Should have a switch for iso/ h padern that switches up your controls. Does it have the deluxe panel? You can check your codes on those. Definitely keep those bucket pins greased they will lock up if you dont. Keep up on Maintenance.
When you are digging don’t put so much down pressure on the bucket because if you hit something in the ground you will completely bend everything that is connected to the bucket. So if you want to dig a hole make it at a gradual slope and if you are going to dig down don’t lift up the tracks of the machine and don’t spin the tracks at full throttle when you have that much down presser on the boom and hydraulics.
The correct procedure for skid steer is to put the boom completely down to the stops then tilt the bucket down to cut. Now you only want to cut a little like you only want the cutting edge one inch below level. The reason for putting the boom completely down is there is stops that help lock the boom to the machine in the front reducing the spring in the boom frame and most sideways movement. If you have the correct matched bucket on the machine, placing the boom completely down, when you curl down the bottom of the bucket should sit completely flat on the ground with a little down pressure. That puts everything in plane and allows you to cut to grade level.
Otherwise your recommendation about not spinning the tracks and not spinning the tracks is correct. Skid steer sounds complicated to explain till you actually get the hang of using them correctly then things become pretty clear once you understand everything.

I would think that a mid-size tractor with implements might be a less expensive way to go than purchasing four or five pieces of equipment. Just a thought.
Or a compact tractor like kubota b01 series ($12k new - cheaper used) or mid-size lx at $17k or a cab+a/c lx at $25. All 3 - can get a rear backhoe attachment, front bucket and forks attachment, and even a pull mower all could be useful for Matt. I loved this video, my dad has worked at Cummins for over 20 years and I have fond memory's of sitting on his lap while he used grandpa's bobcat to clear our property. So watching Matt use a bobcat in a Cummins tshirt was awesome.
Did the original owner do a delete on the Bobcat as it sure smokes a lot during load changes? Something seems off. Does it have the high flow hydraulics option? Two speed travel option?
Just needs to set the throttle to 90% and don't mess with the pedal too much, just when you need a 100%, That thing was probably doing work at low rpm. It's throttle set, don't lug it (black smoke), and gentle on the pilot sticks.
@@domnicclassi3823 the thing is even at low rpm, the new diesels have dpf filters that prevent smoke. And this one being a 2018 should have def fluid as well since it is over 80hp. That's what the OP is wondering if something is wrong with the filter or if it's been deleted because even under heavy load at low rpm, it should not smoke at all.
I work on heavy equipment for a living the track skidders are a lot more stable and can lift more than the wheeled version. Bobcat has the undercarriage figured out at well which makes them nice to work on and run
They have an Auger attachment, its a life saver when you need a mess of post holes, there is also an attachment for moving round bails, I am pretty sure I have seen another one too. those are the ones i have used. oh and btw those are notorious for killing your lower back.
Highly recommend a 4in1 bucket every bobcat down here in Australia has one including myself and they are just excellent. For the t870 a NORM 4in1 would be a good match.

The best thing weve done with our buddies skid steer was put a big bolt to easily move trailers but it wasnt ours so we didnt put a ball hitch in the bucket.
My response to him as well! A smooth bucket can fine grade and do cleaner work right. I also mentioned to him the variety of attachments that are available! BobCats are amazing. That’s the only equipped I buy for our concrete business!
I own 4 of these Bobcats used for a variety of jobs on our dairy farm. If you plan on clearing roads, digging etc the bucket you have with teeth is your best bet. The finishing bucket with a smooth edge is great for the final stage.
👍 As someone who drives a Bobcat 6 days a week for three years in a T250, T650, and T770--so funny to see Matt this excited. And yes, the Bobtach is a game changer. If you know, you know.
Not very affordable even used but they are great to have. Our farm actually has an older ScatTrak that has come in very handy. That Bobcat should give you the ability to purchase a lot of aftermarket attachments that will serve you well. My grandfather had an 80s model that had a small backhoe attachment. I also know there are brush hogs that would just eat up those logs and shrubbery in your way. Big auger attachments for fence. Each of those attachments aren't cheap either but mansion owners should be able to afford it. Now your ranch needs a utility building to store/protect them... Good luck!
Check if air filter is blocked as it is emitting lots of black smoke when working, if not that get it serviced and checked. Someone could have upped the fueling to get more power but could damage the engine.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'm tippin' they sold it cheap to get rid of it before they copped a huge fine.
From what I've heard, the newer bobcats are underpowered
I agree
Just needs to set the throttle to 90% and don't mess with the pedal too much, just when you need a 100%,
That thing was probably doing work at low rpm.
That's what the OP is wondering if something is wrong with the filter or if it's been deleted because even under heavy load at low rpm, it should not smoke at all.
now you need a foresty mulcher flail mower. Would clean up the property quick.
My thoughts exactly, could make all kinds of trails with ease.
he can get an attachment for his bobcat, also a backhoe so he can dig deeper ruts
I 2nd the forestry head mulcher
I was going to saw a brush hog, but a mulcher would work also.
@@jjeanes2214 brush hog be kind of pointless on his type of land, there small trees everywhere, you need a mulcher to tackle that shit.
I work on heavy equipment for a living the track skidders are a lot more stable and can lift more than the wheeled version. Bobcat has the undercarriage figured out at well which makes them nice to work on and run
Matt get it serviced, and make sure you keep all the fittings greased regularly
seeing as he said he bought it from a dealership I am guessing its been fully serviced but he deff needs to maintain it which i deff see him doing.
Doctor: No driving for 2 weeks. Matt: Driving a truck and a bobcat 2 days later...he's not kidding
Maybe he bouhgt it BEFORE his surgery... Sometimes they shoot the material a few weeks kmin advance
@@Nylander2004 someone didn't watch the video.
The risks he runs for infection or serious complications are stupid high right now. He's quite frankly being a fucking moron about it.
@@actschp1 got that so right
Episode after camouflage wrapping bobcat ;" Lost my bobcat in the woods"
I have a spacer, plate and 6 screws in my back and I compete in strongman and was released for full weight in 13 weeks. Started easy with a 635 deadlift went great and kept going up from there and have had a 900lb yoke on my back no issues all good. You'll be fine
Do you juice though bro? That really makes a difference in how much you heal
Need some Camarata Property Maintenance on site. He’ll take the water away.
Matt- a lot of places will let you rent a trenching attachment. That would make your river-building way easier!
Look into a Harley power rake. They work wonders for roads, and landscaping. Saves a TON of time and material.
“What’s the point of having a bobcat if you can’t lift stuff with it” -something Matt would say 2021
Welcome to 18 minutes of Matt justifying buying a skid steer to himself and mere lmao 🤣
Love you Matt
Get better soon
Pink realtree wrap! Also, you can get a backhoe attachment for the front. And a trencher. Pretty sure you'd love a trencher!
The best thing weve done with our buddies skid steer was put a big bolt to easily move trailers but it wasnt ours so we didnt put a ball hitch in the bucket.
Smooth tip bucket is much more practical for what you need
My response to him as well! A smooth bucket can fine grade and do cleaner work right. I also mentioned to him the variety of attachments that are available! BobCats are amazing. That’s the only equipped I buy for our concrete business!
The rite operator can fine grade just as good with that gp tooth bucket as a smooth edge bucket. Give me a tooth bucket over a smooth any time.
I own 4 of these Bobcats used for a variety of jobs on our dairy farm. If you plan on clearing roads, digging etc the bucket you have with teeth is your best bet. The finishing bucket with a smooth edge is great for the final stage.
@@shaggy6594 I also prefer the toothed bucket as well
Camo skidsteer would be BADASS!!!
👍 As someone who drives a Bobcat 6 days a week for three years in a T250, T650, and T770--so funny to see Matt this excited. And yes, the Bobtach is a game changer. If you know, you know.
Having teeth on a bucket makes a big difference in digging ability also.
Next demolition ranch video title: "is a bobcat skid steer bullet proof?"
Good luck!
Matt don't be silly with the Back problem you have. That Bobcat jars around pretty aggressively.
Every 1500-2000 hours, you should trade it in, that way you won't have to do much work to it.
Check if air filter is blocked as it is emitting lots of black smoke when working, if not that get it serviced and checked. Someone could have upped the fueling to get more power but could damage the engine.
*Off the ranch* "i got a skid steer!"
*demolition ranch* "how many bullets can a skid steer stop"
The bucket will stop anything short of a 50 cal some armor pens might go through in low cal but nothing short of that.
It has some scratches at a level 6 with deeper groves at level 7. 🤣
@@jonny555ive more like scratches at 9mm with deeper groves at .308.
He already tested a bucket before.
“I’m not totally dumb, just half dumb” coming from a man who was a vet🤦🏼♂️🤣🧢
Wait, he WAS a vet? Is he no longer a vet anymore so he can continue demo ranch or something?
@@chezborgr1117 I don’t believe he has ever confirmed it (someone correct me if I’m wrong) but he still owns the Vet but he does not do it himself anymore
@@gamingredneck6700 in the Free Range American Podcast episode he said he still owns the Vetclinic and does everything to keep his licence. He just likes doing TH-cam more
I'm not positive but I think he said that he does the minimum required hours every month or year, etc. so that he can keep his vet license active. I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that's what was said.
@@notsosilentmajority1 Exactly what he said.
There are many great attachments for mowing, cutting and stump grinding.
I’m pretty sure that they sell a excavator attachment for a bobcat
Yep, they sure do
Matt, "Big thick metal back here." Of course the question everyone now wants answered is, is a Bobcat bulletproof?
hmm
Bucket probably is
@@Justapotato14 probably not actually. He shot a larger but similar bucket a while ago and it was good but still let a few rounds through
That frontend Brush mower attachment would be very helpful clearing the overburden...... and make it real big lawnmower
We need to know, is the back door of a skidloader bullet proof, they are super heavy
That part killed me" I'm not totally dumb, I'm like half dumb" LOL I agree with that statement because I'm the same way
Get a 4 in 1 bucket for the bobcat will make clearing scrub and moving logs and grading dirt more efficient .
If you need to dig a lot of holes get an actual excavator (only needs to be a small one)
The best thing about buying a bobcat skid is the day day you bought it and the day you sell it!
That only applies to boats and rv's. Skid steers are actually useful every day.
@@leftyeh6495 a small tractor is much more useful, with equipment front and rear.
Then he could have gotten a tractor with a digger in the rear...
" I'm not totally dumb, I'm only half dumb"
- Matt
😂😂😂😂
Find your local bobcat dealer and see what attachments they have available to rent. There is probably 50+ attachments out there that could make work out at the ranch much more efficient, plus a lot more fun.
How’s your back doing? It’s only been two days since you posted that video. Hopefully it’s been more since actual surgery…
Ok had to stop to cook dinner…
He’s like a kid with a new toy on Christmas morning!
I currently work at a Bobcat plant and worked on the line that makes those machines. Just started this year, but a current T870 before any package or attachments is about $91k
That Omaze house is Omazing! To bad that area in Austin is being over run by homeless people....
You misspelled leftists.
That's why they are giving it away, nobody wants to buy it.
That's why you take the 1.3 million.
Or you can get 1.3 mil
Mat you should replace the hummer in the intro with Able
Abel
Nooooooooooo
Kinda hard to do that if he didnt make the intro the original creator made it for him when he had the humvee back in the day
If its within your budget I would suggest buying a forestry mulcher head for it to help with maintaining your ranges and clearing overgrown brush.
They sell all kinds of useful attachments for skid steers. The hole boring attachment is a good one.
And the giant jackhammer for the Hill Country limestone.
Good stuff to clear logs and stuff on the ground...
Grapple buckets and front end brush hogs are awesome attachments for the big ones like that with the hydraulics.
@@matthewdomeno7267 does this one have hydraulics tho ?
@@DRAGMASTER29 I saw the plugs mounted on the left side of the arms.

If I remember correctly you can get a backhoe attachment that fits to the bucket position on your bobcat, check with your dealership. That’s the beauty of the bobcat skid steer system is how modular it is😎👍👍
Meanwhile there’s someone sitting at home sayin if only he knew what we did with that thing.
Back dragging is key with big skid steers. And not hard to master , just FYI. Love the vids man.
Hey, that bucket has teeth so he has to back drag with the back of the bucket which gunks up the pins. It won’t effect it it he cleans it semi regularly
You are an absolute MASTER with editing. Lol I wish I could just see the editing process for some of these videos… like what makes it, and what doesn’t. You should do a whole behind the scenes compilation for people. It would be a hit!
If matt ever operates like a CAT 950, he's screwed. He'll definitely want one.
That’s beautiful. I hope y’all r doin well in Texas heat
It’s Fukin brutal my dude!!
Its horrible
The bobcat is perfect for what you need. There's tons of attachments. and if you need backhoe you can always rent one
Be careful Matt being on a skid steer can still mess up and bounce your back around. I promise. I know lol
I went to the chiro one time, he asked my profession. I told him heavy equipment operator. He goes, ooooh this makes sense. Moral of the story, take it easy, don't push too hard and equipment can also hurt lol
If Matt’s going to be grading with that he’s definitely going to need a toothless bucket. That and experience
I'd love to know what kind of material you're grading and what machine spread it out before you got there. If anything he needs a 4-in-1 bucket with teeth.
Backwards... until he gets a 4-in-1
Well, he is from down south. They know all about toothlessness.
i would reccomend getting a smooth bucket for dirt work and such
Next episode : how bullet proofed my new bobcat is against the 50 cal.
It’s not 😂
Should someone tell Matt that this can be operated by remote control if he buys the remote?? I feel like that could get dangerous lol.
1. Compact Track Loader (not Skid Steer)
2. Rock Grapple Bucket is your friend
3. Forestry Mulcher!!! ( you can clear that range quickly)
