Removing underbrush and sucker trees is never a shame. It helps with fire control,water, and native grasses conservation. We removed several acres of "cedar trees" on our property leaving the native oaks and grass lands to regenerate. The " cedar trees" choke off other native species and use more water to grow.

Don’t angle the bucket straight down into the ground when you scoop, always go at a gradually downward pitch until you get to the point you want, then excavate the land to that point, don’t just angle the bucket down as far as you can and try to push it like that bc you won’t get far

Hey mat I'm a machine operator diggers / dozers. If you use your skidsteer as a dozer put the blade down and then push the right stik all the way forward so it stays ther then it.s in floating mode then you can reverse and drag the bucket after you and you get a nice plane ground😉

I have over a decade of highway heavy paving experience and even built a few roads through swamp's full of water ,such fun, the problem of just trying to put rock down is it sink in the clay and not work for crap
scrubs trees are less that 4 inches in diameter anything bigger is not a scrub tree it is a tree. Florida, Alabama,Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia understand this. Just because you can run over it with a heavily modified vehicle does not mean it isn't a tree. 5 ton or not you take on a healthy tree at 4 inches plus and you might find yourself with a substantial repair bill.
Those new skid steers are awesome. They make life so much easier compared to the older ones. We have a couple of Kubota's at work and they are life savers. Plus you can get attachments for just about anything you want to do.

Honestly a 4in1 bucket would help you out a lot. Also don’t forget to grease the tracks. There should be an access plate on the side of the track, inside is a grease fitting that way they stay tight and you don’t lose a track while turning over those trees.

You need a mulched/grinder. My parents used to be a Fecon dealer. You could get a fecon or fae head for your machine, assuming it’s a high flow machine. A bit of an investment but leaves a nice finished look, nothing but mulch behind, environmentally friendly and relatively fast. You’ve already made the largest part of the investment! I ran one for a while and that’s just my suggestion

I didn’t appreciate cleared land until I got a lot of land that was thick overgrown forest. It’s a lot of work to create pasture, especially when the land was covered in sweet gum and vines.
