need to know the limits.
William. This is the best. One awesome ride. Some giant trout. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I love it. Superb. Wow.
Thank you kindly..
Fine bunch of trout. The trip in was hard going. Sure would separate the boys from the men in a hurry.
Love how you and your friends go after life, great way to enjoy THE BIG LAND,
Thank you, enjoy it as you go I always say, don’t wait for tomorrow.

Wow that's some beautiful Trout! well worth the hard drive in!
It was a tough battle getting there no doubt and yes indeed the fish well made it worth it, thank you…
Awesome stuff! 👌
Thank you.
It never gets old catching beauties like these ones.
Great run of fish, always a thrill when you haul one of these up.
👍👍 sketchy sledding for sure !!
Yes you really got to know the limits with this kind of ice.
Good job! If it was easy, the big brook trout would be gone.

Well, talk about living on the edge. Awesome trip. No doubt the last for the year.
William at 3:00, where you take the skidoo out of the pickup.
We find it easier if you back out onto the empty trailer. Just sayin’
Yes that should work good, not as far of a drop. I almost always use a bank of snow, they are getting harder to find..
William y’all had a grand adventure and caught some lunkers. I’m glad y’all made it but a lot of other people ain’t so lucky doing stuff like that

Dangerous but cool 😎 thanks Bill!
Yes you really have to know your limits at this, always risk involved regardless. Thanks buddy, hope everything is going great your way.
William winter is sure letting go. man that's nice fish. have a great evening
Yes she’s pretty much gone now. Heard as big as 7 1/2 lb trout caught there, big fish in this area. You to my friend take care..
I just got to say you guys are some serious fishermen....god bless ya
Thank you kindly..
I hate you, you know that right? Lol. Man what gorgeous trout, enjoy Bud, love your videos, 9 more days here on the island before we can trout again, total bs but it is what it is
Yep I'm out of words.
Last trip for season, put skidoo in the shed, I use to feel low for awhile. Thanks let me follow

My experience is that best ice fishing is on last ice, when there is open water close to land.
But there is a little scary and dangerous, be careful!

Crazy!!!
Even the otters were getting some fish.
The otters know where the fish are to, wonder how many they take through a winter, good many I would imagine..
I have swam with the ice a few times. Not my fav sport! Lol

Wow! Some dandies there. You got more nerve than me.
Real nice fish, looking forward to getting back there again sometime. You really have to be careful on ice like that, you really need to know the limits.
I can honestly say I've never seen anyone go ice fishing with no auger and no ice before. :)
Hahahaha yes, sometimes I do carry a ice chisel just in case, never even had that this time.
Now I TOTALLY understand the opening WARNING STATEMENT.
May I ask, do you wear flotation snowmobile suits??
I don’t but would be good idea to wear one.
@@Biglandtrapper not suggesting to wear all the time, but on sketchy ice conditions like those.
What has happened William? No posts from you for several months. You have a fan club, Pal. Let us know how you are>
Hopefully have a video up in the next day or two, having trouble with new editing software. Thanks for hanging in there, soon be back…
First thought that comes to mind is bat shit crazy.
Not a lot of roads in the Bigland, we are use to making our roads as we go but you can never be to careful all the same…
