I don't usually comment on TH-cam videos, but you are the FREAKIN' MAN for making this!! I was freaking out and thought I would have to replace my camera or buy a new SD Card before I followed your easy steps. Thanks dude.

You just saved me $200 repair from Nikon, My clip was stuck up on my D500. I did that first thing with the paper clip and the little retainer clip was stuck, Thank you. Just a FYI, stay away from the pins at the bottom,

I never comment on TH-cam videos, but this one saved me! The tiny piece of plastic was in the bottom of the SD slot; I happen to have dental picks, and within seconds, the problem was fixed. Thank you for posting this!

You are great and saved me for spending a lot of money. It was actually this little peace of plastic from the card that caused the problem. 5 Minutes of work, a lot of money saved. Thank you so much.

That fixed it instantly!! Thought I was in for an expensive repair but there, just as you instructed, was a small piece of black plastic. Brilliant! Thanks, David

My heart sank when this happened to me earlier today. Luckily, I have a d750 and it comes with two card slots. So, on my second shoot for the day I only shot with one memory card slot and carried my d5300 with a 85mm 1.8 as a backup. Anyway, thanks for the tip. I could not see the tiny piece of plastic without a magnifying glass. I used a paper clip, puckered up, and got to work and managed to get the microscopic piece of plastic out without damaging my camera.

It was not a piece of plastic but the locking mechanism was stuck. I used a thin toothpick (nothing made of metal) and I've pressed gently it untill I listened the click. Now both slots of my Canon R6 work fina again.
    Thank you a lot!

I just purchased a second-hand Sony a6400 for very cheap, due to (hopefully) this problem. The seller said a friend inserted an SD card the wrong way, and now it won't hold SD cards. I'll be getting it next week, and hopefully, this works! thanks for the detailed video!

Thank you, this worked on my Canon T3i. Went with the paper clip. Kind of hard to see as the inner assembly is black just like the piece of plastic but I gently poked around and spotted the piece jiggling in the back corner of the slot. I got it to flip out of the corner then I turned the camera upside down and wahla it fell out. I had a piece of white paper on the bench so I could see it drop. Thanks again! Your video was very well done!

Thank you for posting this video!!!! This helped me fix the clicker in the SD card slot on my Ford Fusion. I just bought the car used (2yrs) and it had a food crumb stuck behind the black clicker. I used a paper-clip to jiggle the food and used gravity to shake it out. Then I was able to click the SD card in place. Thank you!!!

This was very helpful, but in my case the chunk of SD card was a long narrow sliver and it was stuck under and behind the curved pins at the back of the SD slot of the camera in a way that made it impossible to simply remove.
I ended up disassembling the camera, which helped with having more light to work by. The metal SD slot case had one small hole at the bottom. That hole was too small for the sliver to come out of, but I managed to maneouver the sliver so it was partly over the hole, and then use a jeweler's screwdriver to smunch the sliver into the hole in such a way that it broke and half of it came out through the hole, and the other half was then easy.

Your in between comments were funny...however this video was a life saviour man...I had actually given up once as I coudnt see anything...then I realised something is there and was afraid I should not end up damaging the slot...finally tried 2nd time with paper clip could take it out and it's working fine...

I just blew and then sucked the slot 😆 worked a treat.
A plastic tie cut or sharpend at the end to a point is the best thing - less likely to damage electric contacts - I use it to clean out my phones usbc (id lost it for this)

Unbelievable. Mine had a piece of plastic also just like yours. I bought this new back in the first year it came out and have been dealing with the card issue for about ten years until today it finally got to a point it would not take more than 2 picture and then read CHR error over and over. Paper clip and dental tool was my solution.

We’ll I’m needing help for my favorite camera a D3300. The SD card won’t lock when you put it in. I tested the little mechanism as you said and it works fine. I’m afraid the little metal “teeth” might be bent down some. I wish I could post a photo I took a pretty good one of the inside. I can put the sd card in but it’s not clicking like it use to, but I do hear the clicking when I test it with a paper clip. Any thoughts appreciated.

    • @tuffylegit45
      @tuffylegit45  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Man, I can't think of any great solution of the top of my head, especially without seeing it like you said. Sorry. I'm sure you've already tried a different sd card to make sure it's not something wrong with the card, otherwise you could give that a try. Do you have a similar camera you can look at to compare your slot to? That could help you determine if there is a metal piece bent like you said. Also, triple check there is no bit of plastic wedged in behind those tiny metal spring pieces. If you know which card you were using before the slot quit working right, closely inspect the card and see if any plastic is broken off of it, especially the thin bits of plastic by the metal contacts--- compare it closely to a known good card. Good luck! I'm curious-- let me know if you found out what the issue was! I'd appreciate it!

Found the plastic bit right away. But the slider on the SD card came off in the locked position (of course). Any way to unlock it without breaking open the card? At least they aren't too expensive.
