I'm a long time Bass player, Radle was one of my favorite inspirations, played with Delaney & Bonnie, Joe Cocker, Clapton, etc. .. a former bandmate of mines Dad Jim Horn was a fellow Oklahoman musician along with Leon Russell, and those guys played with Feel, whoever they played with. Thank you for remembering the grooves that Radke laid down! . Along with Bill Wyman and Berry Oakley, Radle was a Bass Hero to me when I first picked up Bass. I still go back to him and those 2 for practicing, after all these years.....One of my "Yodas of Groove" touch-stones, ....a Solid Master.. Thank you for Remembering Radle.😎
Really glad you liked the lesson and great to hear how important and how much of an inspiration Radle is to you. I really rate him and I must look at more of his stuff in future lessons, maybe Joe Cocker number.
Love starting off my Saturday morning with a great bass lesson from you Greg. Cant wait to get at it. Guess I'll have to put my other work to the side.😊
sup fellow bass brother. while i'm not a big fan of this song in particular (probably cuz i've heard it a million times), you still broke down the song really well and made this a fun song to play. I can't really give more of a compliment than that. Keep up the good work.
Cheers! I must admit that I got sick of this song too a whole back. But after a break, I love it again and it’s a really fun one to play. Glad you liked the lesson.
Fellow low Enders, although a do a million and one songs, whilst clubbing, this is one that comes up not very often, so if it’s being requested for a gig, it’s nice to give it a quick pop on and then go to the track after, and Greg’s your uncle, lol
Carl Radle is a musician's musician. Hes in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for a reason - and Clapton picked him for a reason! I learned his bass line for the Derek & the Dominos version of Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out. Not super technical, but fits the sing well and he varies what he does just enough to keep it interesting.
Another great lesson and video Greg, many thanks. How about looking at another Eric Clapton recording - his version of I Shot the Sheriff. I am not sure whether it was Carl Radle on bass, but the bass line does have the long and short articulations. Also, many thanks for your Birth Of British Blues series - it taught me a lot about playing bass and some great bass lines and music.
Bit of a generalisation there! Personally I think it’s important to teach a lesson rather than just play so the talking part is important. Think about how much talking there is in a one-to-one lesson and a TH-cam lesson will make more sense.
Love playing this one, Carl Radle was a brilliant player.
Couldn't agree more!
thanks for the lesson, very nice line, sad to learn that the bass player died long ago and at a very young age
@@roaming740 yeah, I always think it’s sad when such talented players die so young. Glad you liked the lesson.

Hey Travis, glad to hear that you managed to recycle that minor run and great to hear that you're out there jamming too!

Great to hear Robert. Work can wait 😀
Thanks again, Greg - like you, I haven't listened to this for years, but it was one of my favourites back when I was at uni (shows how old I am!). 😉
Many thanks Pete!

Spot on, his bass lines are great to play.
@@GregsBassShed another good one is "Let It Rain" from Clapton's first album. I never get tired of listening to those fills between the opening riffs!

Great idea, I think that is Carl Radle. I'll look into it.
Glad that you enjoy my Birth Of British Blues course too!
Why are english and aussies sooo chatty?

disagree, sorry, You'd be surprised how much is learned by just observing!@@GregsBassShed
@@werkzeugmann6224 I wouldn’t be surprised but to be honest you’ll find plenty of other videos on TH-cam to suit the way you most prefer to learn.
No prob, I'll take your advice.. cheers...@@GregsBassShed
