    Outstanding And Thank You - I Was Fingering This Tune With The Wrong Notes And You Made This Tutorial Much Easier On Me - I Was In That Box Shape Mentality - You Played An Open A String As Were I Was Playing The G On The 3rd Fret Of The E String - I Shuffled That G And Then Dropped Down One String To Rock The C And D Notes - Obviously My Style Was Horribly Muddy - Around Bar 53, That Is So Simple And I Ran A Muck Over It - Now Its Clear As A Bell Because Of Your Lesson Here - THANK YOU - And Thank You For Being You - I Appreciate The Fact That You Take The Time To Read These Comments And Drop Some Feedback The Way You Do - And Mentioning My Name Near The Intro Made My Month - STOKED
    Stay Brilliant Brother Man,
    Cheers

      Hey Travis, don’t mention it. You made some really great suggestions. I’d had that chart half-made a while back and had forgotten about it.
      Glad the lesson helped and keep groovin’ man!

    Hi Greg, fabulous lesson, I wondered why I hadn’t received anything, it went in my junk mail for some strange reason. Had lots of fun playing this, well with all ZZ tracks to be honest, no surprise which song of ZZ’s went down well at weddings😂 We had La Grange and Under Pressure in the same set list, went down really well on the dance floor.
    Great lesson, and we’ll explained on that bridge section!! Top notch.
    Keep groovin’ keep rockin’

    Good afternoon, Greg I know this has nothing to do with this excellent lesson, but I have rediscovered Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. My age at the time of the release of the self titled album was 13, so I was more into whatever was on Top of the Pops.
    But as I was skimming through TH-cam, I came across the whole album, and knew I needed it in my collection.
    The bass lines are simple and without unnecessary frills and are probably as they were originally played.
    I'm working my way through each tune. 🎶🎶

      It’s such a good album isn’t it. I luckily discovered it in my Dad’s collection circa 1989 and played it a lot then. I was slightly confused when I then heard later Fleetwood Mac which is very different!
      I’ve just recorded guitar, drums and bass with a band for Love That Burns. It’s going to be in my Birth Of British Blues course. I love that tune.

      @Ghost_Vulgarian ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregsBassShed I look forward to the Birth of British Blues course, Greg. From what I've picked up as far as early British blues is concerned, is less is more. Solid but not overpowering the guitar or vocals.

      @@GregsBassShed There is no comparison between the Peter Green Fleetwood Mac and the later Americanised version. That album has so much passion from the musicians and some fantastic songs.

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ghost_Vulgarian I agree. That album absolutely hits the spot. It’s so from the heart.

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ghost_Vulgarian definitely right until you get to Jack Bruce or Andy Fraser who favoured a lot of notes! Check out Goin’ Down Slow by Free. It’s possibly the busiest slow 12/8 Blues I’ve ever heard, but it works!

    Very nice lesson! I was told early on in my bassventures that ZZ Top was a good place for fairly simple lines, emphasis on fairly. I learned Waiting on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago a few years ago. Waiting has kind of an interesting and quick little turnaround at the end of each verse. Took me awhile to get that. There's also some quick stuff in the guitar solo. Straight forward, but fast! Then when it transitions to Jesus that's all just straight up blues feel...feels good to play it though!

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers! Yeah they are fun bass lines to play. Not too tricky but the groove in that band is insane!

    • @Tracer9GTRider8
      @Tracer9GTRider8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GregsBassShed That's exactly right. If you can't feel the groove it doesn't matter how simple the line is.

    to me it sounds like the F is played up an octave instead of the first fret of E string rather the third fret of the D

    • @GregsBassShed
      @GregsBassShed  ปีที่แล้ว

      The guitar is definitely playing a higher ‘F’ there but I can hear a low ‘F’ in the bass line.
      It would be fine to play that ‘F’ an octave higher if you want as it makes it easier to play.

  • @jonswift7174
    @jonswift7174 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Over the years I've seen many tabs of the verse where it goes from "A" to "C" to "D" and not going back to the "C" before returning to the "A" note !!!!!Weird.!!!!! I've also seen the bridge written as an "A" note,then a hammer on from "C" to "D"then to a high "A" !!!!!

      I think sometimes people just write what they think it is rather than really listen to the bass line!
