This is the stuff why I keep my youtube account. Love the 1977 move. Love these songs. It would be a sad day if this content was suddenly gone. We would be worse without it.
What a beautiful animation this and return of the king were, pure raw talent from everyone involved. This will always be the definitive Hobbit experience for me.
the road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began now far ahead the road has gone and I must follow, if i can pursuing it with eager feet until it finds some larger way where many paths and errands meet and wither then i cannot say
Why do they all skip the verse “eyes that fire and sword have seen, and horror in the halls of stone. Look at last on meadows green, and trees and hills they long have known”????
Because it's an actual Hobbit walking song. They didn't write the lyrics themselves, only provided the accompaniment and melody. Bilbo sings this to himself occasionally in the book.
My memory of my younger days as a young little kid first watching this movie brought me here. Oh, the nostalgia is deep with this one... oh, how I miss my childhood.
The 90s were a much better time for me than what it is nowadays. Things are so blah and bland now that I just wanna run fleeing right straight back to the 90s like 1998, maybe perhaps to become an 4 years old little kid once yet again.
DO NOT watch this movie with a new girlfriend who will never be your wife, you will form an indescribable bond that will make a 2 month fling last 2 years
Bilbo w/ the green cloak on? Bilbo in live-action movies had different outfits (like a blue tunic from later on). I'd go w/ green w/ a green hat (leaf green, lime, or forest green).
I love the 70’s singer/songwriter folk atmosphere of this version. Very calming.
“I wondered if I would ever see my snug hobbit hole again. Then I wondered, if I actually wanted to.”
He had such a beautiful, calm and relaxing voice
60s and 70s folk music was awesome.
Yes it was!
Rest In Peace Orson Bean (1928-2020)
I’ll always remember you as the voice of Bilbo Baggins.
Such a wonderful song. RIP JRR Tolkien Glenn Yarbrough

"When your heart wants lifting, think of pleasant things."
This is the best version of the song, not even the album does it like this
This song encapsulates my life from 1977 (when i was 7) to right now 53. Love it
This movie and song are almost half a century old. Incredible.
MIss Phelps read this to us in the 3rd grade and it change me.

not that this movie was good, but this SONG is fitting to the world. If you take it as an island, I love it.
RIP Orson Bean... he was struck and killed by a car today...
adamzanzie my first thought. May the shores welcome him.
At 92!

@@jamesmccormick9541 Very sad how he exited this life, but he made a positive influence on so many.
@@konkyolife Yes 👍. Thank you 😊.
The fact that a version of this song appeared in the LOTR trilogy

sounds like Roy Orbison 1 minute in. well, not quite like.
I would've sworn it was Glenn Yarborough.

Indeed, the green is actually accurate to the novel, as he was given a dark-green cloak & hood that were rather weatherstained.
