Not only is this a better ending to the movie overall, but also this feels like a more satisfactory ending to the trilogy itself. Honestly, I don't know why they cut this. It feels better overall. The original ending feels too sudden without this extra addition.

Who is she to choose who should live and who should die. I just hated her! She's the worst character in the whole Langdon trilogy! SPOILER ALERT!! just finished the book today, what happened is that they don't find the bag in time, it had dissolved a week before and by the time they reached the entire world would have been infected by the airborne disease. So 1/3 of the population would become geneticly mutated rendering them infertile and will pass that gene down their family tree, thus Bertrand was successful in decreasing the human population. Dr. Sinskey invites sienna to join her team (in the book sienna wasnt a villain but more of an anti-hero who in the end was revealed to have been trying to stop the virus from spreading after realizing how drastic Bertrands experiment really was). Robert returns to his normal life and Dr. Sinskey sends him a package containing his clothes and his beloved mivkey mouse watch that he had lost in the beginning of the book.
The only good thing with movie versions of books is that we get to see the exact places and faces for the characters in the books. Nothing else. It is always a disappointment to see a film after reading the source book. If not the person have to watch the movie without remembering the fact that he/she read the book. Which is hard to do. As a movie it is good but ...

i agree but if they did then the whole sequence would of taken longer to film. plus it would of been 2x more horrifying if they found out that the whole mission was a failure since the virus was already released in the water. but you know how hollywood likes to cut corners with book based movies

People shut up... The Pic of Motion's ending is more satisfying from the virus pov... And it's more tense than the book which IS tense.. this alternate scene worths butttt the credit scenes are more constructive.

The difference is that Langdon returns to Harvard; there Elizabeth gives him his beloved Mickey Mouse watch and they talk for a while (maybe suggesting a reconciliation). Although I prefer the book's ending, this one should've fit perfectly with the movie!
