I very much appreciate the walk through of the overdrive wiring you give us in this video! At some point in the future I will be doing the same on my TR4, which was a non-OD car, but now has a rebuilt gearbox with an A-type OD. I'm looking at a bit more complex installation, though. First, the OD switch in my car is a button built into the shift knob, rather than a lever in the steering column. That's not a big deal. But I'm also adding a "logic box" I got from Revington TR. If I wire it correctly, that will make the gearbox and OD operate more like a close ratio 7-speed. I don't know when I'll be getting around to that project, but will definitely re-watch this and some of your other OD wiring videos before tackling it!
WOWSERS! You sure make an awesome teacher Elin. Thanks very kindly for your kind help brother. I have all these videos saved for when I get the TR6 restoration started. You are awesome!
:) I am trying to cover the most important parts. Sometimes I make mistakes, as I am new to TR6 assembling too, but I come back and correct them so everybody can learn from my mistakes too.
Hi Elin, thanks so much for all of your TR6 videos! You are an awesome host and I've learned so much. In fact, you have given me the confidence to buy a TR6 of my own. This video was perfect timing, as the car I'm getting needs to have the horn circuit repaired and the wiper motor fixed or replaced, along a few other minor electrical repairs. Perfect timing! Please do keep up the great work on your cars and one the videos. VERY Much appreciated!
I am really happy when I hear my videos were the reason for other people to take their own cars or projects to work on. That makes me even more ambitious to keep doing what I am doing. am really happy for you! Good luck with your new TR6
Hi Elin, I'd give the o/d load circuit power from the battery rather than through the ignition otherwise you may overload the ignition switch as you were worried about the overdrive column switch burning out.
It makes sense, but I am not worried about overloading the switch. You know the main abuse a switch takes is when it is turned on or off under load as the contacts burn out from arcing. However when I turn the ignition on or off the overdrive will be in the off position as I am always in first or neutral when I start or turn off the engine. If I thought about it before I did the wiring I would probably do it the way you suggested, but since I didn't I am not going back... too many other things to catch up on :)
The flasher unit you installed is for the 4-way emergency flashers. The one for the turn signals is located in the right side (passenger) foot well. This could save you from going crazy when you test the turn signals. I hae been told the turn signal flasher was installed inside the "cockpit" so the driver could hear it working. Good luck with that I say!
Yes, thank you. I noticed that when I was looking at the wiring under the dash and I was trying to figure out what those wires were for in the passenger footwell. Thanks!

Well done. It all makes sense when you explain it. Thanks for the video.
A noisy video on a workday in your workshop is way better than no video! Ignore those comments...

Thanks for the support!
That's a very helpful video Elin. Thank you.
Thanks Sean!
Elin, Congrats on 8K subscribers! Well earned.

Hi Elen first from England love your channel
You work in a garage, not a library!! Ignore the comments about the unwatchable videos because of noise.
I kind of agreed with the comment, but the tone was really abusive so I erased it. That was one of the few comments I ever erased.
My brain hurts!
LOL, mine too!
I’m sorry but I skipped the ad. It’s a 16 minute ad! Hope that doesn’t hurt your revenue. If so I’ll go back and watch it. Hope all is well.
Granite I’m going to go back and watch the ad if it’s still the same one. It looked interesting. Kind of like a Top Gear road trip.
Haha, thanks Keith, but you don't need to waste your time. I appreciate it though. Hope you are doing well!
