Great video! Question: When using the first method you mentioned to bake in the LUT, Can you click on your imported LUT picture profile and adjust it in camera for things like Black Level, Color Depth, Saturation, and ect?
I just wanted to ask, a few questions below PP11 you added your lut to PPLUT1: 1. Does baking in your lut mean that you are no longer shooting in S-Log3? 2. Does the camera bake/apply the lut on top of standard zv-e1 video or on top of S-Log3? 3. To see what the out of camera video is going to look like on the camera display when baking in our luts, should we turn on "Gamma Display Assist" and "Gamma Disp. Assist Tyoe" to S-Log3 -> 709(800%)? 4. Don't you usually convert the footage using a Conversion Rec 709 before applying a custom grade/look lut? So when you bake in a custom grade/look lut onto the ZV-E1, wouldn't it look bad on the lcd/display on the camera without the Rec 709? (Kind of like not applying a color space transform before applying a lut?) Sorry if it's a bit confusing. I'm just trying to get a better understanding. Thank you!
1 you are still using s-log3, it's actually just like applying a lut during post production, but now you can view it on the camera 2 on top of s-log3 3 no, turning on Gamma Display Assist is just for viewing the s-log3 conversion to rec709, if you want to preview the outcome of your appointed lut, just choose PPLUT1 4 it depends on different luts, some are created for slog3, some are for rec709, so you will have to install those that are created for slog3.
@@ConstantineSPhotographydo you have the copy of lut that we can try, and can this work on a7c ii too? i have this option ony my csmera but i dont have the lut file yet. cheers
@@ConstantineSPhotography thanks. I installed the LUT to my a7cii as per your video now. now if I want the footage to be baked in to the final video, slog3 to 709 lut as well, do i need to select 8bit video format? or is it still recommended to shoot in 10bit 422? thanks
Hi , i really like your video. May i ask you if we are using bake-in LUT when shooting the video , do we always have to exxpose to 1.7 or just 0.0 ( the MM)
Is the highest LUT grid size you can import 33? You can't import 65? Does that affect overall quality since normally you can edit slog footage in post at 65. Thanks. Good video.
When using a "baked - in LUT", should you over expose (i.e. S-Log requires) or should you just expose properly (or what you see in the camera - i.e. S-Cinetone)?
If you're baking the LUT into the footage, then you're essentially finalizing the color grade during the shooting process, so you can expose by eye depending on how you want it to look. If you're not baking the lut into the footage, then you're just exposing for S-Log3. You just have a preview of it.
For some reason, that original Sony "embed lut" setting just copy .cube file to sd card, but in another folder, not in "pro". You can move it to "pro" folder, and then use a "user lut" picture profile option. It bakes in then in footage.

By shooting with loaded LUT, is that mean I should only either select ISO640 or ISO12800 for the cleanest video? Even in sunny day time, ISO640 is still better than ISO100 ?
Do the zebra's behave the same way even with the LUT applied? I want to expose my SLOG3 to 94+ Zebras and I am afraid that the baked LUT will somehow affect the exposure and then the Zebras might behave differently.
You’re right about that LUTs would affect the zebra function. It’s better to import a video into your computer to make sure if the exposure level that the zebra detects is right at where you want it to be.
