Blast from the past, I remember reading your posts about your GTE on an old forum online. What became of your car? I owned a 1989 SRi then a 1990 8v GTE then a 1991 16v GTE, sadly all gone now.
James Mullen The engine in the mk2 GTE 16v was the best as it was just a 2.0 XE (non cat version), personally I think the mk3 GSI 16V was the better car tho !. I’ve had both the mk 2 was the faster car but the mk3 was nicer to drive and handled far better, and believe me I properly tested them both back in the day 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Phil, Unfortunately it was quite a rushed video before it was collected, but it was a stunning example. More videos (better quality and content) coming soon :) Rich.
This was my first car. I had the 8 valve with digi dash . Ended up costing too much in repairs. So it was sold to next to nothing hope it still running somewhere out there and being well looked after . God bless my F888.
Very nice. Once upon a time there was a Mk2 astra on every street, such a rare car the GTE especially in such an immaculate condition. AC currently have a red one with 43k I have my eye on and will hopefully purchase when my current car sells.
Yes, i remember the days of them being 'everywhere'! Sadly they did not last well, and most were stolen or have rotten away. Our current red 8v is a nice useable example, which is ready for a nice loving home :)
DANIEL COYLE did you get it? I had a metallic grey 16v GTE many years ago. Fantastic free revving engine that had power all the way through the rev range. However, the handling was awful and wasn't a patch on my MK1 & 2 Golf GTIs which were much, much better and enjoyable all round cars.
Such an awesome car. So underrated
I had a J reg which I bought when I was 18 in 1998, white . It’s the only car in my life that I really miss , so wish I had kept hold of it .
I love these cars thay love and can take a good ragging 👍
I had an H reg (1991) 2.0 8v GTE from about 2001. This brings back some memories. Great fun at the time.

I loved them....
In glacier white as well....
That engines a minter and the fact they are fun to drive is a bonus.
Nice car. I drove a 1989 Kadett GSi16v. Was one bad ass car in it's day. Left many higher HP cars in my rear view many times.
Thats a lovely GTE, i had a 1990 16v back in 2002 loved it wish i had kept it and locked it away in a garage until now but needs must back then..
What a peach, by far the best astra ever made has to be the Mk2 GTE 16v.

This must be one of the best of these around. Hope the new owner enjoys it.

Ive had 5 Astras in my driving lifetime,,,absolutely great cars to drive….
What a beauty
I used to own one in 1994, silver low mileage it wasn't much cleaner than this example, it's spooky how clean that car is..
That's when Vauxhall were nice cars
So beautiful I hope the current owner is taking good care of it
Had one, loved it
