The voice actor for one of the characters actually did a cover of this with another TH-camr. He didn’t even know he could sing it until he did it. FEAR THE DEER!
God-Shattering Star deserves the intense name it has. Such a uniquely powerful and forceful track, yet having enough calmer moments to keep the listener interested and wanting more. Not to mention the awesome fight that it plays over! Great track.
When you said you thought it could be punchier I immediately thought of the thunder versions of the songs in this game. It’s basically the same song but with different instruments and with the composition often holding more of a focus on representing the chaos of battle. One of the cool things about fire emblem games is that when you transition from moving your units like a chess board to watching them fight/interact, the music shifts from the regular composition (like the one in the video) to a more violent and uncertain one seamlessly, then returns to the original when you’re back to moving your pieces.
that's only the case in 3H (the uncertainty). Awakening, Fates, Engage are more epic, but not as violent and uncertain as 3H thunder versions. And you just have a normal battle theme in SoV, pre-Awakening
Fire Emblem's stories are very operatic, including a lot of the traditional plot points of a tragedy, depending on the game. As a result, a lot of the music is very bombastic and consuming when the moment of the climax approaches.
Good articulation of what is happening. The mixing is pretty interesting and different than a lot of what you've been listening to on this channel. Also, you're spot on with the comment concerning the singer being more musical theatre than opera (even though the performance does go for an 'operatic' color). I enjoyed this reaction a lot. Together with the other commenter, here, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Shambala.
Yeah this is the Verdant Wind Final Boss stage theme. You only get this if you choose to teach the Golden Deer House as Byleth in the beginning of the game. There are some music for this game I recommend is Fodlan Winds, Apex of the World, Edge of Dawn, you know what just listen to everything if you can! xD
This is definitely one of those soundtracks where I would recommend just listening to the entire thing. It's really quite brilliant. Definitely one of the best soundtracks in recent years. I dunno if you looked at Octopath Traveler's soundtrack but that one is also stellar.
I’d say another good operatic song to listen to after this is Melody of Clarity (Part I) from Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a “what if” scenario sequel game to the one in this video
I'm so happy you decided to give this a listen, I'm a big fan of three houses (actually recommended this track on your other video lol) and it's especially in times like these that I wish Nintendo made it's music available on Spotify. Though I will admit, my favorite version of this song is the 9 minute version that is 2 versions put together iirc. I'm really excited to see what you'll listen to next! :)
This is my favorite thing from Fire Emblem. I'd also love to get a reaction to The Stars High in the Sky (The Order Grande BGM) That's another song that has a lot of intensity to it, and a lot of tension. Some really cool stuff on piano... kinda wish there was a cleaner mix version of it though. Not a fan of the reprise they did for the newer version of the fight.
I didn't play the game but I heard a few of the tracks because of some friends who played it and some of them were in Smash Bros. Personally "Apex of the World" was my favorite
If anyone wants to try an unexpectedly insanely good videogame OST find Neotokyo OST by Ed Harrison. It wasn't even a videogame strictly speaking but a multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2 (I guess) but the music quality is at the level of the very best OSTs. After that OST Ed Harrison worked on some "serious" OSTs like the one for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but Neotokyo OST really surprises.
Interesting he noticed immediately it seemed distant compared to the other tracks. Since the game has different routes, each one has its own flavor, and GSS shows up in the route where you step away from the internal house conflict in favor of lore and a clash between two ancient civilizations. All the other routes heavily involve the Church and Empire conflict, so there's a through-line of the main melody in "Lady of Hresvelg" mixed into the major moments. In this route, the focus on that fight gets pushed away for a different conflict, and so a completely new musical motif takes over the end fights
if i remember correctly the singing voice in this song is suppose to be the final boss of the golden deer route. I remember getting to this song and just sitting stunned for several minutes.
love your work , you should watch the "gameplay" videos on camera right after you watch any OST video , it'll add more depth to your experience & it'll be extra content for us
And then you have the... not-so-tough ones, like Veld, Fomortiis, Idunn, FE1 Medeus, Grima, etc who all die to either poor balancing, cheesy strats, or both.
So I dont really care how people feel about Nintendo (for me their games are perfection so I could give less fucks about the community or their admittedly litigious endeavors I'm in it for their actual output not the fan games based off their IP) but goddamn it seems like Nintendo is for sure one of the good ones when it comes to splurging on sound even if a franchise hasn't always recuperate their cost on investment
This game was my introduction to the series. I've always enjoyed the genre, but the setting always put me off. When Three Houses came out there weren't many other games of the genre on the Nintendo Switch, so I decided to pick it up. It absolutely blew me away with the gameplay and soundtrack and I've been a fan ever since. So a fairly new fan, but these games are great!!!
If you want a punchier mix, FamilyJules has done a metal cover where the vocals are much "stronger". Guest vocalist is also a voice actor for one of the main characters.

For my money the best piano work in this game is "Funeral of Flowers (Thunder)" which carries the bittersweet nature of that encounter over so well.

My favourite song from the game, just because it's SO DIFFERENT and really punches you in the face for how different it is, is Shambala

By far the best track in the game, love it.
I dunno, Funeral of Flowers (especially the subversion in Thunder) and Apex are both awesome, as are a few others (Fodlan Winds for example)
Yup it's up there for me too, with shamballa just because of how thematically different it was
This is definitely one of those soundtracks where I would recommend just listening to the entire thing. It's really quite brilliant. Definitely one of the best soundtracks in recent years.

Tastes like Final Boss music.
Thank goodness they specified the rain version.
Great video Geebz! Thank you Geebz and the twitch recommender for introducing me to this awesome song.
Knucklehead is definitely one of the descriptions of Nemesis of all time 😂
This is my favorite thing from Fire Emblem.
I'd also love to get a reaction to The Stars High in the Sky (The Order Grande BGM)

this song has been playing in loop in my head for about two weeks at this point

"For context: This is the final boss where you get to kill the CEO of racism."
-umbermarch. just another chat user
Next we need Shambhala.
God no. That theme is grating, and only really resonates because of the in-game context.
@@HollowGolem It's fun.
@@HollowGolem I like dubstep, so honestly when I first heard that song I absolutely loved it. I still think it’s a really solid track
I’d say maybe indomitable will, roar of dominion, funeral of flowers (rain and thunder), chasing daybreak, or between heaven and earth
if i remember correctly the singing voice in this song is suppose to be the final boss of the golden deer route. I remember getting to this song and just sitting stunned for several minutes.
more three houses tracks would be rad :)
You should check out “Lord of a Dead Empire” from Fire Emblem Echoes
This one Shatters anyone's expectations...
This battle in the game takes place over a kind of open, poison swamp terrain. Maybe that has something to do with the orchestra sounding distant.
love your work , you should watch the "gameplay" videos on camera right after you watch any OST video , it'll add more depth to your experience & it'll be extra content for us
the track for the stage before this one was dubstep
final bosses in the fire emblem games i've played are usually very tough.
And then you have the... not-so-tough ones, like Veld, Fomortiis, Idunn, FE1 Medeus, Grima, etc who all die to either poor balancing, cheesy strats, or both.
@@philippuente4322yeah and then there is Ashara at the end of the Ike saga... She makes me cry in fear every Hard Playthrough of those two games 😂
Awesome song
I hope you do one for River in the Desert from Persona 5 Roya please.
Do the sound track for Terminator Sega CD. Its absolutely wild.
Operatic would be the word I would think of. Reminds me of a play
Ori and the will of the wisps ku first flight
I hope you do one for Mobius Battle theme from the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise please.
This is the theme song to the true final boss of the game who's basically Satan.
Yeah this is got some major Mozart vibes. I thought it was pretty cool

One of my favorite theories about this piece is that it’s not actually the villain’s theme, but the hero’s theme.
Makes sense after you watch Claude’s voice actor singing this lol
Always had a similar interpretation of Edge of Dawn being from Rhea's perspective instead of Edelgard
The official lyrics are definitely from the perspective of Nemesis, and you can hear it when he appears in the opening cutscene
React to Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition - song (engage the enemy)
Sounds a lot like Nier
Bury the Light
