@@RockYourBestVocals the best live music is Greta Van Fleet Josh is the best singer in the world of music right now and with great talent so go see them live for real fresh music and they rock
chill! people need some reality check....The band members are just trying to keep journey afloat... they are basically trying to make a living at their 70,s and arnel is just a hire vocalist trying his best to please the journey fans . The original band are not coming back together, steve perry is not coming back!..... .. just try to enjoy the music
Thank you for supporting AP .His voice has suffered greatly from being used too much .We Love that beautiful person 💗✨
As a vocal professional, can you criticize someone that has sang night after night for nearly 17 years with not much of a break? Wouldn't you think the vocal chords are being barbecued night after night? He has had big shoes to fill. A lot of expectations to meet.
@@martinnickell2883 yes i agree.
We love arnel so much much
Arnel tiene zapato propio, no es imitador, tiene su propia personalidad, si fue elegido por neal es porque encontró un parecido en la voz,
17 years is no joke. he still g great
@@paulgtaristThere's many old singers who lived the same life and are still getting it done. Having a bad day is one thing. But I think at the end of the day there are reasons one loses the power of vocals, some don't.
My thoughts exactly 💯
As a singer I feel really bad for him. It happens to the best of us. Much respect to Arnel.
Not rocket science, that was just fatigue. Period. Try singing 90 min of Journey for one night let alone a brutal tour. Guy needs rest. He's proven he can sing the stuff for years.
Yes agree 100 percent!! I also sing , i know what it's like .. Vocal chords are not like guitar strings that can be replaced with new ones , you have to rest them or you're going to ruin them. It also seems to me like he either doesn't want to or knows how to pull back when he needs to or should..instead of extending those high parts cut them short.
Most people couldn’t sing like Arnel on his worst day. It takes guts to do what he does. Most people couldn’t sing one Journey song once live on stage.
Exactly! 👍🏼 I think he does a great job and the rest of the gig was stellar!
@@leem6376 yeah,true.but he's professional.
@@SengiEmelindaDang arnel got to be a professional singer for Journey because he can do what most cannot.
@@leem6376 indeed.
@@leem6376 at least I wouldn't sound like Asian boi karaoke
Arnel's voice will last longer if Neil Schon, who controls almost everything Journey, will only relax on the concert tour schedule to let Arnel have ample time to rest his voice, not milking every date possible just to cash in.
NS needs cash to pay credit card debt
maybe JOURNEY needs a younger SP clone singer
It is nice to read a well thought out and accurate comment. The human voice is not built to produce like that night after night with no rest. I acknowledge that Arnel has lost a step or two over the years, but he is still laps ahead of the rest of us.
"Greedy Neil' should join 'The Greedles' ermm The Eagles another filthy greedy bunch of b.stards!
He still the best my idol
@@simplemind9466 Arnel lack discipline or he is just greedy. Being a Journey front MAN and super busy schedule he still time to do some singing engagements instead of resting his voice. In fairness, as we get order our voice crack and hard to reach high notes, no exception there.
Hi, I'm a 29yo random chilean and I'm so glad I found this video, It help me understand a lot of key aspects of all that surrounds being a performing singer. Two days after Rock in Rio, Journey performed at Saint Laura Stadium here in Chile. It was my first time watching Journey on stage, I went with my mother, who gladly got me into all the bands we know and love from the 60's - 90's. Let me just say how grateful I am that Arnel pulled a full 180 comeback just two days after Rio. As soon as the performance began, my mom and I were utterly flabbergasted by Arnel's singing, it was just amazing. I didn't know, but Arnel's first live performance was here in Chile at "Festival de la canción" in Viña del Mar in 2008. That was a special moment for him and, even though I can only speculate, I imagine it played a good part in creating an ambience of confidence leading up to the concert. Here in Chile Arnel is well regarded and very much loved. For me, personally, It was a banger. Best concert in my life, hands down. Singing together alongside my mom was a great experience and I can't wait to see them again. Plus, Arnel's not only the lead singer, he is the frontman, and his performance could not have been more filled with energy, passion and charisma, and if not for him, we would've never had the chance to enjoy that late september night with our favourite band. GRACIAS TOTALES ARNEL, YOU ROCK!
That’s awesome! Thank you for confirming it was just an off night and Arnel is still a legend! 😊👍🏼
How is the add a couple of things to this a lot of people have been really putting him down in a big way this guy gets up there and he gives it his all 100% night after night and people continue to put him down I want to see the people who put him down get up there and do exactly what he does people just need to stop but also I like to add another thing to it there's somebody probably behind the scenes using something on the soundboard to make him sound bad as I've said before there are people out there that love to see him fall and would love to see him fail put people out there need to grow up and get a life seriously
Thank you my dear.
@@blessed1741en chile estuvo maravillosamente bien. Arnel es muy inteligente con gran fortaleza física, emocional y espiritual. Quisiéramos estar cerca de él pero él es fuerte, sabe que tiene muchos detractores y eso lo motiva más,
Arnel is being overworked with too many performances week after week with very limited breaks to help his recoup his throat.
He is a superior singer .
Exactly.....👏👏👏👏
Neil should know better and stop blaming the other band for the mess up . He should slow it down and give Arnel a much needed rest and not to just cash in to every gig or concert ovebooked
Amen, brother!
@@urthemanbong2 it's never Niels fault. He's just still made because Steve left.
Arnel; please don't quit!!! I love you brotha!!!
Signing "T" in the Philippines usually means "Timeout!" or "Stop" or "Wait". That's an obvious call for help.
It means the exact same thing in the US. It never means “track”, but I guess it could be a signal the sound guys had worked out with him. It really looked like he wanted to stop for a couple of minutes and fix what was going on.
I wouldn't profess to be any kind of singer, but I do almost all the harmony vocals in my rock covers bar band. There are some nights - for reasons I'll never know - where I couldn't find my voice if it had a GPS tracker attached to it. My voice falls into kind of a "groove" where once I fall into it, I never have to think about singing the rest of the night. This assumes I don't strain it later and it feels like my throat spasms. But this is so unfair to Arnel. He's a world class singer singing some of the most difficult songs on the planet. Every night, he crushes it. He has one off night, and people are crucifying him for it. The whole band should have just STFU and let it blow over because he'll be back to making these songs his bitch the next night.
indeed
thanks for shading light on this buddy . we love you Arnel. without you i may never see journey perform live. maybe not in this lifetime. but thanks to you i was able to experience it. keep going my man there still a lot of human beings out there like me. just waiting to experience what i experienced. all love to you brother and god bless you always. much love.
Thanks for listening
I feel for him. Humidity, thick chords, sinus issues… could be anything..
Also as somebody who has been on concert stages since the early 80s… It sounds to me like he couldn’t hear himself that well and you know what that does.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Arnel
I'll take a live vocal performance with no safety net over a fake performance that sounds perfectly robotic every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Such a good assessment. I’m a professional singer but mostly do those 3 hour cover gigs nowadays. I recently did an original gig for the first time in years and… it was rough. Couldn’t find the right resonance on stage, the monitors were placed to avoid feedback but I feel it took something away and I just wasn’t able to get into the groove. And just like you said, once one thing went wrong, I was just like waiting for the next wrong thing to happen and it completely destroyed the vibe for me. I felt so embarrassed and have been sulking all day thinking I should just give up after that. This video just helped me so much to see that we are ALL human.
Thank you for the positive feedback and sharing your story - I feel that only a fellow professional singer can really understand, so I appreciate that!
I saw that poll he opened on instagram, it broke my heart...
people sometimes forget that the voice is also an instrument, and just as guitarists or drummers sometimes make mistakes, the voice can make mistakes too.
I saw the concert live on a brazilian channel and the audience was on fire. the noise of the "controversy" came only from the internet... and as you said, it was really great to see that everything was really live. I feel the same way, its like it's worth my money.
thank you for this video, for explaining the technique behind it all. always a pleasure to learn from you 🤠
Probably one of the reasons Steve Perry left when he did. Pretty impossible to maintain this catalog 365 days a year.
Arnel pineda is a legend..go go kabayan..you are so great and professional....god bless you always
dude everything you go on about could have been summed up to his voice being strained from being overworked instead of saying I don't know why he did that. he's trying to force his way or rather searching desperately for the control he's so used to having over his voice
He was already Legend and Getting Older what are you Expecting to him his voice never Chance?
Just to clarify in the Philippines if you do that sign he was showing the "T" means time out, im hoping im correct😊😊
@@KojinBazz same in usa
Im a big fan of Arnel Journey.
Nomatter what he is a legend
Agreed!!he’s the best.i watched his concerts with journey 8 times here in New York,New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and he’s a legend.no matter what they said.i guess he just need a rest.thanks for liking Arnel.
Siyempre filipino ka eh hehehe
No. STEVE PERRY IS THE LEGEND.
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960 oh..maybe you are a legend too.
@@JOHNNYSGIRL1960wait for steve perry!!he's coming back in your dreams!!!!
for a filipino hand signal "T" most of the time means "time out", like hold on wait lets check something..
I have followed Arnel's rise since he joined Journey. He sang sharp in the beginning, probably from lack of strength in his voice coupled with tryingvto push his power too hard. Then he was just terrific for years. Now, you can hear his voice is tired and perhaps he can't hear himself or he's sick. Having to try and hit the high notes in bridge over troubled water night after night, I can tell you no matter how hard you push, youre not gonna hit it, if your sick.
my guess is, he felt some notes were off..he suspected the in-ears, then realized, It was his vocal chords fatigued. But the show must go on.. I still like Arnel..
One upon a time that would have just been a bad night for him and he could have forgotten about it and moved on.
Because everyone has a camera pointed at the stage at every gig nowadays your one bad day gets shared around the whole world for all to see.
I wish people would put the phones away and just enjoy the show and be in the moment.
Arnel Pineda is one of the best Filipino singers and Steve P and him are both perfect Journey's front man
Arnel has almost 2 decades of incredible live performances and perfectly hitting insanely high notes. He wasn’t just in his perfect shape that night. He’s in late 50’s and he’s a human. Let’s just all be realistic.
Hi Jim! Really enjoyed your take on these performance issues that we vocalists encounter. I’m 61, and I’m the lead vocal in a journey trib thing out of the Detroit area. I’ve often wondered if I might improve through coaching.
I guess i undrestood why Neal Schon was complaining of sabotage cause in the very beginning Arnel.was already struggling from the head set he was wearing to help him hear his singing and he could not concentrate as well. The show must go on!
Why don’t you do a video on his live performances when he knocks it out of the park. This guy plays like 20 shows a month travels on planes and buses. Don’t bring attn to when his voice is tired from singing and flying and swollen. Thats all this is swollen tissue. It’s not a technique thing. If you have “been there” then you should know this. Instead of criticizing something that can’t be helped why not just teach singing
If you think I was critical you didn’t watch the video 🙄
@@RockYourBestVocals I did and i think you missed the point he’s just swollen that’s no breathing problems or technical just swollen and has to to the show. I mainly saying if you have to do reaction videos do a positive one about a killer performance 🙃
@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher very well said your the man
@@danielformica-yourvocalteacher totally agree with you
Thanks for the coaching and tips, you're great, first time to watch your channel, and i've really learned a lot, I'm also the lead vocals of our band..really appreciated your coaching, more power !!
Great to hear! thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!
You know, I NEVER thought about the effects of humidity until you mentioned it. Did an outside gig at Blue claws stadium in dead of summer and I felt crippled
Ever since I was a kid, I've managed to imitate great vocal performances, such as Thunderball, Hold On, How Do You keep The Music Playing-Bennett, among hundreds more, but I've never even dreamt of singing for a living, so I'm glad Arnel got to do it with his band and Journey.
Live performance doesn't mean what it used to mean. Nowadays, live performance could very well mean only that the musicians and singers are there, alive on stage and moving around. I have great respect for Arnel for keeping it real and not going for perfection and fake performance. If I want to go to a live performance and expect perfect pitch, then I'll get myself to a piano recital not a rock music event.
Totally agree, authenticity -- warts and all -- over fakery.
Instead of the piano recital, just go to a Taylor Swift concert!
You know, maybe not Arnel's best night, but it's still better than any karaoke performance of Don't Stop Believing I've ever heard.
I'm surprised people consider this a bad performance. In my experience, many singers can't perform live and nowhere near reach studio level of quality. Listen to Michael Jackson's recorded live shows, e.g. 1992 in Bucharest. He was barely able to get a tone out. Same goes for many other performers. Yet, no one takes offense, but they do in this case? I don't get it. Pineda was right on that level of many other live singers, if not even well above it, except a few times. So what.
humidity is actually beneficial to the voice-hence why vocalists use a humidifier to help their voices between gigs.. Sounds like He might be going through vocal dysphonia.
Hmmm 🤔 are you an ENT? Wondering how you’re diagnosing dysphonia. I’m a professional vocalist for over 30yeqrs and have struggled singing in humidity
That's a great review. Thanks for posting.
Well after too many damn years and almost a thousand concert he's burnt out already i guess its time for him to take a break
Great Take. Arnell has proved himself nite after nite. I Love Journey with Arnell. Love the entire band.
Thank you for the video! Hopefully people will understand that stuff like this can happen due to tech problems/fatigue/humidity. Also people do not realise a singer can never sound same live like on the CD because then you do multiple takes with ideal acoustics, and use software for remastering, slightly correcting pitch, etc. Also comments about him being old?! He is NOT old for a singer and just like any aging human being: as you get older you need more rest and time to recover. But you can still sing.
That was Arnel's off night and we feel sorry for him. Don't quit Arnel nobody else can fill the shoes for Journey same way you do
Heard him in Seattle a few weeks ago. He was AMAZING! Love him 💗
Also, good for him for actually singing live which so many ‘artists’ don’t even do
There's NEVER been a singer that has had the perfect the voice every show! Nobody is perfect! But Arnel as close as it gets. He's a singing sensation! Name one frontman that has ever been in perfect range at every live show!
The sharp ending is artistic expression on Arnel’s part. I have heard him multiple times glissando up from B to high E on Separate Ways. It’s crazy hard to do but it’s him putting his own stamp on it.
Ive been singing in an 80’s cover band for roughly 25 years. I sing a few journey songs. I’m here to tell you; those and some early Bon Jovi songs are some of the hardest for me to sing. I couldn’t imagine doing nothing but journey for 2 hours a night 3-4 nights a week. I’ve seen them live multiple with Arnel, Jeff scott Soto and Steve Augeri. Arnel is awesome 95% of the time. BTY, So is Deen on vocals.
I feel for Arnel's experience-he's human, and humans need rest. He's not a machine or a robot; he is a very good singer. He just needs time to rest those vocal cords, and once he's recharged, his voice will shake the ground like thunder and lightning! He's not getting any younger, but I still idolize this guy. Everyone has an off day, but when he makes his comeback, you'll hear his sharp, blazing voice once again after he's rested. Go Arnel I still Believe!
IF Arnel Pineda quits, for sure that's the end of Journey., I think he has to stay, he had been abused by that brutal Concer Live Tour, which leaves him little room for his voice to recuperate.
** Neil and J. Cain's instruments can be repaired and replaced instantly but Arnel only has only one instrument--, his vocal cords.. The 2 who managed the scheduled Tour should have protected Arnel's health welfare. Remember that AP had been loyal and consistent with the band without fail for 17 years..
. Arnel needs rests in between tours,. LuckyJourney that AP stayed that long, longer than SP..(.SP may not sound like SP anymore and he knows it..)
**For the band to recruit a new frontman maintaining a legacy sound would not be so instant...Neil and J Cain were already in their senior year, and without AP as frontman may speed up their early retirement..
//The management should not have rushed Arnel to do a marathon type of Live Concert like this year, 2024.. when the Journey Live Concert started Feb 6,2024.. until the end of the year!! It's abuse for AP who sings with the high registered tenor voice of Journey's difficult songs..
>> All Arnel needs is some vacation, he's just a human being that needs it..He has such a tremendous talent,,, I have seen AP@ Journey Live at the venue many times is an incredible experience, each time because Arnel is such a phenomenal performer!!
Some rock bands that need a good frontman who is so versatile like AP are just around waiting, and for sure will treat him right, if AP leaves Journey...
First of all, arnels opens up in 2015 about battling against asthma since 2010..i dont know how did he last this long singing for journey, amazing! And in my opinion if Journey wanted to continue with him, they need to tune down a half step or even a whole step every song..cause that catalogue is a torture for singers..plus neal needs to lessen the tour dates, they averaging 10 gigs a month this summer and thats brutal for old timers especially for an old singer..,thats why after so many tour dates this yr arnels voice is toast..theyll be better on stage just 1 gig per week for a tour..and if you look at their tour dates this 2024,they have gigs with 1 day rest, and thats not a rest its travel time and soundchecks so it means no sleep, and they have BACK TO BACK dates..just do the time management for that..C'mon Neal!
I saw Arnel more than 20 years ago when he’s just starting in Hong Kong. Then I came to Canada and saw him perform and I was shocked how tired and haggard he became and his voice too. He was worked very hard without enough rest that of course his vocal chords were affected!!! Even machinery if you used it non stop it will just break! And he’s had asthma too. He needed rest big time!
Better than steve perry Arnel Goat!
Keep the Journey alive Arnel, don’t quit !
Obviously his in-ears were not pushing out enough volume and he had to keep climbing the scales to find his vocals in the blurry mix. Not his fault at all.
As someone that plays in bands himself, I fully understand your points and views.
As a concert goer I don‘t. We pay a lot of money to see shows like that. And if they‘re in that kind of quality, we‘re being cheated out of our money. Some of the more responsible artists like Adele, Elton John, or Taylor Swift have their shows postponed and something put in place that benefits the fallen ill artist and their fans - even when the concert organizers and other beneficiaries lose some money. After all, their irresponsible doing not only endangers the good reputation of their artists, but also endangers them by having them do things they normally wouldn‘t risk - like singing such a high power show without being fit for it.
Jim, your tiny pic with the sunglasses reminds me of that guy, The Real Music Observer. If you took a poll on how many people think he is seriously annoying it would run into the hundreds of thousands. Just thought I would let you know. Maybe change out the pic....lol.. Bob
Hmmm never heard of him 🙈
@RockYourBestVocals Just look him up. The Real Music Observer.
Not just Arnel! Hundreds of famous professional performers getting tired, struggling & made mistakes.
It just shows you are only human, but it doesn’t mean you’re no longer a great singer! You’re still great Arnel, there are more people understand your situation than people who are so critical they do not count you know your worth. Don’t need to let them affect you, you just need to to take care of yourself and listen to your body more and be more modest, you are humble but sometimes we forget to be modest all humans have limitations! Many people still love you as a human being and a performer!
I'm not a singer but damn you explained it with justice. Way to Go!
Nice content, salute.
As a gigging singer, the tessitura on these songs is very challenging. They worked him way too hard.
Fair Judgement, thank you.
There is nothing about Arnel Pineda that is an “epic fail”. He filled the shoes of one of the most iconic rock singers of all time and has been doing it for closing in on 20 years. The fact that he is there at all is a near miracle. Everyone has a bad night, but for most of us it isn’t recorded and posted for anyone to comment on it. I feel terrible for Arnel that he has been subjected to people calling out a specific performance when he is spot on every other night.
Agree 100%
The T sign means timeout. He was making that hand sign to ask them to stop and tell something was wrong with his earpiece.
His epic fail is still way better than my singing on my best day
It's strange how he went straight to polling the fans to make a decision on whether he should leave the band or not, especially after one poor performance. He's clearly a top class vocalist and he opened himself up to potential trolls taking that vote of his over the million mark.
Not a really smart move. That's like a 13 year old girl fishing for compliments on social in some bullshit high-school feud. Fucker needs to just get out and sing to shut up the critics, when his voices is rested and back in top form that is.
I think 2 yrs ago this happened too. It had to do with like the sound was blasting too much and volume of Arnel’s voice could not be heard. When I watched his own gig not with Journey around the same time, you can clearly hear his voice and he was singing different cover songs of Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, etc. I think he still got it.
everything is done yet me too i've experiencing like right now my voice connot reach the notes cause ive sing the song of journey in my karaoke i've suffering my vocals technique that's why i understand the situation of arnel pineda right now cause im 56 yrs now..
I saw journey in August this year in Arlington. Ariel was awesome! I was amazed at the notes he could hold. Journey awesome job in Arlington! I enjoyed your concert a lot!
Very well explained salute you sir
I am an avid fan of Arnel but let's face it - his age is catching up on him. Not that he could no longer sing the way he does, but his age & those Journey-high-notes songs are affecting his range what with his 16 years of singing the same songs night after night during the band's tours worldwide. Singing Journey songs is not easy - just ask Steve Perry & Steve Augeri both of whom had fronted Journey much shorter than 16 years.
Just want to commend you. On how to review properly other artist, most especially Arnel, .. maybe or somehow a lot of factors Arnel faced to fail. 1st, maybe he's tired, 2nd. Technical problem. 3rd if you noticed he's with the crowd that somehow disturbed his ongoing song, then had hanbdshakes etc.. Let his basgers make some room of understanding how one performs. For you I salute!
It is sad to hear singers put in bad performances. I had heard those flat notes on don’t stop believing which are quite noteworthy. I feel sorry for arnel. Thanks for your constructive criticism and kind words for this singer. To be clear I am not THE Steve Morse just someone who plays his signature guitar model.
Bad blood going between Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon does not help? Tiredness? Many reasons in my book on why that job would be hard. Steve Perry was a real leader, and it seems they want Arnel to just "Follow along".
Im a diehard Steve Perry fan but I think Arnel has done an awesome job for the least 20 or so yrs. Having said that, this was sad to hear. It sounds like perhaps he's not been using his voice properly and it's catching up with him, or, he has had way too many gigs and its damaged his voice? We need to stop expecting singers to sound perfect forever. They age and their vocal abilities are impacted.
That cats worst is still KILLIN to me!
He's a really naturally talented vocalist (having known nothing about him previously), if that was his bad day there are a LOT of rock bands that have way worse as their lead vocalist, and a lot of them sound horrible live.
Realmente tiene talento nadie resiste 17 años con esas canciones tan demandantes, cualquier cantante con ese ritmo de trabajo pierde la voz aún teniendo la mejor técnica vocal,
For a people like me grew up listening to post-hardcore, punk rock, and heavy metal live. I'll always choose watching live performances all day everyday than fake, autotuned and digitally engineered music/vocals.
when an artist or musician is nailing a song , you dont know if he is in good health or bad, this is the story of a trumpet player from Boston Pops Orchestra ,He has a fever and he went to the concert to play anyway ,suddenly the conductor called to play a new piece ,without rehearsal ,he failed the solo(you have to read the music ,first sight), later he got fired, Journey play every night ,when they are on tour, sometimes a singer don't sound the same everyday , Arnel's voice sounded distorted ,maybe he is having some vocal cords problems, but he has to do the gig, i had heard him in others videos where the sound output is connected to de video recorded and his voice is clear, voice health is important but to sing rock you dont last long ,look Steven Tyler ,he lost his voice for being to rock, he fractured his larinx in his last concert and Aerosmith announced they are retiring from touring, i'am not going to criticize Arnel Pineda because he tripped one note or many notes , at his age and touring ,singing everyday those high notes are hard.
I think he did pretty good! The pro lem with anyone doing that job is that Nobody is going to be a perfect Stece Perry except Steve Perry. He made those notes seem so easy! Such à super vocalist. The man could hold his on with anyone when he was well.
I was there. He was good, not perfect, but so good. It was a technical problem.
Agree - he sang great bar those minor flaws and yes, it seemed to be a technical problem. He's a hero for singing great and a lovely humble man for offering to leave - even though NOBODY thinks he should! Love him!
17 years and this as far as I know is the first time he's had a rough performance, that's still amazing. If he bounces back next time, it was just an off night. But if it keeps happening....yeah might be time. I'm just saying one night isn't enough to call it.
EPIC fails are part of the journey... #ProudPinoy #TheJourney #STAYArnel
I just didn't understand why he didn't sing an octave lower in the most difficult parts... In fact it seemed like he spent the whole show trying to get it right because he himself couldn't believe what was happening. But the right thing would be for him not to do the higher tones in this show... People would complain, but much less.
Neal probably won't let him.
Great empathy👍 And I agree.
To bad for the guy. Was it that his monitors were off? It sure looked very much like it. He was giving them attention. Could it also have been exhaustion? Sounded like it too. Nasty neil seemed like they weren’t gonna stop for nothing to help him.
Also, unfortunately, the promoters and record companies are ripping the audience off with the outrageous high ticket prices. Even though the guy is an amazing singer, and it was a relief to know he wasn’t lip-sinking (which I think is fraud), there are those who no-doubt, think they need it perfect to justify the outrageous prices they have to pay.
Also, Neil is a clown to blame the other band for this. He thinks we’re all stupid. What a putz!!! Lost respect for him big-time.
Anyways, Arnel rocks!
i saw journey tour schedule this year oh man! i can't balieve journey still doing a lot of tours
I was the singer for many years myself, with really incredible range. It’s funny because a lot of people that know me. Connect me with Journey. Because I sounded quite a bit like Steve Perry. When I was in my 20s early 30s I could roll off anything I could hit any note that steve could. But I really never had any huge desire to be a rock ‘n’ roll roller. I’m too much of an extremist. I didn’t see it going anywhere good. But I ended up there anyway so. But I’m 61 now I quit singing about 14 years ago. I still have a little tiny bit as a matter of fact, I was in my truck yesterday. Listening to Pandora and one more time came on. I used to sing that song flawlessly. I tried to sing it for a second and just turned It Off lol yuck. But anyways, Arnel is a great singer. He’s been doing it six or seven years longer than steve. As far as being in the band. And everyone knows that journey tours to death. I still remember when steve started losing his voice in the middle of the escape tour not really bad enough for most people to notice. But I did. If you look at the escape tour, he was rolling lay it down like nothing. And keep on running. Somewhere around the halfway mark they quit playing lay it down. And they did keep on running in a different key. Nobody can do it forever not with that kind of range. I can’t even come close to what I used to be able to do. And I don’t do it every night. People just need to mind their own business and be nice. Arnell is a unique, humble and sweet guy with a great voice. No, he’s not steve Perry. But neither is Steve Perry anymore as far as vocally. I don’t know why people feel the urge to condemn somebody especially a vocalist. It’s the hardest job in the band. It’s funny how you can have hundreds of thousands of great shows. No one remembers. But you have one bad night everyone remembers it. Hang in there or Arnell Don’t listen to these naysayers. They’re not doing it. They’re just behind their keyboard, mouthing off in their parents basement. Much love.
My mom is a singer. She's retired but on days she had to sing, she would spend the day drinking nothing cold, with a warm towel around her neck on a hot day. No AC's allowed. And she would barely talk to people unless she really had to. Warmup starts after dinner then she's off. This was her routine as she got OLDER. I don't know if Arnel practices this (we don't hang out or anything. lol...) but age does get the best of us at times. At least it's all a real performance and he's not doing the Ken Tamplin route. lol... more power, kabs!
I'd love to be Arnel's bodyguard, even though I'm ahimsa. That's the way I feel. People don't know about singing, I lost my high voice bcz I smoked alot of weed for decades. He's a hero for singing Steve's songs, for a long time.
Seems that nobody bothers to take into account, the strain continuous touring has on one’s “voice.” Perhaps they just don’t have a clue. There is no tutoring that can fix it once it happens. Only thing is rest and time off.
arnel is old,but what we admire of him is the first time he sang for journey,it was really amazing perfect, for me that flat notes is still great for someone who is in 50s
The dude is good, The volume appears to be a bit much...I hate in ears, it screws with my resonounce...When I am dead on with a note I can feel my molars vibrate . Journey is a hard gig. I am more of a helloween / kiske style.
yup but still he rocks...no one replace Perry BUT NO ONE can replace AP FOR his performance live
12:48 godz, that sounds horrible. All his straining and pushing too hard finally caught up with him. Oh well, he made serious $ and can live like a king now that he was in a glorified Journey tribute band.
Age doesn't help - I'm fighting it myself... Hope you're well! Would love to see some new uploads from you, it's been too long!!!
@@RockYourBestVocals No, but thanks. I decided I was done uploading ANYTHING to my channel and that is that. All things eventually come to an end. I may create a new channel someday. Age definitely doesn't help with singing or bodybuilding or boxing or MMA fighting or most things involving physical prowess. Experience, wisdom, confidence, those things increase with age so it can KIND OF offset things a LITTLE. But anyway, try to have fun. Music shouldn't be a competition. That's why I don't like AGT, The Voice, et al. Hate 'em. They are fake reality shows anyway. None of it is really live. It's all edited and some is planned out and they pretend it isn't. anyway.... wonder how this KT drama is going to play out. I sincerely hope he at least apologizes and admits he's done what he's done. I just don't get that vibe from him to begin with so.... I always say "you cannot reason with an unreasonable person". ? thx and keep rockin if it makes you happy!!!
Go apply for Journey then!!! Hahahahah!!!
@@pinkvelvet3865 hahahahahahh
@TruthSurge I hope he was well rewarded as a hired singer, given that he gave the band over 15 years of extended life and touring.
Bear in mind that he doesn't own any of the publishing, so he won't get a fraction of the royalties that Neal earns.
Arnel shows that he is a human but miles miles better than his critics. You can never take a good man down he will always rise up
I have to give Arnel credit. He's sung these Journey songs for 17-18 years live. I'm amazed is voice has held up as well as it has. He's carried Journey on his back since he joined the band. Steve Perry in his prime was untouchable vocally. Listen to Journey live in Houston in 1981. In particular, listen to Steve sing Open Arms during the 1981 Houston show. He's at his peak vocally. Then go to Steve singing Open Arms live in Tokyo in 1983. Huge decline in his voice and range in just two years. Follow that up with his live performances in 1986. A further decline in his voice. Steve was in his mid-to late 30's during the the 1980s and it's pretty shocking how much his vocals deteriorated in such a short period. Again, I'm a huge Steve Perry fan but I'm not sure why his vocals started going south at such a young age. Steve couldn't hit those high notes anymore by the time he was in his 40's. I think this was a big reason why Steve dropped out of Journey and stopped performing live.
Arnel can still hit the notes in his mid-late 50's. Pretty damn impressive.
I just watched him last year and he had no problems with high notes. I think his voice was tired.
eveyone had experienced a bad night performing
Neal Schon supports Arnell, and also complains that A7X controlled the sound at the concert negatively affecting Journey's performance.
They are doing this all headlines do they hate to be upstaged
